The middle school is by far better than the high school. The staff in the office is on top of issues and investigating incidents. The the teachers for the most part do well at making sure that the students understand and so do the parents. But there are a few that seem to go to work to get paid. They don't put in extra effort to make sure students understand. They tend to write off some students. They don't take in consideration different learning capabilities in students and go to fast dump too much information in a small period of time with no breaks to reflect.

JCMS has been a solid choice for my oldest child, and I have no reservations about my next child attending as well. The school employs thoughtful, capable teachers who genuinely care about their students education. I especially appreciate the grace the teacher teams showed students as they transitioned from elementary school into sixth grade, giving them time to adjust to new classroom structures, grading methods, and academic expectations. My oldest child quickly learned that a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability plays an important role in success at JCMS. The curriculum in each subject has also been engaging and worthwhile.
I have heard some parents say they have had difficulty communicating with JCMS teachers or leadership, but that has not been our experience. Teachers and the principal are accessible through email, ParentSquare messaging, phone, and scheduled in-person meetings. In our experience, communication has been open, respectful, and constructive.
Like many schools, JCMS has faced student discipline challenges, but it has protocols and a tiered discipline system in place to address them. I have seen that the school works to hold students accountable while also giving them opportunities to improve. In my view, the schools approach is most effective when families and students work in partnership with staff to support better outcomes. Frankly, in my experience at JCMS, most student discipline issues have their basis in the students' home environment, not a lack of effort or training or care by staff and teachers. Overall, JCMS has provided a strong and supportive learning environment for my child.

Staff members and employees are rude and unprofessional toward kids and parents. Most staff members cant even follow their own policies.

This school is a mess. I mean, full on YIKES. I have never seen anything like this. First of all, half the staff are there for paychecks, not the students. I've met more rude staff members than not. If your child forgets an item at home for any reason, you are not allowed to bring that item to school for them, even books or laptops which hinders their learning and is outrageous. They ask these kids to do things that they themselves cannot always do. They have the kids sitting in math and language arts for 90 minutes EACH so they can teach to state testing, not for their knowledge. Science and social studies are an every other day class (Kind of important subjects to just be washing over) while they have 2 elective every day that they change 4 times a year. Save yourself the trouble and send your kids to Chapman.

I have a 7th grade grand child in your school. She has been bullied and picked on. She showed me a video of fight in school between to girls. No child should have go school afraid of whats going happen today. I know you are big school hard keep track but these are young kids, how much are learning if they are afraid. I never heard of a inter circle and outer circle but I guess have one. My granddaughter in outer circle she said. So it bad on them those are ones get bullied. Thank listening to me.

I have two students who attend JCMS, and it has been a wonderful place for them to develop into independent thinkers and learners. The teachers truly care about their students and are amazing communicators, I feel like I know everything I need to in order to help my kids succeed. There are lots of opportunities for them to be involved in sports and clubs and they have had awesome experiences both in and out of school. I wouldn't change anything about the school I know that everyone at the school wants what is best for my kids.

I have had 2 kids go through all 3 grades at this school and have 2 more currently enrolled. Their rules are beyond ridiculous. An example is they have to stay seated during a football game and can't get up at all to talk to friends except at halftime. They even try to control this at the High School games when they are with us, their parents. For academics they don't challenge kids, only worry about getting good enough grades for funding, not improving the child. They do a student led conference that gives the parent no real time to talk to teachers or discuss issues. It is a prepared folder of fluff and does not tell how your student is actually doing.

They put ideas into the children's minds instead of addressing it individually.

My child is struggling and I witnessed it from the beginning. I went to the teachers for assistance on how we can help her. They didn't even know what the problem was whether she was distracted, didn't care etc....

I couldn't be more displeased with this school. The teachers don't care about the kids and neither do the staff. It amazes me when they will turn away kids when they ask for help both on their academics as well as personally. I wish I would have looked at ratings and reviews before I sent my child there. When my child attended Lincoln Elementary, we couldn't of been more impressed with the staff and how much they truly cared.

This school is a newer school building and has a nice track area (walk/run track). The school itself is in a good location and is well maintained. Sports are generally more competitive than at Ft. Riley Middle School. This is the only middle school in junction city but there is one on post as well. Teachers and staff are good and I would recommend this school, especially if your student plays sports.
