Now i have just finished my year at Daniell middle school and it is overall not that bad. The teachers are fine, i only say that because i had good ones ( i was not in any advanced courses). Kids were not terrible from my grade but the upcoming 8th graders do have a lot of drama going on. It would be best to be careful who you hang around and what you tell people. The kids are cruel in some ways but it shaped me into the person I am now. The school is fun, most events are toward the end of the school year that is okay. There arent really any clubs offered. Many kids are a distraction, it is best if you ignore them. Do not worry so much about friends. Do not worry about having a relationship all school year, focus on academics. I dont have much else to say. But this school is not as bad as people make it seem. Do your best and do what you want to do, not what others want.

at this school it was good until I had gotten into drama then everyone wanted to fight me I went to the councler multiple times and they have repeatly done NOTHING on my last year their (seventh grade) I had gotten into a fight that I told them that would happen do not send your child to this school because everyone cusses and the teachers and stuff don't do anything until something happens it took me almost a year to recover from this school becareful on your decision on friends they will turn their back on you in a heart beat

My grandson attends and for the most part he has been happy with his teachers and classes . Also the councilors are great . There have been some bad things with a few classes mostly oversized classes with kids teachers can't control . And it effect the kids who are there to learn . One teacher was attract by a student when trying to break up a fight and she was injured and broke her leg . Think they need more support with these teens.

I hate this school. Ms Stump does NOTHING.. Ms Moss and Mr. Waltz carry the school. The schools emotional "support" just doesn't exist. Teachers punish for stupid things. Would give it a 0/5 if I could.

Principal Rawls was great, but after we got a new principal it went down hill. There's senseless decisions being made about rules and teachers left and right. It's also not very safe as last year there was a fight about every week and a stabbing. Overall the only thing this school is good for us the special education. Other than that there's nothing good that stands out.

This school is HORRIBLE. Teachers cuss, students cuss, everyone is always fighting each others, everything revolves around drama, teacher have clear favorites, people are always kissing and making out in public, people make sexual remarks about each other, theres so much body shaming towards students and teachers, many death threats, people tell each other to kill themselves, people bully each other so bad that they make people cut themselves, the food is nasty, there is a cockroach infestation, many people are racist and say slurs, and people do drugs and are affiliated with gangs.PLEASE IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE DO NOT GO HEREEEE.

I would rate my experience at Daniell Middle School an absolute 5 star. The teachers there really help me to become a better person. They care about me a lot. The academics are very good. We have the highest test scores and our music program is pretty good.

As a student there, I was a victim of bullying, and the teacher didn't really do much about it. The counselor was able to get the student moved to a different class.

Daniell Middle is not necessarily a bad school. I have had no traumatizing experiances to date, but when i first arrived as a nervous sixth grader, i was quite shocked. Kids were openly using vulgar language towards each other, wearing inappropriate clothing, and showing displays of affection in public. I eventually adjusted, but not much has changed. Teachers are quite terrible at their jobs (except for a select few) and kids can get away with literally everything. As I said, not terrible, just disappointing.

Many teachers could care less about the well-being of their students, and i would not blame any bullied kids for not reporting bullying. The teachers are frankly weird, and i would most likely go to my parents than a teacher if a matter like this were to arise.

This school needs to work on empathy from the teachers who can then model it for the students. Not every teacher or staff member is bad, but many seem to have forgotten that bad experiences with a teacher, professor, or authority figure can harm a student and their view of school and community for years.

Most of the teachers are jaded. Some are rude to students from Day 1 based on how they think someone will perform academically before actually assessing individual students over days, weeks, and months.

Awful. My daughter heard a child making threats to the school. She reported it and was made to feel like a criminal. Administration is a joke. Administration while on the phone with me, rolled her eyes to the counselor in front of my daughter. The lack of respect for students and parents is revolting.

My kids love Daniell!! The principal is fantastic, teachers are great, and students seem happy going to school here. It's a little less desireable than other east Cobb schools, but it shouldn't be. It really is a nice school.

