I have been in Haughton schools for all of my life. I have diagnosed Autism and ADHD and the amount of discrimination i face is wild. I have reported this to the principals multiple times, and it is genuinely insane. How come that I am made fun of for being autistic, and then whenever I go into class, I have had my grades lower because of the effect of bullying on my brain. Thankfully, I found a group of kids that feel the same, but it is not good, that it has taken me nearly 10 YEARS to find a group.

This school feels so segregated when you are actually a student there. To make matters worse, black and Hispanic students have a harder time excelling there. Just look at the test results. Why are black and brown students so far behind their white counterparts when it comes to college readiness and test scores? What is the school doing to close the achievement gap? There was nothing that I could see when I was there. Sending a low income/non-white student there is like a death sentence. What the other reviews are saying is also true. Im saddened though because I was able to make some good memories there but looking back on my experience there now my eyes are opened to the injustices this school perpetuated.

Haughton is your typical small town school while there are favoritism's among student teachers and kid's parents that went to school there it is not what everyone is making it out to be. Haughton has its downsides, one of them being it does not offer a lot of classes for kids to excel in and there are only seldom electives but Haughton has a great atmosphere. The teachers always work the students and Haughton is expanding there choices on electives and more challenging classes to excel. As for the sports comments I do not know what school the kids went to before but nothing is free but coaches do offer fundraiser methods and cheaper options for people who do not make as much money but the school is not sponsored by anyone and is a public school so they can't be held accountable for people having to pay for their own gear. Also Martha Turner was a problem in the school I am not denying that but Gene Couvillion and David Haynie are outstanding administrators and deserve recognition for that. For anyone wondering she is retired now so that is no longer a plague of Haughton High. Have a blessed day everyone

The school is poorly run and shows favoritism to students whose parents attended. If you were a transfer you would feel trapped and like an outsider. I was miserable and most teachers could not be bothered to actually help. They also accept very poor scores, saying a 15 or 16 is good on the act.

There approach to homework was not affective because it wasnt coordinated within the staff and faculty of the school having seven teachers it became a lot for many of the students and is why many of them chose not to do it all together.

Not gonna get into specifics here but there are good and bad teachers here but some of the male teachers are pedofiles who seek out reasons to be around younger females souch as volley ball coaches and have them sit behind there desk in class. On the other hand there were some very good teachers at the school.

My experience at this school was ruined by the administration. The kids were nice honestly overall not bad teachers other than the few pedos but Martha Turner absolutely has ruined my high school experience and the high school experience for many other kids. She wont allow you to go to practice if you cant afford to pay fees for Id tags that the school makes you buy. Which causes you to get kicked off of the team. It ruins scholarship opportunities for underprivileged kids honestly a terrible person.

My school is a business, not a school. Outrageous and expensive... and it is supposed to be public. That means FREE.... but not so much. :(

Small town school, small town mentality. The immense favoritism is ridiculous. Kids aren't held responsible for their actions, my child included! Kids share an entitled and inviscible mentality. We end up holding our child accountable at home for violations that according to the school rules (they make the student and parents sign them when school starts every year) are subject to all types of administrative actions. I feel like the bad cop while the school's playing good cop. Its exhausting, these kids are soon to be adults. They have all these uniform rules but I have come across plenty of pictures of girls in tank tops, in class, and you see the teacher in the background. They are supposed to be in blue, white, or red polos!?! We try to teach our child to do the right thing and to understand consequences. I edit my childs homework and reports and those assignments that get snuck my me are full of gramatical errors but still get As. According to my child, the PE teacher makes them dress out and do whatever they want while she sits and plays on her IPHONE. We are not continuing a 3rd year of this mess.
