They stopped teaching actual lessons about science and started only teaching religion (evolution is fake, you should only believe in one god) and they don't even TRY with the teachers. I am now no longer a part of ANY religion because of these teachings. 90% of the teachers I had when I went there were terrible and would SCREAM. There's black mold everywhere (which they might have fixed, but probably not) and the lights tend to flicker plus a lot of boards in the ceilings are missing. I had know over 80% of the curriculum before it was even taught simply because of YouTube and my PRESCHOOL. My religion teachers would discriminate against any kid who was not Catholic, even my Best Friend who was Lutheran. And I know that kids in Catholic schools are supposed to be nice and pure but the kids were absolute jerks, and they got little to no repercussions, and would speak about inappropriate topics in front of the teachers (certain adult websites, inappropriate votes, ect...) on the topic of family engagement or special ed, the only family actives they would have were rather poorly ran and very expensive (20+ dollars poor entry and 20+ for food and around 40+ for stuff for the child.) For special Ed the teachers would just send the students to a different room for an extra five minutes. And there were only kids with ADHD and autism in the school, and I had only met 2 autistic kids there and probably five children with ADHD. Either the school is denying applications for children with special needs or people are refusing to send their children with accomodations to the school. Sad to see from such a religion based school. The school is relatively safe when it comes to lock down and tornadoes, and the gates are always closed. Except church hours, which makes me concerned after recent events that I don't want to mention here. Also, kids with mental issues (gender dysphoria, depression, ECT...) were treated as outcasts and apparently the councilor didn't help much. But we loved her anyways. I hope she is still there because she was doing everything she could with her limited resources.

In summary, the school is filthy, poorly ran, and not very attentive. I feel like the school could become something amazing if they stop letting the priests control everything (as they had lost over 80% of the teachers since I had gone there) and got a better principal. Someone who could make VOL a good school again. But judging by the management, it doesn't seem likely.

Why did yall put the darker skin kids in the back???? I need to know. You can barely see them. The teachers need to be reprimanded and this school will get exposed on ALL platforms. !!!!

My children attended this school for 5 years. The nepotism, racism and terrible standards for academic achievement are appalling. The parents run the school. Do not waste your money or time. Send your child to a school that does not "nickel and dime" your money. In other words they use social engagement as a motivator for your children to be involved in every fund raising event but, you will not see the fundraised money make any improvements.

I went to the school in the 70s. They would not give me the time of day to help me with my learning. I still resent the school to this day and the kids that went there, still hate them all!!!!!!

Teacher's are not aware of what goes on around the classroom or the playground. Children are hitting, pushing, & bullying. There was an incident last year where a child ended up in the emergency room with a fracture. Child returned to school with cast and teacher was unaware what happened???!!! Yes, a student in their classroom nonetheless!

Character is not build by bullying other children in school. There is suppose be a POLICY in place by the School & Archdiocese but, NOT ENFORCED!
This does not appear to be the place where Integrity, Compassion, and or Respect are developed.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! This school has no assistance or help with children with ADD/ADHD/Slower Learning Abilities. They will however, continue to collect your tuition accordingly each and every year. There is zero additional help for your children. They even have a "Counselor" Whom appears to be detached or oblivious to any of the children's well being. Even after several attempts to make contact with the counselor to no avail. Until a meeting with higher up was obviously necessary.

There is a policy in place by the School & Archdiocese, however it is NOT ENFORCED. Simple brushed under the rug. Unacceptable!

Unacceptable, poor structure inside and out the classroom. Teacher's are not attentive to recognizing a child's weakness, and administration is oblivious to bullying, discipling bad behavior that affects others. This school's concentration is about fundraisers, tuition, and extra circular activities. The Administration needs to change completely, in order for this school to be successful. I would not recommend this school for lower elementary education. And furthermore look at the number of students that stay enrolled after middle school?!

Both of my children enjoyed going to this school. There is great communication with the school to the parents.

My son went here from pre-k 3 through 8th grade and every year it was a new problem. One year he had a teacher who favored the girls, almost every year he would end up in trouble for defending himself against bullies while nothing was done to them despite a "No Bullying" policy. I tried to pull him out in 5th grade, but he begged me to let him stay. When he got into 7th grade, he had an English teacher who pushed him so hard that he now hates to read, which used to be one of jis favorite hobbies. The teachers think nothing of manhandling the older kids to get them to the office without finding out the whole story when there is a disagreement or fight during break or lunch. And when you go to the principal, she gets offended when you are upset over the treatment your child receives at the hands of her teachers. Bottom line, if you don't brown-nose the principal by giving monetary donations or your time, your child will not be treated fairly. My child was an honor student who tried to stay out of fights, but when got pushed around too much, he exploded. Also, if your child has any kind of disability, don't send them here. They don't have to comply with any disability acts. My son was ADD/ADHD/Impulsive and with the exception of a few stellar teachers, they just didn't care.

