Great school! 2 of my kids go to this school. Very supportive and friendly teachers, principal and staff. I have had nothing but great experience with the school so far.

This school caters well to the 80, not the 20. The outlier struggle.

I believe that the administration of this district could be a great case study for why Common Core + Bureaucratic practices can be harmful to the overall educational process.
This school has been so highly recognized and rewarded over the years that the focus has shifted on maintaining that recognition. As a result, the approach has been to teach to a test, not to teach to learn.
The administration benefits from one of the largest tax bases in the state, which has meant administrative salaries way above the state average. Administrative Salaries as a percentage of overall budget has one of the highest ratios in Illinois. So while the Budget is large, so much goes to administrative overhead that teachers/students don't truly benefit. We have one of the lowest tenure rates of any of the districts that feed into Stevenson High School.
Finally, there has been an established practice of school board members resigning mid-term, rather than during an election cycle to ensure that the incumbent in seat remains someone selected by the Superintendent.

This district does not have a well defined program for Special Needs students. The IEP review discussion are run more like legal reviews to ensure no one signs up for anything that cannot be achieved. They are more focused on achievement of personal goals, than student achievement.

As parents, we've had issues with bullying. We've approached the school. No action has been taken.

Just average. If your child tends to be easy going and a typical learner this school might be fine, but generally speaking it is not an encouraging environment. Also there is poor communication with parents and only 30 minutes total of parent/teacher conference for the entire year. The students spend LOTS of time spent on ipads. There is little creative or free time. If your child is sensitive or learns a little differently, this is not the place for them. The kids take tests constantly (3-4 times per week) with little to show for it except high stress. Also, the teachers are in a lot of meetings and miss a significant amount of classroom time. My guess is that the teachers are great but they have to adhere to the D96 protocol which we find to be rigid, out-dated and stress inducing.

This is a very great school and community, teachers, principal, stuff and parents are all people friendly. my kids have been in this school / community for the pass three years, so far so good. Way to go Country Meadows !
