I go to Colfax High school right now and i'm constantly bullied because my parent's divorce and the hardships my mom has endured because of it. I've told a few of my teachers and they just tell me that it'll pass. I have good grades but honestly the homework given is a joke. I've met kids from Ankeny who are way ahead of us. The school is very cliquey, and if you don't fit it overall, you probably won't fit in the town either.

although the individual determines if he/she is an honest person, the C-M school district does a lot to ensure its students are honest and fair in the game of life. Good conduct policies are implimented in sports that ensure athletes have integrity, and all coches are very strict on these policies

I attend this school currently, and it offers everything I need to obtain an excellent education. The student body is very open and accepting of new students, and all are welcome on any sports team. There are many wonderful teachers who are willing to stay after school and help students with homework and understanding concepts, and the school itself is kept very clean and in order. All around it is a great school!

I was a student before the middle school merged with the Sr. High school. I was still in the process of learning English since I had only been in the US for a month before enrolling in the Colfax-Mingo district. Little did I know that there was no ESL (English as a second language) programs or any support for students who are still learning English. Most of the students were bullies and I was called racial slurs and even thrown lunch boxes at me. When we brought the issue to the principal, he offered a temporary fix which was transferring to Harding middle school in Des Moines for my second semester. The change was amazing and I thank him for that. I cannot comment on the academics, since the language barrier and bullying didn't let me concentrate on academics in those short months. Needless to say, my mother and I moved to Des Moines and i have been in honor rolls at my high school and now, at college. My advice to any minority families that are considering the CM school district: take a look, feel it out but don't be surprised if your child gets bullied. I hope it has changed since I attended.

The students at Colfax-Mingo have made some amazing achievements this year. We have strong National Honor's Society membership and philanthropic, community-oriented students. This school offers academically excellent courses including in-house courses for college credit and a fantastic agricultural program. Many of the teachers have masters degrees either in their content areas or in education/teaching. There have been many recent changes in staffing. This school is making a comeback.

This school is the worst my children have ever attended.Mr. Jones the principal is more concerned about the kids social lives than there academics. Some of the teachers do care, others are more worried about getting a paycheck.
