Our experience with the preschool and lower school has been stellar. Our kids love to learn, and making connections is really encouraged and fostered. Equally important, they've connected well with the other students and are supported by their teachers. This is place with an intentional approach to both learning and life together.

Our two children have benefitted from their time at MSA. The learning process (Christian, Classical) is rigorous and challenging, but it sets the students up for success in life after high school. Many kids choose to go on to colleges while others choose a different life path. Regardless, MSA prepares students to be life long learners and understand true beauty.

The work done after hours is critical for the long term recall of the subject matter. While the "No homework" theory of some schools seems attractive, my children benefited from the age appropriate requirements of the outside of school learning.

We truly appreciate this school's Classical Christian approach and the trivium it brings to education. We agree that the grammar, logic and rhetoric sections of a child's education are essential to train a believer, a leader and a thinker.

As an MSA parent of 7 years who is at the school and in the classrooms daily and is well educated in classical and educational philosophies, I strongly recommend this school. The teachers are caring and effective, and my children feel at home here. I've been considering moving to pursue post graduate work, but MSA (my knowledge of its quality and my childrens' love of being here) is what makes it very hard to think of leaving.

It is rather homework heavy, particularly in rhetoric school, but from speaking to many alumni they are well equipped to deal with the rigors of college, even in places like Hillsdale and Johns Hopkins.

A number of faculty have master's degrees in their area of specialization. They meet daily for communication and to pray for the school. They are trained through a weekly book and culture study, weekly staff meetings, and a number of in services. They are very collaborative and have a positive faculty culture.

MSA encourages bullying. At the last chapel, the headmaster encouraged the school bullies and told students that they need to learn to get along with all types of people and this makes them stronger. When bullying is present, little to nothing occurs. My child has seen instances of bullying, racist comments, a physical assault on a teacher, and vaping with no discipline happening in any cases. My child has been a victim of bullying since the 3rd grade and nothing has happened. I have seen student after student leave this school because of this and still nothing happens.

I wish I had done more research, talked to more parents/students before sending my child here. From this experience my child has learned to hide their true self from others as showing it will only get them bullied. Their self-esteem is so low from this experience. I would NOT recommend this school--unless you have an in with the headmaster or a board member.

The amount of homework given is excessive. In 2nd grade, there were days my child would have over 2 hrs of homework. In high school, my child regularly spends 3-5 hrs per night on homework.

to keep tuition low, MSA hires new teachers and does not have an effective mentor program for them. Teacher turnover is high (from both quitting and being let go.) When teachers are ineffective, the school opts to not deal with the situation at the time, but let the teacher finish out the school year, thus the students learn little to nothing during that time period.

the only thing this school develops in the students is a thick skin and a desire to be at a different school.

Leadership is ineffective at best. They hide behind the parents and other members who contribute monetarily the most. They are afraid to make the right decisions. They ignore parental concerns and hope they go away.

Our students have had excellent teachers who value them first as God's image bearers, recognizing the uniqueness of each student in the context of spiritual growth, academic growth, and personal growth. The teachers we have had are available, trustworthy, and communicative.

The mission of Morning Star is to equip its students with the truth of the Gospel and use that truth as a lens for all learning, teaching them to use their God given gifts to shape their world. Developing strong character is an important part of this learning process and this school assists the parents in their role to develop positive character qualities in their children.

The staff and faculty are readily available and open to deal with unique learning styles and are very open to adapting to and developing modifications as needed. My child has special considerations and they have always been open and accommodating to her needs.

Morning Star Academy is a school that seeks to educate students with a Classical approach to learning, with the 3 traditional components of Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric. This method places a high value on developing critical thinking and logical defense of arguments. This school has a heart for its students minds as well as their souls, desiring their graduates to have a strong impact as future leaders with a Christian worldview. Morning Star has been a blessing to our family.

We have two students at Morning Star Academy and the level of homework is appropriate to their grade levels. Homework is meant to solidify key concepts and teach personal responsibility and time management.
