If your Christian faith matters and you want to nurture a genuine love of Jesus in your child, pursue a strong Bible-believing church and family discipleship. This school does not edify children spiritually, and leadership dysfunction risks creating resentment toward Christianity itself. Academics are below local public schools.

Teachers are largely mission-driven but often young and inexperienced. Turnover is high due to low pay relative to public school pay. Our child lost academic ground while enrolled and recovered quickly after leaving for public school with more experienced educators.

Discipline is inconsistent and often shows favoritism toward athletes or well-connected students. Bullying is inadequately addressed, including when evidence is clear.

Affluence is expected at private schools, and this one is no exception. While not inherently bad, it can blind students to the realities most kids face, particularly in public schools. More money often brings more problems, and some students develop a strong sense of entitlementvery much a born on third, thought they hit a triple mindset.

By the time we decided to leave I was very concerned that my kid was on the wrong track. A year later he has been recognized as student of the month, is in beta club, has a strong friend group and is much happier. Most importantly, his faith has also grown stronger since we left.

Save the $150,000-$200,000 (K-12), invest in college, and pair public school with a strong church community. If choosing faith-based education in Louisville, the Catholic schools do it better with higher academic rigor.

CAL allows bullying. A student who threatened my child's life didn't even receive a demerit or suspension. They did, however, receive a demerit for not bringing in $2 for dress down day. The administration lied to us and hid major safety issues from us. Sadly, the school has become money-hungry and overcrowded...for the wealthy, instead of a good Christian school. Character is lacking in the leadership, inconsistency in discipline, sub-par education, horribly disrespectful and unkind behavior from athletes is allowed. Our kids have learned so many inappropriate and sexually explicit things from the other students there. It's shocking that when such things have been brought to leadership, they continue to blow it off. It's very sad.

Dear Parents, please dont judge a book by its cover. From the outside looking in, this school looks absolutely amazing. Your children or childs chance of succeeding here is close to 100% if they are a white Anglo Saxon male or female. However, if you are of color, your childs chance of flourishing is less than 25%. By far, this has been the worst educational experience we have ever had. Heartache could have been spared had we read some of the previous reviews. The school is oblivious of its microaggressions toward non white students. Teachers are young, inexperienced,, culturally insensitive and sadly unresponsive to parent concerns. Communication
is well below subpar. Even the administrators made inappropriate comments to our children such as I wonder what brought you to CAL. How about the desire for the best education possible for our children. The turn over rate is very high for staff of color as well. The worst part about our experience at CAL is you dont get what you pay for: a great education, infused with a Christian focus from well meaning God loving and God fearing people who care about the positive growth and development of all students. You will spend more money with your child in therapy undoing the damage caused by the adults who should not hold the title of teacher or educator. I can not recommend this school for students of color or students of color with disabilities and I wish we would have read the reviews. Save your money, choose a smaller private school or find a home school community. All that glitters isnt gold.

This school has poor leader ship, and it shows throughout the whole school, especially high school. There is blatant racism that is not addressed. It is swept under the rug on a regular basis. My son was hit at the school yet he was the one that was punished if you are a person of color, please do not think you are doing your child a service by sending them to this school. You are purely paying for a name. The education is not advanced, and the learning environment is not inclusive. They charge for every single thing and I mean every single thing. They charge if your child has to go to detention, there is no accountability from administration to teachers to children of non-color. My son was called the N-word and the child was suspended for one day. This school is absolutely horrible. They will let you shadow and sell you something that is not going to come to fruition. Long story short this school only wants your money and only if your child is a bright shining star.

My daughter graduated in 2018 and my son graduated in 2022. They were both lifers. My daughter graduated early from college and works with a prosecutors office and is working on her security clearance for the ATF. My son was the valedictorian at CAL and is a Duley at the United States Air Force Academy . They both excelled in college, that is a result of Christian Academy of Louisville.

If you don't want your child to grow up hating themselves, with depression, and suicidal then send them elsewhere. This school encourages bullying and discrimination in every facet of the culture and curriculum. It's frankly disgusting what goes on in this school and every person of authority there should be ashamed of the harm they're doing to these kids.

Dont do it! Academically, CAL is mediocre at best and way overpriced. There are a handful of good teachers in the school and the rest are subpar. CAL is marginally better than an average public school. Spiritually, the effects of affluence, cliques, and drugs drown out the message of the school and any semblance of a Christian culture. Not friendly to students who start at CAL in high school. The sports programs have improved to the point of dominating the culture to the detriment of discipline. Weak overall leadership.

Most of the diversity at this school comes from foreign exchange students. Black students are often viewed as threats and punished more harshly than their white peers. The administration refuses to the racism that is widely accepted at this school.

The principal at Rock Creek is subpar. She doesn't care about kids who would typically qualify for accelerated courses or those that may be struggling in areas that they may not necessarily focus on.

My child had an excellent experience in elementary. The teachers were great and the special areas were wonderful too. Prior to my child moving into middle school, I was concerned about the thought of middle school and remembered how it was a difficult time for me. I have been completely thrilled with Christian Academy of Louisville Middle School (CALMS). My child is thriving at CALMS academically, spiritually, socially and with extra curricular activities. There are activities of all types for students to choose from that enhance education, build confidence and friendships. The teachers have been fabulous and they truly care about the students. The administration can't be beat. The band program has been phenomenal. The Drama program is excellent. The chapel services are meaningful. We have had an excellent experience at CAL elementary and CALMS. I highly recommend this school and given a choice to send my child to any school out there, I would choose Christian Academy of Louisville over anywhere.

