Veteran's High School boasts excellence but the administration fails to set the tone. The administration made up all sorts of excuses for why my child was not getting their educational needs met with their 504 that was on file. I was constantly emailing and calling with little to no response. The teachers are good, I will give them that. However, administration needs a complete overhaul. It is very disappointing.

If you like drugs, fights, bullying, ineffective staff and faculty, arrogant people and being treated like you’re an inconvenience, then this is the place for you! If you try to address anything you’re patronized and they try to explain how you just don’t understand. The mystique surrounding this place as a good school is a myth. Any area school besides Northside is better.

This school only cares about high achieving learners - if your child is average they will suffer here. The culture at VHS can only be described as haughty and narcissistic.

This school tries to put on a perfect mask, but from the inside and a students perspective it’s equivalent to hell.

I’m a freshman, and already the teachers tell us about a project etc ONCE and don’t remind us throughout the week that we have a price of homework due.

They don’t relate to the students. They take an hour to lecture then give you a few fill in the blank notes. If you’re absent you have to get your notes online.

I just moved here and already peers are bullying, lying to each other, trying to tear friendships apart because they’re jealous, and judging kids because of a variety of reasons.

I’m a student with focus disabilities and the teachers know, but when they catch me off guard instead of trying to help they put me on the spot for something I can’t help.

While I had health issues, I had learning disabilities as well. There are not a lot of teachers who can help in this area. And many students tend to talk down to those who are in small group classes. Its not a fun school if you have learning disabilities.

In the learning department? Great. Veterans prepares you for the future and wants you to do you best. In other areas? Wasn't so great. There wasn't a lot of elective to choice from, especially if you plan on majoring in art, digital art, animation, creative writing or etc. Its not a great school for the art department or literature department. Otherwise, I was a great school when you got good teachers who didn't belittle or talk down to those with learning disabilities or health issues.

As I've mention above, I have health issues. While teachers were not very nice about it, I had many people go out of their way to make sure I was fine and wasn't have any issues with my breathing. Classmates offering to speak on my part during class or outside of class. Always including me into games during PE even if I had to stop half-way through.

I attending Veterans with severe health issues- breathing issues. I had many teachers be dismissive of me and talk down to me for not being able to perform in suit areas. Having to talk for long period of times was difficult for me, I had teachers debunk points because I would have to stop to take breathes. It just wasn't a very good view point on adults.

Went for two year. Had amazing teachers both years. Now attending college, I realized how much of the knowledge I learned was very valuable. Going through biology and chemistry, I remember much from high school. I also was in Ms. Walls english class and she improved my writing by leaps and bounds. I also participated in cheer, tennis, drama, french club, and beta club. Overall, fabulous school.

My granddaughter, Abby Andrews is very proud of her school. She plans to be a second grade teacher and enjoys the training she is receiving at Veterans.

As one of the original teachers, I am witness to the administration's and faculty's commitment to providing the best education possible to our students. I have worked at many quality schools over the years, but I have never experienced such a high level of professionalism and cooperation as I have at Veterans High School. Before I moved to Georgia, I seldom had a good experience with my children at public school--they went to private school. However, this is a school to which I'd send my children without hesitation; my colleagues are superb, school spirit is high, and the students are the greatest!

I couldn't be happier with Veterans HS! The principal is very open to both parents and students. The guidance office is knowledgeable and efficient. Any of the teachers I have contacted have been quick to respond back. As a freshman many of my son's teachers sent out a broadcast email to keep the parents in the loop as the students settled into their class load.

My son was in the first graduating class at Veterans. It was a wonderful experience for him. He moved from Warner Robins High which was a traumatic move for most of them, but they adjusted and I think he was more than satisfied with the move in the end. Still a DEMON fan at heart!

This is a new school in Houston County with a growing student population. Overall the school is going in the right direction with its teachers, classes, and extra-curricular activities. There are still the typical problems with this school (as with any GA school) the curriculum (especially math). But if you have a better than average student, then the curriculum with not be an issue. I feel that the teachers want the students to learn, not just pass through, and nearly all the students are proud to be in this environment and create new school spirit and support. There are definitely exceptional teachers here and terrific coaches. THe principal and his assistants are very nice and cooperative so far. With community and parental support this school could definitely become Houston COunty's finest school.
