My son has voice that he is overwhelmed in classes because the students are allowed and not on track and the teachers not doing much about it so it's hard for him to concentrate. So when he brought it up to the staff in the office they didn't do much to accommodate for him. They agreed about some diagnosis but didn't offer extra services even though it's evident that he is struggling in class. The food is God awful. It's always the same things on repeat. It's all processed and has tons of ingredients you can't pronounce which isn't good for you. Only thing decent is the fresh fruits and vegetables. which even those sometime are looking rough and rotten. There's kids always being loud in the Halls where they're not supposed to be during class. The hall monitors sit in the Halls on their phones instead of redirecting the students to do what they're supposed to be doing during class time when they're in the Halls. Teachers, staf,f and hall monitors do not enforce the rules of no phones during passing period or when they have a pass to go to the bathroom. They limit the amount of times a student can go to the bathroom. Which is ridiculous for females. The janitorial services do the bare minimum to keep the school clean and disinfected. The superintendent and the districts priorities are out of order. It's more important to build big flashy schools then to put money in the elementary schools. so that they have kitchens in order to prepare meals without it being delivered to them in hot boxes. God only knows how long the food sits in these hot boxes before they're served to the students. I've had several of my kids complain about burnt food, cold food, and moldy food. I thought they were over exaggerating until I worked in the school cafeteria myself and witnessed it myself and was Disturbed. There's no focus nor do they think of the importance in nutrition and serving sizes for the kids. They serve the middle school students the same amount of food as they serve the elementary students. Then they only give a tiny bit more for the high school students. The high school doesn't have a lot of opportunities for parent involvement.

We have had nothing but positive experiences with JCHS. Our daughter’s teachers are all very responsive and truly care about inspiring their students.

Junction City High School was a great experience for my child. They were allowed to try different classes in various career fields before graduating. This allowed them to decide what they wanted to do before wasting thousands of dollars changing majors in college. The teachers were available when I had questions and honest with their feedback. I also loved that they were able to get several college hours for free junior and senior year. The school spirit is amazing, and they take a lot of pride in the community.

Some of the teachers are the best. Administrators care more about federal money from being partners with Fort Riley. Added security was a bonus, however students are still bringing in contraband items that could be deemed dangerous. The rules implemented without parent feedback about cellular devices questions the administrations motivation. It’s either they don’t want the fights on social media or they are controlling the students social aspects. They enjoy the federal dollars from special needs but will do everything in their power to prevent IEPs from being followed when attendant care is required.

JCHS offers a modern take on college and trade preparedness by being designed as a career academy campus wall to wall, where students can engage in elective courses that align with their future career interests—many courses that provide certifications and trade skills beyond a standard classroom to better prepare students for life after high school. The school not only focuses on students’ individual plans of study with their career interests but it also offers many AP and college dual credit courses as well. JCHS also has a much more extensive SPED program and EL department to help students who may need added supports as opposed to neighboring schools. All in all, the school district has done wonders in recent years to bring the community together through business partnerships both in the academics and athletics. The new state-of-the-art facility offers an array of classrooms with hands on opportunities in AV communications, tax preparation, military connections, construction, auto, welding, agriculture, criminal justice, health, culinary, fine arts, etc.

My son has a 504 for adhd/ high functioning autism and the things he needs to succeed are what the teachers ridicule him for. No understanding for the kids that appear normal but have serious struggles, they get treated as just being lazy and over looked. Thank God i have my sons back and together he will succeed but not at the good grades he could have if he was only helped and understood. My sons health is more important than a 4.0 though.

With the exception of the AP classes offered (which have teachers who actually care), this school has a very low standard of education. In a geometry course, an upperclassman asked the teacher how to find the area of a rectangle. The teacher responded, “Just count how many squares there are,” and left their explanation at that. They advertise themselves as “military friendly” but do not cooperate well with students who need certain course requirements for different schools. In addition, for boasting about their impeccable standards of “diversity and inclusivity,” the liberal arts courses especially have been repeatedly hostile to the Christian worldview.

The administration in this school is by far the worst I've seen, from the schedule changes from the 2021-2022 year to the 2022-2023 year, to the amount of fights happening almost every day. This school is extremely dangerous and unsafe for almost anyone, especially the lunches.

I'm a junior and I want leave. There are some cool teachers, but otherwise, if I had to describe the school, it would be a basket of popeyes biscuits with no Drink. This school is dry, no service, no good food, and not a single person cares about education
Like how do you get a 3/10, not even a 5/10. If I had to choose between a mayo packet and this school. The mayo packet would of won. I don't reccomend this school.

