This school is horrible from the leadership at the superintendent office to the administrators at the school. My student attended from primary to current and this year was HORRIBLE. The principal is completely incompetent . My student was bullied ice thrown at his face and the assistant principal did not do anything. And once my student reacted my student was written up. How absurd !

Teaching: horrible nothing to prepare for testing. The teacher doesnt believe in homework and doesnt repeat herself to students ( what kind of teacher say things like that to 7-8 year olds) after going back and forth for MONTHS for changes the principal tried to manipulate the entire situation. He worries about data and numbers instead of the students and their education.

I demanded a class switch and the principal completely derailed that process as well. Saying he doesnt agree and PURPOSELY interfering . I am so frd up im pulling my student out of this school. It will NOT SUCCEED WITH PEOPLE IN PLACE TO LEAD A SCHOOL LIKE THE ONES THEY HAVE.

Every child is different but the fact is these teachers admin etc Have to be held accountable. Start using their own R.O.A.R. They lack accountability all the way around .

The lunch supervisor are completely terrible as well. They curse and talk to children rude and disrespectful and are not held accountable. If a student say thats not good words a child is told THEY are being disrespectful (like be for real) -Again principal DOES NOTHING even when brought to attention. Ridiculous.

My daughter attended woodland Elementary since the 1st grade. I was happy woth the school until her last year. A couple of months after Winter break, I noticed my daughter's behavior had drastically changed. She was acting out a lot, causing me to have to go the school multiple times. I found out she was being bullied by a child that had transferred into her class just after Winter break ( they can not divulgeaas to why). It wasn't the school who told me about the problems initially, it was the after school program- Champions Director. Thank God for her! They treated my child like she was the problem the entire time because she was tired of the bullying from this one student. I made the suggestion to transfer my child out of the class, which they did not honor until 3 weeks before school ended. Miracle has it, she was completely fine, back to her old self. We spent 3.5 months dealing with the incompetence of the Principle and Assistant Principal, which is very sad and can be harmful of student development and growth. I'm greatful it was her last year, I hope no other student has to endure this problem and lack of a action from this administration.

This school disappoints. I have tried to no end and Im pretty much giving up and removing my children. Its been a lot of tears and energy this year.

Our entire family went through this school. We had many instances of bullying and even broken bones that were not addressed. The principal denied it even though the evidence of the attack was still there to be seen. Another parent had to sue them to get their child's injuries paid for. Some of the teachers were not up to par even announcing on parent night that we should not try to contact her outside of school hours as she is working on her Master's Degree and will not respond. She also did not respond when we contacted her during school hours. I ended up sending our last child to Prairie Crossing in Middle School and am so glad we did. She was an Illinois State Scholar and light years ahead of her old classmates at Woodland. Woodland has lower level teachers over all although there are a few bright spots. The principals have been very bad at the elementary level but the middle school level they are more within the norm. I am writing this as a teacher in another district and parent. To taxpayers, beware! This districts spends a lot on salaries and little on students.

This is our first year in seat at the school and my daughter begs to go to school every morning (this should say something). As parents in the school have been limited because of COVID I cannot speak for any socioeconomic disparities within the school. But the communication and attentiveness by the administration and teachers has been top notch.

My daughter is extremely fond of her teachers. They have done a phenomenal job of going above and beyond in the toughest year of the pandemic. I don't think the great school score does justice to what this school has to offer.

My kids love this school, I love the fact that they have extra activities student that we dont have to pay out of our pocket costs, they care about their students, they send informational emails to the parents, they like parents to get involve, not not force to. The only thing I can suggest is school need to have each kid a Chrome book or IPad to bring home every day, from kindergarten to up & install important apps that the kids can play at home, for example math games & reading game. If kids want to play games on their phones or any electronic devices at home, mine as well play the apps from the school the Chrome books/IPad provides. With that said-with this pandemic that nobody has prepared for, schools need to equipped Chrome books/IPad in case things like this happen, other than that its a great school!

I would rate them 10/10! We have had a wonderful experience with this school! Both my children have IEPs and I have not had to fight for anything they deserve. These teachers want your children to thrive and I cant thank them enough for making a difference for both of my boys.

I have 3 kids and have been in the district for 9 years. From k-8 I have never had a teacher I didn't like. The district has always been ahead of the game when it comes to teaching respect and helping the kids get along. Any small issues I've dealt with have been rectified immediately. The schools are very organised and always seem to have thought of everything. I recommend the district all of the time and wil avoid leaving the district at all costs.

I do believe that the teachers are very responsive and my daughter has a great teacher but the principal is very disappointing and believes I get that she has to worry about 100s of kids but I believe this situation is important and if it were her kid she would probably feel the same way as me. I hope this message helps someone else. Im not speaking bad about the district just that the principal is not responsive and its very nerve reckoning.

I have my 8 yr old at this school amd while it's big my son has been blessed to have great teachers. I feel his 2nd grade teacher really cared about teaching them and helping the kids. There was a lot of homework to do at home but I thought it was good. Allowed me to be involved helping with his education. Love the school.

My son has been at Woodland since he was three. His teachers have all been supportive and he loves the school. In first grade, his teacher communicated with us constantly about his behavior. We had him evaluated and found he has ADHD. Since he started medication, he learned to read in a snap and has been doing wonderfully in school. I've been happy with Woodland since day one.

I used to work at Woodland School District 50 Elementary but now I work at Prairie Crossing Charter School. I love it at PCCS and I hated it at Woodland. I have many issues with this school but I will list two very important things. One. THE STUDENTS DO NOT GO OUTSIDE AT ALL. The only times the students go outside only for recess. THAT IS IT. No environmental learning at all. Another. Woodland is suing PCCS for no reason but money. The grades for the tests there are horrible but PCCS is great. I highly recommend PCCS and do not reccomend Woodland at all.

I have two children who've attended Woodland schools. I have to say that I am not impressed. We specifically moved to this area for the schools and have been nothing but disappointed. I have child with special needs who has attended Woodland since he was three. We realized that he wasn't getting everything he needed, but it wasn't until we moved out of the district until we saw how lacking Woodland's special education services are. My son has made more progress in two months in the new school than he did in 4 years there. The sheer number of students is a detriment in itself. It's as if the school does the bare minimum when providing resources. Maybe the district is over populated and under staffed?

My school is Woodland elementary west, Gurnee, IL. Teachers are very good, school is clean, class size is okay (22-24 children. However, there are way too many half days . The school day is one of the shortest in Illinois and I hope they can lengthen it by one hour. I know children have sports at the end of the day but not even half of those that go to sports will end up becoming a professional athlete. Focus of school is academiics .
