I love Westfield School (and all of the WHSD1 schools). The teachers and staff go above and beyond for their students. This is our 6th year with a child attending school in this school district, and we have four children currently enrolled. We have had nothing but good experiences.

We moved here from out of area so weren't 100% sure what to expect. We have had a really good experience here. The principal sets a great tone and we have had wonderful teachers. Homework is at an appropriate level. I appreciate that the kids have phys. ed., library, and art multiple times weekly. I also love the size of the school. It feels like a true neighborhood school.
One downside is that there is no busing. This makes drop off and pick up chaotic at times.
Overall a very good experience and we have been pleased with the progress our child has made.

The state of Illinois needs to take a look of the leadership and office staff. There are big problems and it is to the point that I am writing my congressman.

I love Winthrop Harobr School Dist and specifically bought a home in this district prior to even having children so they would be in the district. I have one child, currently in the early education program and I couldn't ask for more. He has a great teacher, with solid experience and educational background, a dedicated teaching assistant, and an amazing, intuitive speech therapist. His class integrates with the other preschool class at least once a week in the classroom and once a week in gym, which is great for his social skills and he is more receptive to having multiple authoritative figures, not just listening to one person or teacher. His teacher is available to talk anytime I've reached out via phone or email and we keep a notebook in his backpack to trade messages of more non-significant things, like "please send an extra hat" or "thanks for ...." ; keeping an open line of communication with the teacher I think is the best tool a parent can have. My son also has a life-threatening peanut allergy. The nurse knows him by name, is very cool, calm and organized. I'm confident she's prepared if he has a reaction at school. It's comforting to be in a small school district, where even the principal knows your child's name just because they're a student, not because of behavior or issues. <3 it there!

westfield is a great school if your looking for your child to be involved with learning.we moved in the area so our daughter could go there.the teachers are very good with the children.

My daughter has attended this school for 2 years and I have seen how much she has grown in all areas. The teachers I have experience with are pretty good teachers. I think the school hours should be longer, but other than that I have only had positive experiences with the school. I am on the verge of moving soon, and do not want to move out of this school district, because I do not think Zion, Waukegan or even Beach Park schools are comparable.

This school has some dedicated teachers, however some are only out for themselves and how they are portrayed to each other, almost like they are young students themselves. I've had serious issues that I've discussed with the principal and teachers that they brushed under the rug due to severe personal bias and the slander of myself by their staff. Personal issues have become so much an issue at the school, it is very uncomfortable for me to attend activities with my own children due to the damage that has already been done. I discussed this with the principal several times, to no avail. However, there are a couple teachers that have gone semi out of their way to be more helpful to me and our unique situation. My children get special treatment due to a new part of their family there, which isn't teaching them to be responsible and as accountable as the other children must be... and that is a disservice to them in the long run and is unfair to those who do their best. There is a lot of "lack" of professionalism at this school bottom line.
