After 14 years at St. Luke's I am sad to see our time there come to a close. Both my children started in PK3 and it has been a wonderful, nurturing environment. The facukity and staff make sure each family feels welcomed and important. They truly have every child's best interest at heart. My son is a junior at Catholic High and has accelled academically and has the confidence to be a leader. My daughter will graduate in May and we feel extremely confident that she is well prepared academically and socially for high school. St. Luke's provided our children with an opportunity to explore their talents outside the classroom. Students have the opportunity to participate in several sports and middle school students can select theater as an elective. This year the production was Aladian Jr and it was amazing. Middle School students also have an opportunity to participate in area math competitions and easily take home several individual and team awards. The small class size allows teachers to get to know each child as an individual and provide extra help if needed or accelerated lessons if your child is ready to move ahead. Our family highly recommends St. Luke's.

As a former middle school student, this is my honest review; This school was the absolute worst experience of a school I have had and will ever have in my life. As someone who normally enjoys learning and art, this was a devastating letdown. For guideline reasons, I shall refrain from elaborating. Although, I will say, that this school is overly expensive and a waste of your child's academic and creative skills. The teachers, to say the least were.. odd. I would kindly correct my own math teacher and she'd practically scream, shake her head, and yell at me until I was forced to leave the room. There are free or cheaper schools in which you could send your child that have a better learning environment and better learning overall. If you want to punish your child and your bank account at the same time then, by all means, send them to St. Luke's Episcopal Day School where years of learning and fun are thrown to waste. Now that you've heard my plead, please do not send your child here.

St. Luke's is amazing! The environment is so friendly and warm. The moment you step foot on campus, you will be welcomed with open arms. The teachers are incredible, the academics are top-notch, the electives are impressive, and the administration is insightful. Students at St. Luke's are encouraged to think critically, question thoughtfully, and care unconditionally. We are lucky to have such an exceptional school.

We started off having a great experience at St Luke's, but if your child doesn't fit their mold of what a student should be, they do not want to work with you. It's unfortunate that the administration has changed. We loved this school for its small size, religious aspect, and their motto Be Kind posted around the school. There are some genuinely nice and engaged teachers there. Enrichment teachers do a really good job as well. However, if your child is ever going to cause a disruption in the class, you will get a call from the principal. The principal is a former marine and any dissension in the rank will be dealt with in a way unfamiliar to past experiences at St Lukes. There is nothing to justify the high tuition as compared to what other private schools in the area can offer.

Good school. Outcomes include 8th graders who score in the top 16% nationally on the ACT Aspire test. Curriculum focuses on Reggio Emilia in pre-K, solid reading program in lower graders and a strong math foundation. Teachers are engaged and pass on a love of learning to their students.

Community feel with lots of opportunities for parental involvement (Bayou Bash, room parents and Publishers Tea). Operated safely and in-person throughout '20-21 school year thanks to Administration and Safe Opening committee

Nice, safe campus with highly engaged art, music and religion teachers.

this school has high teacher turnover, which should be a warning sign. all of these positive reviews are from January/February 2020 and posted by their board members right before re-enrollment. the leadership at this school keeps going from bad to worse - no vision for the future. just inconsistent, mediocre education not worth the ten thousand tuition you pay. the falling enrollment should be a wake-up call.

no consistency among the teaching methods. it varies from grade to grade. some are good, some are terrible, and the head of school couldn't tell you what is being taught in any classroom.

SLES doesn't want to saddle the kids with hours of homework each night. Rather, they are teaching the organizational skills and preparedness to the children as well as helping to reinforce the self-responsibility component that we work on at home.

Over the last couple of years, there's been a change in administration...for the better. More strategic long-term plans are being put in place and the execution of the leadership within the school is very thoughtful and considerate of where we are now and where we want to be in the future.

There is not presently a non-standard learning curriculum in place (like Gifted & Talented, etc.), but I understand that they are working on incorporating these for kids who learn differently than others.

I have had two kids go through St. Lukes and in my 13th year as a praent there. I can tell you both of my kids are great students. My oldest was well prepared for high school both socially and academically. He has maintained a 3.7 gpa with many honors and A/P classes as part of his schedule.

They reinforce strong character building values with our children; how to be respectful, compassionate. The older kids are given opportunity to serve as big buddies / mentors to younger kids. Part of their duties in that capacity are sitting with them in chapel to help them and serve as role models to them. They also have close partnership with nearby school for children with communication and learning challenges. Our kids are able to attend chapel with them, partner in various activities and projects throughout the year.

Class sizes are small enough for teachers to teach to the average student as well as students who are gifted and those who may need extra attention. They have access to tutors also.

Best kept secret in Baton Rouge! Smaller class sizes and nurturing environment allow the students to learn and grow at their pace and become confident in their abilities. PreK through 8th grade model allows students unique leadership opportunities. The St Luke's Sharks also offer opportunities for kids interested in athletics and the arts. We're excited for what the future holds for our kids.

A student with learning challenges who had been at St. Luke's for 4 years, was dismissed one week into the school year. The parents were given no warning of the dismissal. The administration approved registering the child for the new school year, and full tuition was paid. No warning meeting or grace period was given to the parents to find another school. This does not constitute support IMO.

