Kids went through Bergman. The former principal (until 2019) was fantastic. Her skills, personality, and understanding of what young kids need to feel safe and thrive was wonderful, and we loved every day at Bergman. Now we have a new principal (Mr. K@#!) who has taken the heart and joy out of this school and turned it into a "my way or the highway" kind of place. Ugh. And the VP uses a bull horn to shout at kids during their "no talking" lunches, and takes away recess time if the kids fidget. Seriously. The teachers are, overall, very highly skilled and care about the kids. Can't say that about the principal or the VP.....if you are looking to live on the west side, maybe consider Amanda Arnold until the current administrators retire.....

I live this school, my kids previously went to another school here in Manhattan that we liked bit when we switched to Bergman I was very impressed. The staff has always been nice and very helpful. They have great programs for any type or level or learning style and they are very caring about each child.

Bergman Elementary helps children learn to walk among a crowd with different socio-economic backgrounds, races, primary language and physical abilities. Principals, Teachers and staff strive to push your child to their very best both educationally and socially through the 5 pillars of character. The before, after and summer program BLAST (Bergman Learning After School Time) is amazing for working parents. Children have a great time and don't even realize that they are learning after school. I can not recommend Bergman high enough to future students.

Yes, I have reviewed before but, I wanted to one more time. The ore I know about Bergman, the more I like! Especially the after school program BLAST ... amazing, affordable, and such a great experience for my daughter.. Each day is a different "theme" one day she'll be involved in something *sciency*, the next, reading, the next day a P.E. type activity, etc. She loves it and has a chance to make even more friends because of the kids being able to mingle more than during the regular school day. Great teachers and assistants at Bergman! I am so happy we were placed here for her 1st grade year!

Absolutely impressed by the office staff and facilities at Bergman! My daughter loves it, too.
