Eisenhower Elementary School

I’ve had two children attend Eisenhower Elementary from kindergarten through fifth grade, and both have continued to be successful students in the district. Over the years, we have worked with around 10 teachers and instructors, and I have had no significant concerns with any of them. They are well trained, dedicated to their work, and each brings individual strengths to the classroom.

I especially appreciate that the principal and administration allow teachers the flexibility to use those strengths to create successful learning environments. The principal is a classy, professional leader whose top priority is the students, with a clear focus on strong instruction and appropriate discipline.

At one point, one of my children had some minor discipline concerns. Even then, the intervention team and teachers remained supportive and encouraging. They developed a plan that was specific, realistic, and measurable, and it helped address the issue successfully.
I know some parents have mentioned communication challenges, but that has not been our experience. We have found communication with the school to be open, honest, timely, and constructive.

Overall, Eisenhower Elementary gave my children a strong academic and social foundation, and I’m grateful for the role the school has played in their growth and success.

I have worked at Eisenhower for several years and really enjoy teaching there. I feel supported by the administration and my colleagues. Both of my children attend school at Eisenhower and they love their teachers. They love learning new things and have made some great friends. We are very proud to be Eisenhower Eagles!

I have had 3 kids attend this school over the last 7 years, and they have all had a great experience. The teachers and principal are kind and caring, and my kids have thrived in their education.

Worked at this school for one year and was done. The administration was toxic to me and the staff. I never got the support I needed from administration or the parents. I’m so glad I got out when I did. No teacher should have to put up with i put up with. This school and this district is where teacher careers go to die.

The administrative staff is attentive and courteous to both parents and students. I've only had a negative experience from one teacher who no longer works at the school. My experiences with all other teachers have been prompt and positive.

I consider a homework approach to be aligned with individual teachers rather than the school. Thus far the homework assignments are assigned in moderation. Enough to enforce what is being taught in the classroom, but not overwhelming for students or parents.

Some teachers are better than others across the board. This year I'm very happy with the progress my 2nd grader has experienced with his teacher. She is awesome!

A new principle was hired for school year 2018-2019 and I've seen a tremendous amount of progress and changes at the school during the 2019-2020 school year. She shows a great deal of care and compassion and is supportive and responsive to parents and the student’s learning environment. When I speak to teachers, they are upbeat and positive which I believe reflects well on the environment the principal and other leaders cultivate. Additionally, a significant safety issue was addressed and resolved this year by changing the traffic patterns for school drop-off and pick-up.

I haven't had a situation arise in which I had to address bullying, but I believe it is addressed promptly.

Not too much busy work. Effective reviews and study guides, enough to make it educational, but not overwhelming to students nor overburdening first parents.

My son is in the autism program here. We came from another state with a much larger district, and Geary County has an AMAZING autism program. I LOVE his teacher and the paras. They go above and beyond for their students.

The entire staff at Eisenhower is extremely caring, supportive, and knowledgeable. The principal knows every student in her school, the district administrators are familiar with my child, and USD 475 has always put students first.

I have a love/hate relationship with this school. I have always ADORED my kids teachers each year. They are loving, caring, and great educators. However, the secretaries, one in particular, that are terrible to the students. I have personally witnessed their rudeness on several occasions that I was in the office. Once a special needs child came into the office and just wanted to say hello and reached his hand across the desk just to touch the hand of the office lady, and she acted disgusted and shooed him back to class. Another time my child came home broken hearted because one of the secretaries belittled and demeaned another special needs child in the full cafeteria over a misunderstanding that left this child in tears and inconsolable. It is obvious they don't like children and have no business working in a school. After so many complaints about this one secretary in particular, I can't believe she still has a job. It is sad, but it really is "who you know". As far as the principal goes, she is a tough lady, but I think you have to be as a principal. I do think she genuinely cares for the success of the school and the students, and this is why she is so tough. I just wish she would replace the rude secretary.

I rate this school a 1 only because of the staff working in the office. Including the principal. They are people who show favoritism and make children and parents feel low. This school is not fit to be a safe environment with people who can't respect each child as an equal. All the teachers my children have had so far have been great.

If I could rate this zero stars I would! Most of the staff are great but the principal and secretary are mean to students. I would never send my kids here!!!!!

The teachers suck, And they push the kids to hard, come on its forth graders your teaching not college kids...

This is a great school and the principal has been there many many years. I personally know many of the teachers and they are great teachers. The building is being updated and added on to right now, the play ground could use some updating but overall it is a great school with nice facilities. It is right next to a daycare so if you have elementary aged kids and daycare aged kids it is very convenient. It is also in a nice neighborhood so living in the area that Eisenhower services is a good area.
