I went to school in Collinsville and Ive had kids go to the schools. It is a wonderful community and weve had really great experiences with the schools. The teachers are excellent and really take time to get to know their students. At the high school, they offer a wide variety of courses that you dont see at other schools. They have very rigorous AP classes in many subject areas and their vocational school is top notch. They are putting in a new state-of-the-art vocational building that will provide even better training and opportunities for our youth.

As a teacher, Im proud to be part of a school that truly puts inclusivity into action. Every student can find their place here. Theres a club, program, or activity for every interest, and students are even encouraged to create their own. It builds a strong sense of belonging across the entire community.
Academically, the school is both rigorous and forward-thinking, offering challenging courses along with unique classes you wont find at most schools. Im proud to say I moved to the district so my own children would be able to graduate and be Kahoks for life.

I first moved here to teach since it was the first opening I had after college. 11 years later, I am still here and am staying despite being from Chicago initially. I love this school, it's students, and it's administration. This school prioritizes students, their needs, and their learning more than any other school I have seen (and I regularly attend state and national conferences with other educators).

I had some great teachers and had good experiences with sports. I had an overall good experience at the school. Counseling, especially Ms. Olsen, were great.

I have had one daughter graduate and a son about to this year. We have had no issues with this school district. The vocational school has been nothing but amazing for my son to further his education beyond highschool! I have heard of a lot of girls fighting at the middle school, but I don't blame the school, blame the parents for their kids actions (it's at every school district).
All of the staff my kids have had were wonderful and engaging. I would highly recommend Collinsville School District.

Both of my children graduated from CHS. There were so many extracurricular opportunities for them both and they were able to find things that they were both interested in. The teachers were supportive and answered any questions that I asked.

This school has severely damaged my mental health, The building is crammed with far too many students to focus, the halls are always crowded and the hallway rules are never implemented, causing blockages and shoving, as well as not being able to get to class on time. Some of the teachers don't give mutual respect to students, Last school year I witnessed a teacher outright refuse a student to use the restroom even when she told the teacher it was an emergency regarding menstruation, but the teacher kept yelling at her saying 'finish your worksheet and homework, then you can go' and proceeded to write the student up after she had ran out of the room to not pee herself. A personal experience I've had is that this school doesn't inform parents or help teacher the Special Education students what is and is not socially acceptable, I understand it's difficult to teacher them, but it just means to take extra time and patience, this however shouldn't excuse the fact that I was sexually harassed by a student in special education, they should be taught better and taught why it's wrong, not a comment of 'You're fine looking' while a student goes upstairs being brushed off with a simple 'no' and from my knowledge this kid has gotten no guidance on why it was wrong. They don't call or email parents unless there is no school, they don't make counseling easy to access, making students have to 'schedule' an appointment where they'll be taken out of a random class at a random time, making you have an in building absence, the only mail they send home being a letter letting the parent know if their kid took a lot of mental health days saying 'We can help you help your child' when it's the school's fault that the kid is having those issues. Last school year a student was hospitalized due to a fight over dodge ball. Each day I come to this school filled with dread that someone will be mad and hurt me for no reason, exhausted by the long hours under an unstable environment, and stressed due to all the stairs and student who don't know how to not stop or not be slow in a narrow hallway. Not to mention the food here sucks and most of the time the chicken tastes like fish or the food is stale and dry, and during finals last year they didn't make enough meals for all the students having to take finals. Please don't send your kid to this school for their sake and yours, all of this and more is why many have anxiety, depression, and trust issues. Also this school doesn't read surveys

My daughter has been bullied in EVERY school she has gone to in this unit. Summit, Dorris, CMS, and CHS. CMS is the worst by far, due to the staff not taking care of students needs when an upperclassman coerced her. Other than bullying, learning and education is OK.

CHS prepared me for my future!!! The teachers and staff were always available when needed.

Since then the school has only gotten better!!! I cannot wait for my child to have all the opportunities that CHS offers available to him!!

My family has had a great experience with Collinsville High School. My daughters are challenged with rigorous academic classes and I appreciate them being exposed to this curriculum. There is a wide range of clubs and sports that students can take part in that get them connected to CHS. The Student Council organization is one of only 3 schools in all of Illinois that has achieved a gold level status and they get the opportunity to travel every summer. The counselors work hard to keep students informed of opportunities whether it is courses in high school or college scholarships. Finally, the office keeps families informed of all activities. It is impressive how much they send out.
It is a school where all families/students can feel welcomed.

My daughter has had a great year at Collinsville High School. She has had the opportunity to take advanced classes that have challenged her learning. There is a wide variety of courses offered, and she has been able to choose the ones that fit her career pathway. It has been fun to hear her discuss what she is learning about. She has been able to get involved in several clubs and activities as well as participate in athletics. I like the diversity Collinsville High School offers. It is reflective of what her world will look like as an adult. I am really looking forward to seeing what she accomplishes.

Our experience with CHS as parents has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are incredibly grateful for the impact it had on our child. From a learning standpoint, students are genuinely engaged in what they are learning, supported by a well-rounded and challenging curriculum. The teachers consistently demonstrate respect, care, and a strong commitment to motivating students, which helped our child build our child's confidence.

Beyond academics, CHS excels in supporting students social-emotional well-being. The school creates an environment where students feel supported, valued, and safe. We also appreciated the strong systems in place for students with diverse needs, ensuring that all learners receive the accommodations and support necessary to succeed.

Family engagement is another clear strength. As parents, we always felt welcomed, informed, and included in our childs education. Additionally, the wide range of extracurricular and social opportunities allowed our child to explore interests, build friendships, and develop important life skills.

Perhaps most importantly, CHS fostered meaningful relationships between students and staff. Those connections made a lasting difference. Because of this our child graduated from CHS well-prepared for life after high school and is now thriving at the collegiate level. We feel very fortunate that our child attended CHS and are appreciative of the positive academic and social foundation it provided.

My experience with the school is not good here's the situation my son has an IEP he went to Hollywood heirs witch is a smaller school he was doing good so they transitioned him to high school saying he would be in small classes that will help him cause his condition well that was wrong they put him on regular classes which ok well then they changed his schedule twice then he gets suspended for tardy which he is supposed to have a extra 5 minutes between class so then a few other situations happen so they try stop witch is a school in troy again he has a IEP so he has to take medicine every day well then we find out they don't give him he's meds so we say something about it then we find out the school give it to the bus driver which gives it to him to take that day which is a controlled substance now they want him to go to a place in granite which really ain't even a school so my rake is Collinsville school district should reevaluate there teachers and administration

My high schooler really loves this school, and he appreciates the wide range of classes available. There are, of course, bad apples in both the students and teachers. However, you can tell there are a lot of teachers that really care and are trying but my son says a lot of the students act out and disrupt class and some teachers are obviously tired of dealing with that.

Dr Snider shouldn't be a leader of this school. A PhD doesn't equal intelligence. Don't plan on sending him an email, he never responds. Worst principal I've ever worked with.

If you have any concerns on CHS please get them out there. I feel one of the major problems is education spending in Madison County. If you don't attend Edwardsville High its like the end of the world to some. Well if you like paying double the price just for a school district then that's your choice but Maryville IL is wonderful place to raise kids and CHS is a great place to get them ready for college.