Our family has been at CAL for six years. All of our teachers have been great. Kind, caring and compassionate all while sharing Gods message. Both of my children have learning challenges (ADHD and Dyslexia) We have received tremendous support based on each childs different needs. Im so thankful my children are experiencing this level of education and most importantly the love of Jesus in their time at school.

We have chosen to place all of our children at Christian Academy and have been absolutely pleased with our decision. Our oldest is getting ready to graduate and she is more than ready for college. We feel that she has been challenged and encouraged and has grown in character during her time at CAL. Our other two are excelling as well. We have been satisfied with homework load, not too much, not too little. The reading program in elementary has made some changes in recent years which has been a huge improvement. We couldn't picture our children going anywhere else for school. We are very thankful for a Christ centered education among caring and thoughtful teachers and administration.

My son from 5th-8th grade had minimal to no homework. They were allowed to study for tests just prior to taking them so he also has no study habits. Despite having several missing assignments a quarter he some how manages to get mostly As and Bs because they basically grade on a curve.

We reached out to leadership and were told they can't keeps kids engaged more the 20/25 minutes of teaching. Since the school has 1.5 hour blocks that leaves lots of time for the students to do classwork/homework/studying in class. How will students learn time management or study habits when going all thru middle school this way.

Our son has attended three years, and I had homeschooled him for two years prior to enrolling at CAL. He aced the entrance exam, scoring higher than 98 percent of students at CAL in math. We have had LOADS of homework, he is always on the A,B honor roll, yet his standardized test scores continue to fall every year. I asked one teacher for some extra help for my son in a specific area, and she told me she charged 30 dollars an hour for tutoring. As a former teacher myself, I was appalled, as I offered help to my students on a weekly basis after school UNPAID. That's what teachers who care about students do. Not worth the money!! We are seeking other options for next year.

This is a terrible school. The students are absolutely ruthless. My brother and I transferred out as quickly as we could. The administration does not care for the students, as my brother received death threats, and they did nothing about it. They education isn't much better than the public school's. It isn't worth it at all. Send your child to a catholic school if you are looking for a fantastic educational and friendly experience, even if you aren't catholic, as I am not.

They claim to want to focus on building a child in wisdom and stature like Jesus and to partner with parents in educating their children. Beware, if your child does not fit into their specific "learning box" they will find a way to weed you out. I believe this is to keep their numbers up, so they have pretty PowerPoints to show to parents at orientations. Their learning is very focused on auditory learning, so if your child is visual or kinesthetic, they will will struggle. Sadly, most younger children are not auditory and they do not make adjustments for the other learning styles in the classroom. If you child has any learning disabilities, even the most minor, they will not be willing to work with you on a specific plan for your child. I had such high hopes at this school and after one year there was so sadly disappointed. I would never recommend this school to anyone!

When my two oldest children went to CAL and excelled and were also well prepared for two of the best universities in the nation, I knew it was an awesome school. However, It wasn't until we moved away and tried to find a comparable school for my youngest in other cities, that we realized that CAL is in a class of its own!! The academics are superb and the spiritual foundation was was beyond reproach. We could not imagine sending our children to any other school if we lived in Louisville!

Do not make the mistake of sending your children to this horrible school. I am a freshman currently at this school and am stuck going to this school because my parents can't afford to send me to a better school. The students there are stuck up, mean, and just plain unfriendly. Not a good environment at all. The teachers are too busy to help the students out so the students are basically on their own. It is also very overpriced and not worth the tuition. Sometimes I wonder if even public school would be better then this pathetic joke of a school. This school has a huge problem with bullying and is extremely competitive, and not in a good way. The school only wants your money, they don't care about you. They are prejudice towards the richer students that don't donate to the school. Everyone there are hypocrites. "Christian" is just a mask they put up, on the inside people there only care about themselves.

I currently attend Christian Academy, and am in high school. I've been going here for almost all of my school years. I love this school. I feel like, as an honors and AP student, I'm being challenged in my classes. My teachers are not only there to back me up and help me when I need it, but they have been incredible role models and have supported me in my faith. I know people have been disappointed in the some of the students from Christian Academy, but that should not be put on the school. Any school you look at will have students that don't necessary reflect what it stands for; that doesn't make the school itself any different. The athletic program has taken leaps in the past year and really made an impression. The music program cannot be overlooked, it has really moved forward in the past few years. In all honesty, the chapels have varied from causing me to completely check out to making me rethink a lot of things (in a good way). This year, however, I feel like a lot has changed and they have gotten much better, as well as helped me to strengthen my relationship with God. To sum this all up, I absolutely love my school, I can't imagine going anywhere else.

I graduated from CAL in 2012, and I would never recommend it to any parent. At CAL I took almost every AP class I could and received all A's. After comparing with friends who went to other schools I do not feel I received any better of an education, and as a college student I can say it does no better a job preparing your student than any other school. After attending for 6 years there is only a handful of teachers that are truly worth the tuition. This school does not reflect Christian values. It is all politics and very hypocritical. Your child will not be surrounded by godly leaders like you are lead to believe. The administration is callused and unprofessional. This school has a problem with bullying, drugs,and students sleeping around; Christian Academy just does a very good job of covering this up. My advice is do not waste your time.
