My husband and I both attended this school in the early 2000s. We are now in our late 30s and looking back we can see how it impacted our lives in a big way. Evangel equipped us to succeed. We recently just enrolled both of our children and it has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. They have the education, sports, and all the rest, but if you want to teach your kid how to be a leader, love people and be loved, and follow the Holy Spirit too this is the right school for you. The teachers and staff genuinely care about your kids and several have been invested in this school since I attended. It is also innovative and strives to excel and not set in old ways and open to new ideas. Don’t read these reviews go and experience this school for yourself. You will be glad you did!

If you are tied to the church in a big way, have some way to donate money or services, or your kid is a football player who has potential you will LOVE it here. If you're vaguely a part of the church, care about "Christ in school" and are impressed with fluff certifications that mean nothing and titles and your kid has potential that a select few teachers or they themselves are going to utilize you will REALLY LIKE it here....

If you want a place that sounds like a great school to send your kid because you don't want to feel bad about not pushing them or doing actual research about schools, you'll ENJOY it here.

If you're a sane human who is actually looking for a good school to send your kid, AVOID this place like a plague. Kids who do not fit the mold or are in certain social circles have a very, very rough time at this school but will be too afraid to show/discuss it, and that's coming from someone who did pretty okay socially. They WILL NOT push your child, they only MAY allow them to grow and learn to their potential, but there is NOTHING EXTRA here. Just a little more room to grow than they have at a bad public school. I came to this school from a public school on a scholarship because of my test scores and backslid here, biggest mistake of my life. I have found success after, but I owe it in NO PART to this school, and the thought of sending my child here will NEVER CROSS MY MIND. Even on the topic of it being a Christian school, it is a very select brand claiming to be "non-denominational".

The entire "special needs" or anything touted as that program is just so football players can accomplish their work and have practice. It's a way to pass the players answers on tests and have them sit there for designated time to do their homework, which many still don't do. It's a pathetic attempt to lure people who see this type of program as a positive or need it, and a way to help football players who aren't interested in education pass. (It's not EVERY player that this is true for, and I'm not trying to generalize but it's definitely many of the "stars", and it's a well-known fact by students.) It's also very hit-or-miss on the effectivity of teachers and how much they care, and the ones that do don't have the tools they need to do more.

Also, we still have "T-buildings" and no real campus, follow the money and use your own personal deductive reasoning. It's been like that for almost 2 decades, but we've re-modernized sports facilities how many times?

Overall it is unfortunate that the lack of leadership at this school impacts student's futures. I am not impressed and am actively looking for another place to put my child. The only thing going for them is that they allow prayer in school and have chapel services. They could do so much better its a real shame.

My child has a learning delay and despite multiple attempts to get help they continue to push them through without really learning and overwhelming them with a lot of homework in comparison to their limitation

Their effectiveness is average overall with exceptions on both sides of the spectrum. They are not supported by the administration as they should be.

They constantly fail to enforce uniform and behavior standards in their own handbook! they ignore cheating an fail to address bad behavior in in their students. They claim to partner with parents in all aspects of education but this is not the case.

The leadership at this school is disorganized and unprofessional. They have purposely hidden disciplinary issues with my child from me. Ignored multiple requests to get them additional help for their learning delays and don't follow up on calls or emails. if your child has any type of extra learning need stay away. Their secondary program for those behind is minimal at best though it is touted as more than it is.

Their secondary program is unfortunately a very expensive study hall. They have refused to get my child tested through the public school system, failed to develop an IEP and every time i try to meet with them they make claims that they will do better but it never happens

My child has complained multiple times of how they are treated by their fellow students but the teachers just turn a blind eye or if a student is sent to the principle's office nothing appears to be done

Life changing in every aspect. Our kids love it. Their academics, sports and spiritual aspects are all incredible.

I would rate this school as 1000000 it has helped my kid through a lot. It has gotten him through depression. There’s no other school like this one. This school really has the Holy Spirit in them. Go to a chapel service and you will be immediately overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit

God continues to shine His light on the lives of the students that make up this school. It is a true reflection of what Shreveport-Bossier is comprised of.

I love this school!! It literally saved my son's life after a tragic event occurred which took the life of one of his close friends. This school offered love and support where the current school he was attending failed. Thank you Evangel for giving my son hope and a chance at a bright future. Talisa Housley.

Exceptional teachers. Nobody works there for a paycheck, nor is deadwood protected by tenure. Only the truly motivated need apply. As for the decision to accept scholarship students, it is good to see a so-called "Christian" school actually live up to its name. Christ came for everyone, regardless of background. Evangel deserves kudos for staying true to its mission despite pressure to do otherwise.

Bad decision, Evangel. There are other private schools in Shreveport that will surpass Evangel in no time.

I don't plan to continue to pay tuition at this school with it's decision to accept the Scholarship Bill recently passed. I'm curious to see where Evangel stands in a few years once kids from failing schools start attending.

Wonderful teachers that truly care about their students! It is an extremely religious school, so if that is not your thing, you might feel a bit uncomfortable. However, the academics and sports are top notch. The facilities are not the best, but I feel the wonderful teachers make up for that.
