My first child went here and it wasn't too bad. 4 years later 90% of the teachers had left and been replaced due to poor leadership from the principal and it definitely shows. Hard to have a great school when it is overcrowded and the teachers won't stay.

They don't give out homework and I was told it was because too many kids will refuse to do it so they don't even try to send it out

I think the teachers are trying hard. The problem is they can have 35 or more kids in a classroom and that is way too many to keep control.

The principal is an ineffective leader and has driven a lot of teachers away to other schools.

When my child was being threatened I would let the leadership know and all they would do is have a meeting with both students and ask them while in the same room if there was a problem. Of course the student being bullied won't say there is out of fear. Need to interview seperately

The leadership at this school is absolutely horrible The Principle needs to resign or be replaced. Avoid this school at all costs.

Some teachers are great but the leadership, especially the Principal, are horrible. Fighting and bullying are allowed to the point its seems almost encouraged. Theres no real consequence or control, they dont work with parents or care about those on the receiving end. If you have a choice, I highly recommend finding a different school

The kids run this school. The principal is the worst Ive ever run across. He goes out of his way to make a bully/aggressive childs time easier, refuses to work with parents, and further victimizes the victims. Fights occurs often and nothing is done.

They have zero control over the kids and allow physical assault with little to no consequence. Its a frequent occurrence and the school always sides with the aggressor/bully.

Ive witnessed several occasions where its the opposite. Theres no real consequence and the principal and student involvement leader support the bully vs the victim.

My son has been bullied several times this year on the bus. I called the school and I never got a call back. My son's personal belonging wss taken out of his hands by another student and the student broke the object right in front of him, by the way the "object" cost several hundred dollars. The school wss supposed to get into contact with his parents.. But I was told they couldn't get a call back? Seriously? The only staff member there I actually like is the counselor. She's went above and beyond her job many times! As for learning..i feel my son thrived at the elementary school he was at for six years but he's went down hill here. He never has home work, the principal is an obvious joke as well as the vice principal. I wouldn't suggest sending your child here at all! And their averages in science, reading and math are below state average. So are the students with disabilities. It's very sad as I thought WEEKS would be the one with these averages. Smh

Brody provides a quality educational experience for all of its students. The teachers are innovative, and really care about their students. As a parent, I have seen absolutely NO issues with bullying, and in any concern I raised otherwise, the principals, counselors, teachers, etc. ALL showed they care.

Brody has a bullying issue. Simply hanging posters on the walls with an anti-bullying message doesn t constitute a plan for dealing with actual bullying when it happens. My kids have both been threatened by other students. Brody has no plan in place for dealing with this problem, and uses the timeframe when the issue is brought to their attention as an excuse to not take responsibility for the fact that it happened. Attendance has been an issue as well, in which Brody is partly responsible for. I was told they code absences "in the best interest of the student," which in turn has caused a problem with my kids attendance because Brody does not follow the DMPS rules set forth on attendance policy EXCEPT to quote Iowa Code in a Truancy letter when it suites there purpose. I voiced my concerns to the Principal regarding my situation early on in the year, but they continued coding "in the best interest of my child." and now are complaining about the absences. I believe in being proactive, Brody clearly does not.

I go their and it is awesome. nothing is better than Brody. I'm learning to type and with new rules no worry about bullies.

this school sucks! i dont like my kid going here they get beat up and noone helps them!
