Was a great school but through the years it has changed and many stuff and teachers are they just for their pay checks and socializing other than it's going down a hill.

Our family loves ICS! My son is in first grade and is eager to go to school each day and is thriving. Im so impressed with the administration and high level of communication/growth Ive seen in a year. The school counselor, Ms. Flores, is an absolute gem and should be protected at all costs.

The only reason its not 5 stars is the high turnover rate. My daughter has attended since Kindergarten and now in the 5th grade! I have seen at least 3 principals. As a matter of fact, the principal listed at the bottom is no longer. Ive seen quite a few African American women who no longer teachers.

This is a fantastic school. The principal and staff are working hard to make it even better. My daughter, whos first language is Mandarin, benefited from the "reading recovery" program in 1st grade. (Note - ICS is the only school in Dekalb County that offers the Reading Recovery program). Each day a teacher spent 45 minutes with my daughter reading for 6 weeks. Every evening my daughter brought 3 books home to read. The books were diverse (lots of different ethnicities featured in pictures and names that reflect Spanish, Korean, Chinese etc.) and were appropriate for her reading level. After 6 weeks of the program my daughter reads on her own! She loved it. Amazing!

As a former teacher, the diverse student body is what makes this school unique. But with the high turn over in leadership, administration team and staff members the students suffer from sudden change. Recent changes have cause an extreme decline in cultural expression.

High turn over! Every year teachers that have been at this school for years are forced to resign due to new leadership vision changes.

High turn over. New leadership does not have a clear idea of cultural diversity.

My daughter went in in 4th grade and aging out now after 5th. Its been our favorite school experience by far. We have tried quite a few to find a fit for my daughter who is very sensitive and has problem with motivation. They have went above and beyond. We love the diversity and learn so much about other cultures. I feel totally at home there with the families and faculty. Ms. S is Freaking rockstar. My toddler is definitely going there if we get in.

My two children love this school. As a parent I am so grateful for their amazing teachers. All of the children that go there are smiling. It is a real community that offers amazing sport programs and friendships. Seriously, this school meets each unique student exactly where the individual is and develops a foundation that I think is priceless in today's world. This school has something unlike any other school in Dekalb county. It is truly a cut above the rest.

I have a great experience at this school. Teachers and staff love to work at this school and are mostly involved in other activities. This school teaches Esol, French and Spanish. The School Within School program is conducted by a group of compassionate volunteers to support struggling students. Through the Home visit program, faculty members visit their students on a regular basis to build relationships between the school and the community. Every year, the school community celebrates UN Day to foster the spirit of global citizen to students and celebrate diversity. Students and faculty are involved in the following activities:
Soccer, basketball, tennis, African dance, chess club, Arts, Kitchen, performance arts, gardening, kilometer kids (Track club), birds watching and counting.

Great school environment. The students love attending this school. The teachers are very supportive of the diversity and teaching to each students needs. Most of the students move on to a great middle school Druid Hills Middle and they stay with their friends and gain so many more! Great job ICS!

ICS was established with a great vision and mission. However, after multiple years of experience in this school, we came to know that the school and its staffs are serving only for a few, who are pushing their kids into the class of best teacher or gifted programs. No matter how good your kid is, or how perfect scores they are achieving, the teachers will not care. They are afraid of the few people or just care about them to keep their jobs. How can the kids flourish in this environment? It is very disappointing.

What a wonderful diverse learning environment! Other schools have a variety of students, but ICS embraces, fosters and thrives on their diversity!
I am looking forward to our five years with the staff and students!

ICS has been in transition for the last few years. They moved to a great new space at Medlock. They have really embraced the building and made it their own. A beloved principal stepped down in the fall of 2013 and the school has operated under an interim since then, who has worked doggedly to keep things running and make improvements. There are many great teachers, but we will be starting the school year with many new-to-ICS teachers as many are leaving or have left. This can be scary, but it's also a great time of opportunity for ICS families to embrace change and to make a great school even better. Overall the ICS experience has been a good one for my children. They are thriving academically, and you really can't put a price on the richness of culture and the unique friendships they have built at ICS. I recommend ICS to families that love their community and who have open hearts, open minds, and an interest in service and making the world a better place. The education ICS offers is solid, but know that the ICS experience is beauty in chaos.

Great school. Very diverse. Lots of after school activities such as tennis, jogging, and soccer. The annual UN day celebration gets better every year. The children do not see color oe race, they accept each other lovingly without any biases. The children are not flooded with homework. One downfall is the school financial budget is limited and they need to find ways to get big corporations to give the school grant money. Because of that, administration made several changes with the staff that caused a lot of parents to be upset. Otherwise, a good place for children to learn.

My school is wonderful and is the first school in which my family and I have felt a sense of belonging and community. My son has had exceptional, caring teachers every year and we are looking forward to sending our daughter there next year when she begins kindergarten. I have been pleased with the commitment of the teachers even during some tough challenged we have had this year. This school community is one that is nurturing and focused on educating whole children. Glad to be a part of it!

my first child's first school life starts at ICS with love, care, diverse, curiosity, enthusiasm and new skill....without ICS my child won't be able to get all of the taste of academic. i really appreciated ICS!

My daughter is new to the school this year as a kindergartener. And so far she is enjoying each day. I am impressed by the friendliness and warmth of the teachers and staff and how it already is beginning to feel like a family. I like that the school allows time for kids to be kids with two recess periods a day. Also each day the child is exposed to a second language of either French or Spanish. The specials are impressive too; music, art, and science lab. Our first impressions are all favorable.
