Very awful school. Administration doesn't care if your getting bullied. They don't care about the students at all. Fights all the time and overall just not a safe environment.

The administration seems to believe that confusion is a form of leadership. Good luck getting a straight answer from anyone. As for the teachers, while a few genuinely care, many seem like they’re just waiting for retirement—or a break from dealing with overcrowded classrooms and unclear policies.

I feel like this school is pretty good as I moved over in 10th grade, and have mostly enjoyed my time here. Although some of the teaching is not great, I believe that there is a good culture and mostly reasonable teachers.

This school has some great teachers but the overall system (I suspect it's all /most east cobb high schools from my moms groups chatter) puts way too much pressure on kids. Especially since they went through Covid etc. Almost all kids end up severely depressed and anxious by the time they get to 12th grade even kids who are naturally gifted are made to feel not good enough by the huge amounts of homework and the constant testing.
Despite trying to get help for my kids many times, some counselors and administration have been very unhelpful. Especially magnet counselors and administration.

If you want a school that offers a well rounded program, offers a diverse environment that resembles the real world, has a sports program that students can be proud of, and is welcoming to parental then Wheeler is the school for you. We selected the school because of the above, and did not want a homogenous environment. My kids graduated are are doing extremely well.

Some teachers are not very willing to help those students who may need extra help.

My 2 children and many of their peers complained that a math teacher spoke very fast. It was brought to the administrators’ attention and nothing was done to facilitate better learning.

Instead of supporting those students, they are kicked out. Leadership here seems to have no patience for students with learning differences.

Very very very very bad. Just driving past this school gives me anxiety, it makes me very sad to know that many disadvantaged students will be kicked out having very little education. If most of your disadvantaged students with learning differences are kicked out of school and all you have left are the high performing students, then surely, your graduation, testing, and college readiness scores will be higher!! It’s a part of the school to prison pipeline.

Dr. Berkenmeir creates a very stressful environment to survive. Thriving is out of question. Try complaining and she might convince the administration like she cares and is open, but wait until she bites you with all the vergence. Unrealistic expectations can make students lose confidence in life.

I have one child that graduated from two years ago and now goes to UGA. Our other son is a Junior and is doing great. The new principal and the new additions to the school provide a great learning environment. There are plenty of clubs for the kids to join. There is quite a bit of parent involvement in the school. I love that we are a Wildcat Family!

Wheeler has always been recognized for their magnet program, but now over the last couple of years the school has become unified rather than two separate schools. Scores keep improving and discipline is down. Wheeler is a gem. This is our 3rd student and we feel it is better than ever!

Life at wheeler started off good for the first 2 years then we got a new principal. Peter makes it hard to be a student. He's scared of evert possible situation so he cut everything off

We were all worried at the end of next year about getting a new principal, but Dr. Giles has turned out to be great. The new buildings are awesome and it seems as though there are less discipline issues this year. Proud to be a Wildcat. Highly recommend going here!

My daughter attends Wheeler and she made the transition after coming from private school. It is a very diverse school and I really like that about the school. Most of the students get along really well and the teachers are amazing. Wheeler is very proud of their students and they also have a magnet school program for math and sciences. We have only had great experiences at Wheeler.

Don't go to this school. I thought that it looked great after reading the reviews on this sight I was sorely mistaken. The buildings are gross, it reeks of sewage in the hallways everyday. The teachers are abismal, they do not care about their jobs and give unfair favoritism to certain students. However, the worst thing is the counselors, they are never there, they are always either on break or not seeing people. I was only able to see my counselor two times this school year, once for the school messing up my schedule and once for a teacher trying to fail me without reason (before you try and say that my last statement was false I had all A's in every single one of my other classes and a 3.9 GPA, I don't fail classes.) Both times I had to wait for over an hour to see her, and the worst part was that I could hear her laughing and joking with the other counselors while I waited. The only positives of the school are that some of the people are nice, when they're not brawling in the cafeteria, and the principal is stellar. However the principal is leaving this summer, therefore I can not wait to see this school's downward spiral.

I love this school. The way the students bond at events is great. We are like a big happy diverse family. Everyone I know has plans on graduating. Failing grades and bad behavior is frowned upon. If you are having problems understanding the material, there is always tutoring and you can email your teachers about any concern you have. This school should most definitely be ranked higher than a 6 out of 10.

I go here (Class of 2015) I recommend this school. I love it plenty of activities for students and many opportunities for students to keep grades up or get grades up most teachers are respectful, helpful and energetic. .. they always. Are changing things to best help the students ... the principal treats every student like his own child greets us every time he sees us hug and shakes our hand. And ever forget our name like every great parent. .. I love this school

This school is on the rise to be the BEST all around school in Cobb County. The challenge of a diverse financial population has been the challenge that administrators and faculty have taken on squarely and they are winning. Raising the bar in every area has begun to pay off with a local perception that Wheeler is a great school, with terrific students. The brand new building has helped create the atmosphere for excellence. This is a place for well rounded, real life, opportunities and challenges. High school is what you make it where ever you are. Wheeler has given my children every academic opportunity as well as quality sports and student life programs.

I am so happy to read the latest evaluation of Wheeler. We have just relocated here from a large school on the West coast. We are very happy with the rich diverse population of Wheeler and the offerings that Wheeler has. However, my husband and I have been disappointed at the scheduling mechanism that the school utilizes. Our sons last school used a system that was similar to a university scheduling system. It did not eliminate issues, but it certainly made the ability to drop and change classes a much easier process. I have given Wheeler 4-5 stars, but this issue should be evaluated and other schools should be used as an outside resource/example.

