First of all I would like to say sorry for the experiences from the families that adamantly criticize the St Theresa's principle or schools staff as a whole. As a parent of 5 children currently attending here, our family has only have praises for the staff. The main reason why we kept our family at this school is from the compassion that we have recieved from them. We have been here for 10 years, beginning with the 3yr old program.
The principle here always greet and assist the kids in upon the beginning and dismissal of school. Even when when it's -20° or more below with windchill she is usually the last staff there to assure the safety of the students to and from the school and their means of transportation. That's every day, that she is at the school, for the past 10 years that we have been here, in frostbite, rain, or muggy 100° plus weather. Many staff are there to assist well. That's dedication and caring.
As a parent of 5 pre-highschool students, everyone of my kids are different in their own social and mental abilities, and depending at different stages of their growth. The staff here educate, nurture, and support the students as to the staff's best abilities. They will customize and adapt special teaching activities according to the students individual abilities. I have been called into the principles office and have also met with staff about some disciplinary situations regarding my kids. Never have that made me felt uncomfortable, offended or upset in any means. I felt that they really cared about the kids.
Even with all the crimes/shooting going on in the schools of our nation, I know that my kids are at a school where I can feel the less worry about situations like that arising.
Sometimes I wish that they have more language classes or more advanced math and science classes, but I understand that it's a private charter school and don't have the extra funding as the public schools do. But that does not outweigh the countless positives programs that the school brings.
I could explain dozens of additional positve experiences, I hope you get the idea.
We are Blessed to be a part of this St. Theresa School family!

We have been at this school for almost 3 years. The schools teachers have SUCH bad attitudes towards the parents. For someone who pays full tuition out of pocket I should AT LEAST be respected considering I am paying for their salary. This school is SO incredibly disorganized. I am pulling my daughter out.

The school has NO interest in making even the most rudimentary attempt to work with differently-abled students. They provide a sub-par 'evaluation' and offer no real supports, hoping that you will take your 'problem child' elsewhere.

We pulled it child from STCS after being discriminated against by Ellen Stemler, as well as a friend's child be assaulted repeatedly on school grounds with nothing done by the administration.

Social Justice Week, STEM with all students, Robotics, HyperStream, First Lego League, Engineering is Elementary, A world in Motion, Project Lead the Way, STEM Camps, hands on learning everyday with every student! I love it all! My kids really excelled at STCS! It is truly a GREAT SCHOOL! The teachers really care about you and your student, it is a real community! I would highly recommend this school!

There is a saying among the teachers that i have heard from many of them "whatever it takes". I asked once what they meant by that and they said that it means that they would do whatever they could to help students succeed. I have a son that struggled in reading in 1st grade and his teacher offered to stay after school several nights a week to help him. She did and now in 4th grade, he is one of the best readers in his class.

My 4th grader has a little bit of homework each night. It is usually spelling, a little math, and then maybe a social studies , writing or science project. It keeps them challenged without overloading them. I am glad to see them working at home but still have time to go outside and be a kid.

This is more than a just a school to me. It feels like family. It is such a caring community that reached out to welcome us when we first moved to the area. The teachers are excellent and I love the small class sizes. This school exceeds expectations not only academically but in faith formation as well. I have felt at home here and would highly recommend this school to anyone!

The principal is clueless as to what goes on in this school. She avoids conflict by not being present in classrooms, halls, and the playground, not returning e-mails and calls, and protecting employees from inappropriate and unprofessional behaviors. Who does she answer to? She's gotten away with this for long enough! It's time for some healthy leadership to save this school from its demise. Well over a dozen kids have left during the past school year. Sounds like someone finally needs to intervene and find out what really goes on there. When it came to child development and child psychology classes the principle and the middle/junior high teaching staff must have been sleeping. This school harms children’s integrity and causes great stress and anxiety. Be careful if you are looking at this school. Visit more than once and I assure you that you will hear teachers in the upper grades yelling at students. I figured that the children must have deserved it until it started happening to mine. Humiliation is not a good discipline tactic, however it is used daily on normally acting children. I would only recommend this school to people who have children that don’t make mistakes, only for children who can always sit still, and never step out of the line that is desired. To top it off, if you run into conflict, you will not get a response from the principle. Mrs. Stemler is unable to handle conflict and will not return calls or emails if the topic makes her uncomfortable.

This answer to this question is it depends. It depends on if you are talking about education or life lessons. They teach book material just fine, they are terrible about teaching children coping still for life.

All Catholic school have a higher volume of homework and this school is no different. This is one area that I feel this school has right. Academically they teach the children and encourage them to take their study habits home. From time to time there was homework sent home that was hard for an adult to do, but I wouldn’t say that this was a bad lesson for the kids.

This school encourages the students to tattle. This is an age old debate, tattling vs. telling and this school crosses the line. The teachers emotionally get involved with issues that they should let blow over and create an increased amount of dishonestly and storytelling by the children. The administration does not know how to assist children with overcoming playground conflicts. I have personally witnessed what I would call teacher bullying; teachers yelling at children and causing them to feel humiliated in front of their peers as punishment. Judgment of others is high at this school, once the teacher have decided not to like a family or child they will railroaded. This is not fair, and it does not teach the children about honesty or integrity. These character values are taught by role modeling and once they enter 5th grade, the role models are terrible.

St. Theresa is such a warm community full of enthusiastic families and a supportive parish. Our mission is to help independent, happy, and faithful kids develop into life-long learners and citizens of the world. We are service-centered with an emphasis on social justice. We are STEM-certified meaning our science and math curriculum is hands-on and problem-solving focused. Our teachers are excellent and would do anything to help a student meet his/her needs. Lunch is delicious and our prinicpal is one of a kind. Mrs. Stemler is an advocate for teachers, a support for parents and above all, a cheer leader for children! St. Theresa is truly a wonderful place for children to grow.

St Theresa's is an excellent school. I have my 2 boys there and they love it. They have fantastic teachers and a wonderful principal who really cares about the my kids overall well being!!! It's a loving, safe learning environment for my kids!!! I drive 50 miles everyday to make sure my boys attend St. Theresa's !!!

St. Theresa Catholic is fantastic. I wouldn't consider sending my children anywhere else. The staff reach each child individually to challenge and help them grow. The school is STEM certified grades 3 through 8. Classes use iPads, Smartboards, ELMOs, and are hands on. Faith and respect are part of everyday. I couldn't ask for better teachers, classes, or a better community. The principal knows each child and family by name. She is in each classroom weekly. We are very pleased with our students' classrooms and learning. Words don't capture the learning envirnment.

This school could be so much more...yet, the principal is too wishy washy to stand up for teachers in the classroom. The school is in dire financial straights and believes that in order to serve the school better, it would be better to terminate teachers who make 'too' much money so that the budget can be lowered...thus ensuring younger teachers who will only come here as a last resort...thus ensuring lower quality teaching...this school needs a new principal!!!

St. Theresa's Catholic School is a fantastic school. We have 2 children that we send there. There are a number of Catholic schools that are much closer to us yet we still send our children here. The individual attention, small class size, excellent teachers and wonderful community of parents made our decision easy when deciding where to send our children. We could not be more pleased with St. Theresa's, it is an excellent school.

The teachers and staff at STCS along with the small class sizes make for a great classroom setting. Individual attention with all the use of technology give the students a great education.