Visitation is a great school. The teachers are caring and the principal keeps you informed of the upcoming important dates. All the homework is found on the visitation website. I heard some negative comments said about visitation like, Visitation focuses more on religion than any other ciriculum which is so untrue. Religion is a subject just like Math, reading, spelling etc.If you dont wont your child learning about religion then why did you send them to a "Catholic School"? I love the school and so does my daughter.

Some teachers are good and some are not. If your child's safety is important then consider another school. Too many scary things are happeneing in the streets and within the Catholic School System.

I've read the reviews, especially the negative ones. One says the school only focuses on religion. One is VOL lacks in religion. It's quite confusing. My daughter is in 4th grade. She's in the top 99% in reading by Terra Nova tests. All other categories are above average and most in the 90s percentile. She started in K not knowing how to read or write. Most of what she's learned, she learned at VOL. She's never gotten less than an A on a report card & is challenged daily even though classes aren't separated by student's grades until 5th grade. She's been accepted to Duke University's gifted/talented program & has won 1st place for the last 2 years at Acad of Our Lady's academic fair. While it might just sound like bragging, this was all possible because the VOL teachers & staff make education top priority. Not every student is an honor student but no matter what level your child is on, they are definietely pushed to their full potential. We absolutely did not like her 3rd grade teacher. We felt she missed too much school & wasn't focused on the kids at all but it didn't seem to affect my daughter's grades. I went to VOL in the 80's & they've only gotten better with time.

My daughter attended VOL from pre-k3---8th grade. This is an excellent private school. I don't know why parents complain of lack of education in this school because I never encounter that problem. As far as asking for money for this or that, what school doesn't. Public school isn't as cheap as everyone thinks it is. My daughter was well prepared for high school and she graduated this year from a Catholic High School well prepared for college. My husband went to VOL and one day when I have granchildren I know that they will attend VOL. Great principle, staff, and students. I would highly recommend this school to everyone.

My child has been at this school for 4 years and I have always felt that the teachers are truely working in his best interest, even when I am pressuring him to do more. I have come to appreciate the idea of age appropriate learning, pacing, and activities. I am also apart of the staff. An element that keeps me at this school is the "progressive spirit." This is the one school consistently searching for ways to improve our school, our kids, and our community! Everyone is involved! I have always and will continue to supplement my childs' learning experience because I firmly believe that parents are the first teachers. I recognize that quality is worth more to me than quantity. I do believe that my child"s teachers have laid the foundation for him to be a successful person. For parents who are dissatified with the VOL experience it is unfortunate. I have had students rejected from other schools because of their learning styles. We welcome all learners and all levels because that is our mission! As for the teachers we must be certified, many of our teachers have or are currently working toward Master Degrees, and all teachers are responsible for acquiring hours every year!

I sent my child here for 3 semesters and felt like they were missing out on very important things that they should have been taught. I find the school is based a little to much on religion and needs to focus on the education of the children that are going to struggle in the real world when they leave here. My child was never sent home with homework and I would double check the webpage to verify. When she went back to her original school she had been at since she was 2 she has struggled to keep up on the English curriculum and my A-B child is finishing her 4th quarter out with an F because she fell so far behind. I believe in the religion part of education but religion is not going to get you a good foundation when these children leave out of this school and enroll in schools they are not prepared for.

I am very unhappy with this school. My son isn't learning on level. Compared to the public schools in the area his class is Months behind. I can't believe that they are that far behind. I pay so much for my son to go to this school and I DON'T FEEL like I am getting what I am paying for. (Or maybe I am I m paying for his grades. He is learning less and the tests seem pretty dumbed down to me). I found out recently the teachers at this private schools do not have to be certified teachers. I can't believe they actually have lower standards for the teachers then the public schools do. My son will not be returning and my daughter was just registered for Kindergarten at the next school over our local public school. At least the public schools won't rob me blind with fees. This schools fees are absurd.

Last year I was really unhappy with my child's teacher. She was really not warm and caring and I did not feel that she did enough to help my child. This year, however is different. She is in 1st grade and has a wonderful teacher. She struggles in reading and her teacher went out to a local bookstore to help find a book to help her with her reading comprehension. Anytime I have a question regarding a test or assignment, she responds in a helpful way. My daughter is now a good reader and has confidence because of her teacher. Being a teacher myself, I know how difficult it can be to try and help struggling students. This teacher goes above and beyond for her students.