Great school ! I think Principal Nelson is amazing ! He is trying really hard to make this school strong. I like what he says : student success comes in 3 parts . It's parents involvement and students dedication and teachers hard work !

We specifically chose this school for our daughter. We intentionally moved out of the Mabry/Lassiter zone (after 12 years and sending 1 daughter through those ranks) and into the Daniell/Sprayberry zone. MANY people have questioned our decision to move into what is considered by most a "lesser" school. And they're right! Less clique-ish, less elitist, less judgmental, less materialistic, less exclusionary. MORE accepting of cultural differences, more acknowledgement and appreciation of individuality, more inclusive, more culturally diverse, more real world, more designed to operate like a high school environment, more opportunity to explore alternatives to college track, more hands on STEM opportunities - have you ever watched a 3-D printer do it's magic? - more opportunities for self-described nerds to feel at home. Principal Nelson and every single teacher or counselor we've encountered have ALL been extraordinarily helpful in helping us assimilate our IEP kid into our newly chosen "tribe". We couldn't be more proud of this school, this administration and this tribe of teachers. So happy we made the choice to give our daughter the opportunity to be accepted just as she is - geek and all!

My family is pleased with JJ Daniell MS. I have an 8th grader and a 6th grader at the school currently. They both have had exceptional experience at the School. They have had an opportunity to take Advanced Classes and have excelled. The administration is tops and Mr. Nelson, school Principal, is dynamic and outstanding. We have had a wonderful three years with my 8th grader and I am sure my 6th grader will follow in that path. Go to the school speak to the parents, kids, PTSA and the administration you will me amazed.

Daniell has provided a wonderful learning environment for my 7th-grade daughter. We came from a private school environment that was solid academically, but could not address social development for any of its students. The teaching staff at Daniell have been exactly what we were looking for, and kudos to the principal for setting the tone for his school. His hands on involvement shows leadership by example. As for the reviewers who have experienced bullying, we had that at our very expensive private school, too. When we started to experience that here at Daniell, we immediately met with the administration to document the problems. All has been resolved to our satisfaction, so maybe the previous reviewers made a positive impact on the policies.

I am a 6th grader at this amazing school. My teachers are all extremely tough but nice in the same way. I am in the AC program and have been keeping my 3rd consecutive years of strait As. Daniell has helped me grow academically and socially.

Mr.Nelson is a great PRINCIPLE and i been a student in daniell seens 6th grade so i been there for 3 years and there's nothing wrong with the school , they have AMAZING teacher that will help you with anything IF your child will ask them , and if your child did good in elementary but some reason make mad grades in middle school its problem because your child not ask FOR HELP .So DON'T blame the school or tell people to not send your child there because that not right.To be honest there been i instant because of drugs but now the jj daniell staff work so hard to clean up the school and there's no more in the school and its CLEAN and SAFE for your child to go JJ Daniell rating should be a 8 or 9 .

My son just finished his 6th grade year at Daniell. After hearing so much about the school's difficult history, I began attending School Council meetings (open to the public) before he even started there! I was very involved with the PTSA and established open communication with his teachers. He had a GREAT year at Daniell! His teachers were, for the most part, responsive and encouraging. It is middle school -- a hard age to be and a hard age to teach, no matter what school. All middle schoolers are exposed to bad language and bad choices; kids with good character know what choices to make for themselves. The issues we had we would have had at any other public middle school; we found the administration to be accessible and largely responsive. Our family truly appreciates the efforts made by the good teachers and staff at Daniell and we look forward to five more years together.

My experience at this school has been horrible. My son was a straight A student for his entire elementary years. After 2 months of attending Daniell, there was a significant change in his grades. My son's entire year at Daniell, he was subjected to bullying. Violent bullying and psychological. The teachers and admin were not able to do anything. My son was not in a safe learning environment at all. Because of the bullying that is "allowed" at this school, I now have to go out of my way to drive my son to school 20 minutes away. The answer the admin gave me at the end of the year ..."sorry this is happening to you". They allow the bullies to win. I absolutely am disappointed in this school and district in the handling of the bully situations. They are "no place for hate" school. What a joke that is!!
