The counselor does not answer her emails, and the principal seems to not give a care, just a bunky school with bunky rules, bunky students and bunky staff

The teachers yell at students through the student portal.
Students fight despite the "security" the school claims to take seriously.
Important notices are sent to parents after they are due.
Teachers don't enter grades until the end of the semester.
The transportation department is impossible to get in contact with.
My son is laptop was stolen by another student outside of the bathroom and he was blamed for it.
Students cannot bring water and bathrooms are locked during and between classes. How are they supposed to ever be able to go??
Lunch is not free time for Students, they are not allowed to use their devices at that time.
The principal is rude and unhelpful.
I would not send any child there if you can help it.

Yes. I interacted with the kids. All were respectful and polite

When my boys were at Middle, I called them with an issue with some high school students. A couple kids had gotten high before getting on the bus. Both schools took immediate action and the high school swept the entire school for drugs. I was astounded. Kudos.

Both my boys were gifted and learning disabled. The teachers were very accommodating.

I pulled my kids out of Warner Robins schools because of bullying. Rutland was a safe haven for my socially challenged sons.

My son excelled at this school, he had enough homework. I don't understand the negative reviews.

The ROTC instructor was AMAZING. Great teachers, great coaches.

Excellent. I'm an involved parent, and I have had only great experiences with this school. Give Rutland a chance.

Rutland has never been the same since half the teachers left the school a few years ago. It used to have the best band and chorus departments in Bibb County and now it is probably the worst. They ran off some great teachers and have paid the price. The band has no competitions, no trips, and no more pride.

I am a Rutland graduate and I do not think I was at all prepared for college compared to my peers who attended other high schools. The teachers and administrators are to busy trying to limit drug use and maintain a safe environment that almost no resources are devoted to teaching. There are only about 5 AP courses offered, and it is very hard to earn credit because the curriculum does not prepare you.

The public school system in Macon is one of the worst in the nation, both for academics and safety. Gang activity and underachieving is prevalent at Rutland - you should not send your child to this school.