Worst school in America. If you are different NOBODY will like you, constant bullying and the coaches, are support the bullying and say "get used to it it's life" I say if your on your way here turn around or get ready for the worst school year of your life.

My son goes to the freshman success academy! Let me just say his teacher's are awesome! I was so scared that he would not fit in ext. He loves the football program and the teachers that surround him! I really have nothing bad to say about this school! His teacher's are on top of everything and great communication! We are a military family and my son has great grades more outgoing and loves school!!!!!!!!

There are some wonderful teachers. We had only problems with two teachers. Leadership is not very helpful to student problems.

I am a parent of several children who have graduated from the Junction City Senior High School. My husband and I have been very pleased with their education. They were all very involved in activities such as musicals, show choirs, sports, etc. They were fortunate to have experienced such a diverse population at the High School. Students of many different nationalities and cultures attend here because of Ft. Riley, a military post. My children are well rounded and successful people in part due to their experience at this HS. It prepared them for the World. My son just graduated this past May. Many of his friends are those whose parents are in the Military. We feel that these are life long friends for him. These young people have come in to our home and hung out with us and we feel very close to them as well. The Military Families have been a real asset to this community and to our family. Another asset is the Football Program at the Junction City High School. It has provided many young people a sense of belonging. The coaching staff is very supportive. Good values are emphasized and encouraged. Junction City schools are in general great! The High School is no exception.

I'm in my second year at JCHS, and I must say there is ALOT to say about it. Teachers favor the student's that wish to work. If you come in and sleep they will not put that much effort into you. There is alot that can be improved. It has many clubs, many chances for you to get involved. The classes are not good. The way they have ti set up makes no sense, plus you can easily glitch through the system and get in classes you're not suppose to be in. "Required voluntary service hours" You heard me, They are REQUIRED, but they're suppose to be VOLUNTARY. Each student must get 34 of these hours by their final year at this school. I do not think this school is a good one. I've gotten into clubs and everything, but the school just asks way to much form its students. They expect us to plan out our whole life in 2-3 weeks. Every year they make you RE-PLAN it all, then ask if you're sure. One teacher might support you, then the next one will tell you it's terrible, tearing down your spirits and hopes about your future. The students are friendly and loving, most of the time. Other than the amount of clubs and sorta nice students this school as nothing going for it.

We are a military family and have been at Ft Riley for about 10 months. My daughter is a 9th grader at the Freshman Success Academy. She has always been an Honor Roll Student and still is. My complaint with this school is how discriminating they are towards military children when it comes to sports. If you are not from small town JC then you can forget about getting a fair shot on the girls basketball team, no matter how good you are trained or play. I am not some bitter parent whose child did not make the team. My daughter did make the team and she's a starter. My problem with this basketball program is 1) the coaching and 2) instead of stacking their teams with the best players, they stick to "their own" meaning the JC hometown girls regardless if they are good ball players. If you are looking for a quality girls basketball program that is going to help groom your daughter for possible college scholarships, look else where. For any parent whose daughter is passionate about basketball like mine is, and you're a military family, good luck at this school!

My son is just starting his sophomore year and first year at JCHS, but as far as I know the school seems to be caring. This year I didn't have to remind the IEP program manager of my sons IEP. The school has a policy from USD 475 of no tolerance of bullying. This is big on my mind, due to my son having ADHD. So far so good.

This school is great. Not only is it diverse but offers a wide range of classes for kids of all different interests. Like any schools there are some teachers who are less than preferable, however overall the teachers are hands on and extra helpful. They're working on going paperless and getting each student a tablet and the addition of the Freshman Success Academy has allowed the Freshman class to accommodate to the policy and ways of the high school before entering the bigger campus. The sports programs are very favorable as well allowing many opportunities to grow and flourish as an athlete as well as helping many get recruited for college. Great for military families as the culture is diverse and they have a Military child support group where military children can get together and engage in fun and unique activities that help them cope with the constant change and stress of being military affiliated. Overall a well rounded and well diverse school. Any child can take anything from it!

This is the only only high school for the district, it is a 6A school so it is a very big high school. The current building is an older building and they are discussing building a new one. Right now the Freshman are in a different building. The marching band is a pretty good band and most sports at the high school are decent. There is a lot of competition to get on the teams because the school is so big. I went to high school here all four years and I also hosted foreign exchange students that have gone here, we have never had any problems. The school is in a good location and is within walking distance from a lot of housing areas, there are also buses that run from Ft. Riley as well as inside Junction City.