Up until August 2019, I would have given it a favorable review. Now I could not recommend it to anyone because of the way the parents and child were treated by the administration. How do you tell a child that has known only St. Luke's as their school that they are not welcome there anymore?

There is a very high teacher turnover rate. It's hard to know what to expect from year to year.

They dismissed an autistic student after the first week of school among others. If your child doesn't fit there profile of what a "perfect" student looks like they are gone. This is not modeling compassion or Christianity.

They do not support gifted students (they advise to medicate them) They do not support dyslexic students (some have left for Brighton School) They do not support student's with autsim. These are the differences that i personally know of that they don't support.

We were drawn by the small class size, but honestly I wish I would have chosen the largest class size or public school over this. Don't let there beautiful pictures fool you they can afford a full time photographer, but not a school nurse.... The children and parents are great but this school is a very unstable place. If you are able to afford it here you may as well pass on St. Luke's and go for Episcopal instead.

My child was bullied by students of this school, and the teachers had the nerve to join in. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. My child suffered self esteem issues for many years because of this school. Not to mention that they were WITHOUT math for months, because one of teachers left. This school needs to be exposed for the scam that it is.

I have three children and they have all attended St. Luke's. It is a wonderful, nurturing school. They have many great after school programs and sports options too. I would definitely recommend!

This school has gone above and beyond our expectations. It has been a wonderful experience for both of our kids, and we have seen them blossom tremendously in such a nurturing environment. Would highly recommend St. Lukes to anyone.

90% of the teachers don't have lesson plans planned out for that day, so they would give students all the necessary assignments at the end of the week and were expected to have the given assignments (that took 2 hrs. to work on ) the next day.

This school is in need of continued development. In all honesty, it really has nothing to offer students. It's programs are 3-star at best and teachers are not the most experienced or qualified. There is limited communication between administration and parents, issues are swept under the rug. The school is constantly asking for donations and contributions. There is a serious lack of diversity and no options for students who show gifted potential. I had high hopes for this school and was terribly disappointed. This truly is not a school, but rather a church's experiment in attempting to create some sort of academic environment, at which it has failed miserably.

I LOVE St. Luke's! Our family has been there for 7 years. We now have a child in 5th and one in 2nd. I am from Baton Rouge and went to another Episcopal school. I am a child psychologist and have been in many schools- hands down this was the best choice. The education is excellent and incorporates current research on teaching methods and child development. The faculty and staff are amazing and responsive to needs. The atmosphere is loving, nurturing, and encourages family involvement. Christina values are incorporated in all aspects education. This school truly takes care of the "whole child!"

The posts below were made as a result of the school requesting positive comments to this site. St. Lukes has changed a lot over the last few years. The tuition has increased every year , and yet the teaching is mediocre at best, especially in the middle to upper grades. I think this school needs to change and evolve and listen to the parents. The school would definitely benefit from a changing of the old guard. My children still attend but I am looking at Episcopal for next year!

The environment of St. Luke's is so loving and nurturing, I know my children will learn so much more than the curriculum that is provided. I am especially impressed with the care and concern that has been shown to my 2nd grader our daily struggles with her ADHD. We wouldn't trade St. Luke's for the world!

I love St. Luke's. I have two kids enrolled, a 1st & 5th grader, both have been there since Pre K. I love that the environment is not only academically challenging, it's also very nurturing. The kids are provided with so many opportunities to grow and develop their social & leadership skills. the Pre K - 8th grade model is incredible. Middle school can be hard enough for our young ones. Rather than focus on what the high schoolers are doing, wearing and learning, our middle school kids are learning how to be leaders, big buddies & mentors to the younger kids. Our kids transition well on into high school and are sought after by many of the top schools in town.

St. Luke's has been our school of choice for eight years. Both of my children started in Pre-K and are currently in 6th and 3rd grades. St. Luke's has been nothing less than outstanding. Both my husband and I, as well as our children, have made lifelong friends from the families we have met at St. Luke's. The caring family atmosphere combined with the academically challenging environment have made every year a fantastic experience. My oldest began middle school at St. Luke's this year, and we could not be more pleased with the appropriateness of the level of responsibility placed on the middle schoolers in addition to their challenging cirriculum. and learning to be the leaders of the school.

My son has been at St. Luke's since Pre-K and is now in the 5th grade. Each year we think we couldn't possibly get a teacher that we loved as much as the prior year, but even though they all have different teaching styles, we love them all. We love the nurturing environment and spiritual education that St. Luke's provides. We love the fact that the Middle School students are the leaders on campus and don't have high schoolers to compare themselves to. They can get through that awkward stage of adolescence in a safe environment. He is excited to start Middle School next year!

This is an amazing school: intimate, loving,family oriented. The teachers are wonderful nurturing people. The staff know each child by name. In addition the school offers to the kids enrichment classes (art, music, pe, library) plus a wide variety of after school activities. Smart boards in the rooms, iPads, laptops, latest technology for the kids to flourish. My two children have grown so much and are confident in who they are all because of a strong foundation St. Luke's has instilled in them. This is the best decision we have made for our kids!
