We are enjoying our time at Johnston! We love the smaller school atmosphere. Class sizes are small (18 for us so far). Great AIM program and family events.

terrible teachers who are rude and know to lie on students. Teacher said my son did something and he and his friends said it was a lie.

The best elementary school we've ever attended.

The teachers are passionate and the students are engaged and eager to learn. The administration (Akers/Walker) are always willing to lend an ear to any and all feedback. We shopped a lot for a house and finally settled in Woodstock. Blessed to be a Johnston Jaguar.

They don't do homework at all under 3rd grade. And the students only have homework in the older grades if they don't finish all their classwork.

For the most part we have had great experiences at Johnston so far. Looking forward to another year. The school host several events throughout the year to give a sense of community.

I do have to agree that there is at least on lady in the office who has rubbed me the wrong way. However, I thing I love about this school is the class size. I think class size is very important and they seem to keep the on the smaller end. The PTA is very active and the school is always receiving grants to make it a better place. Drop off in the morning never takes more than a few minutes they really seem to have a good system down. I have spoken to the school counselor about issues my child was having and I found her to very through, thoughtful, and quick to action. Any time I have had a issues with the classroom or the teacher I was get a quick and thoughtful response. Over I think this school reminds me of my elementary school, I love there school values and it feels like they try to make it a fun and safe Place.

The office staff at this school absolutely horrible. They are rude, have a serious chip on their shoulder and take it out on parents, maybe the kids also, who knows. They are very unprofessional and gossip about parents and teachers. This could be a good school but they seriously need to expunge their current office staff with a new one, they are running the school's reputation into the ground.

The front offfice staff was cold and unwilling to get up to help. I asked to do volunteer work around the school when I had a few extra hours one day. They could not find anything for me to help with because I hadn't emailed the library, cafeteria, home room teachers 2set an appappointment. I came from a charter school which mandated volunteers to do at least 16 hours, this school wouldn't even let me In the door! I felt the staff to be rude&uncaring. Kids would steal from desks during after school and teachers wouldn't pay attention to the fact each child is an individual. Anytime my children missed a day they sent an official letter about how many days the children missed and truency wasn't acceptable, even though we had dr.'s notes!! My kids are now behind all their friends in other schools since this disastrous school.

While I had no problem with the teachers what so ever, I was not happy with the assistant principals. I found them to be very unwilling to listen, to assist with the few problems we ran into. The teachers my children had were wonderful, they even felt bad that they felt like 2 of my 3 kids were being held back in learning due to the way they had to teach their classrooms. Luckily being the parents we are, our children did a lot of learning at home outside of school to expand on subjects beyond what the school would let the teachers. We were told their was no gifted program available for our kids due to budget cuts but this is not what the county site states. This is one area where we had a lot of problems with the assistant principal and principal, they were unwilling to listen to our concerns that our kids were beyond what was being taught in their classrooms. I found that subs most of the time had no idea what they should be doing if a teacher happened to be out. Our kids were constantly bring home fund raising items to sell, which was impossible to sell with so many of the things coming home. The front desk staff and after-school staff were wonderful.