Beautiful school, top teachers. However, unsure if it is a County or specific school issue, but the scheduling of classes and the delineation of the actual schedule is questionable. The leadership from top down is missing out on how they could take what has historically been a struggling school and make it GREAT by starting the year off with balanced schedules that provide appropriate academic challenges balanced with each students passion. I would encourage the Board of Education to make an inquiry. Wheelers opportunity to attract the best and the brightest back to a beautiful school that has depth in student diversity and talent is now. This is an opportunity for Sweeney. The BOE should look at how the uneven class distribution is impacting the students. They need to provide appropriate software than can accommodate for block scheduling or evaluate the potential lack of leadership in curriculum adherence.. Chiprany is an amazing leader, but he may be missing the boat on scheduling. Wheeler's time is now. However, first impressions are crucial if you want to be a top notch school in Cobb. It must be top priority to place Students in classes that provide an academic balance.

As my son entered his last year in middle school I told him he should consider the opportunities offered at the magnet schools in Cobb County. He said he wasn't interested and wanted to go to his zoned school with his friends. I told him that was fine because he probably wouldn't be accepted anyways. He showed me by getting accepted at Wheeler Magnet and has never taken his foot off the pedal since. He will be starting his junior year and his classes are the equivalent of what I took in my sophomore year of college (I have a BSME). The teachers are incredible and being surrounded by other high achieving, focused students does wonders for a young teen's attitude and effort. I never thought I'd hear my son regularly ask me if he could stay after school to work with his classmates on a project or for a study group. He also is a varsity athelete and the sports teams work with the magnet students because they know for them academics are their priority. He loves the school and is proud to be a magnet student there.

Wheeler has had it's Up's and Down's, It was old, and in need of repair. I had one child go thru all 4 years at Wheeler, and I believe he got a great education overall. Yes, just like at my work, there are some staff that should look for a different job, but I think the leadership from the Principal on down is great. The Magnet program is top notch and I would compare it to any other program in Georgia, heck the US. Now that Wheeler is getting a much needed face lift, I am sure the student and staff will feel a lot more pride in their school. Wheeler is a very diverse school and that is one thing that makes it better than many of the other HS's in the area. You can't teach certain things in a class room and one of them is LIFE. So YES, Wheeler is a great school, and will only get better. Go Wildcats.

Wheeler is a school where academics are strong, but where kids learn about the other parts of life too. There is room for every student to find activities, clubs, sports, and friends that fit and feel right. The Magnet program is excellent and without compare in the Metro area, however, Wheeler is more than the Magnet. The academics outside the Magnet program are top-notch. Both of my children attended the Magnet program. Many of their gifted and high ability friends didn't and still experienced a challenging education at Wheeler. The faculty is highly qualified, dedicated, and innovative. It will be amazing to see the new construction completed, so that the outside of the school finally matches the incredible things that have been going on inside the school!

Wheeler is wonderful! The magnet program is great. Super robotics team. Many students exceeding in testing for AP, SAT, and ACT. Looking forward to the brand new main building for Fall 2013. Parents volunteer through PTSA, Magnet Foundation, and the academic foundation. Staff is very involved in extracurricular activities. I like the extra help sessions before and after school. Good solid education.

Both of my children graduated from this school and are doing well in a very difficult University. Both students made D1 athletic teams and both are very happy with their time at Wheeler. We could not be more pleased with our decision to attend and be involved at Wheeler as a family. The challenging academics and the opportunity to participate in sports made Wheeler perfect for us.

Wheeler is one of the best high schools around in cobb county. Of course every school has its ups and downs, but in general wheeler is a great school. Kids are evaluated to the extreme by their instructors, I personally love love love my teachers. They enforce my teammates and I to succeed in everything we are tasked. I enjoyed every semester I spent here at wheeler, and now I'm ready to graduate. I will miss this school dearly.

Although I am in district for Walton High School, I decided to attend the magnet program at Wheeler and I am so glad that I did! The magnet program is a great program because you are still involved with the rest of the school. As a senior this year, there are so many cool activities that I get to share with the entire senior class such as the ice cream truck that was brought in last week to give us all free ice cream! I feel so proud to be graduating from this school! Love it!

Wheeler is ranked high on many "best high schools" lists and I can certainly see why! They offer a wide variety of programs to the very diverse student body. My child is extremely involved in their band program and journalism class and I could not be more happy with their academics! The teachers are amazing and the guidence office is always helpful!

Both of my children attend Wheeler having come from private schools in Atlanta. The education they are receiving is exceptional thanks to the professional, dedicated teachers and support personnel. Many are there very early in the morning or later in the afternoon/evening to assist the students or sponsor clubs. Wheeler's block schedule has allowed them to explore additional interests. Rather than the bubble a private school might offer, Wheeler gives them the opportunity to get to know a diverse group of students.

Wheeler is a wonderful school for me personaly. As a senior here in wheeler, I can say that the past 3 years spent in Wheeler has been great. I've had the most amazing, dedicated and supportive teachers. They sacrifice alot of their time to help us students into getting alot of our work done. The schools programs and cool activities such as clubs and sports are so fun. I'm so glad and proud to be graduating from Wheeler.
