I found out that one of the counseling staff at this school had his license suspended for EXTREMELY serious misconduct involving a patient. No notice was given to parents and this person was allowed to work at this school despite this information being publicly available to the school.

Great school my son is thriving there and I've seen a boost in his confidence in his 4 years of attendance. The campus is amazing and the community is welcoming and not pretentious as other schools we've experienced.

Belmont Hill is an amazing school with highly qualified, caring teachers, who go the extract distance to support their student body. My son has grown and development academically and as a community member far beyond our expectations. He thoroughly enjoys and looks forward to going to school their everyday.

Fantastic school with an exceptional student body and wonderful staff. Academics are superb and rival those from RL. The athletics are better than any other ISL school. They just do not seem to lose at any sport. There is little emphasis on the arts, but no one really cares about that anyway. Overall, a wonderful school for bright students.

My experience as a student was first rate. Head of School,faculty and curriculum made for an exceptional six years. It seems apparent that the prior poster 's student was asked to leave. Fortunately, bitterness is a burden that most do not have to bear.

Headmaster is effete and insipid. Totally uninspiring. A lot of the good teachers left. So glad to get out.

The Belmont Hill School is a welcoming, constructive, and overall amazing environment for students through the 7th and 12th grade. The teachers are committed to the students and they follow and guide students through passions (school subjects, athletics, camps etc.) Teachers are helpful in every way to ensure a great experience and journey at the school. Also, the school provides good education like any ISL should. BHS is heavily interested into athletics, but the students are not one-dimensional. Through athletics, the school helps students become more well "rounded" for College and for life. It is a good distraction from the intensity of academic work and a light topic for conversation. The student body in general forms a compact and constructive community. Although in previous years there has been some trouble, the school has completely resolved every problem to optimize the school's community.

Belmont Hill School located in Belmont MA. I grew up in Belmont and a friend of mine, son went to this school. I heard that bad things happen at this school and the administration simply ignores it.

This school is living on its reputation. It no longer has the high academic standards, rigor, or qualities of the 70s/80s. It is sitting on its laurels. It cannot compete on a cutting-edge level. It focuses only on its athletes, shows little diversity, not interested in the arts, and virtually has no extracurricular activities - even though the school claims it does. They are open time periods for extracurriculars with nothing going on. BH cannot compare with Middlesex, Nobles, Phillip Andover, St. Paul's, Groton, and those horses with whom BH used to run. And the most glaring part of it is -- BH does not even try anymore. The administration and staff's arrogance blinds them to the fact that they are a has been. And they are indifferent to change. I do hope universities and colleges that are thinking of admitting BH kids take note of this. Although BH may get a good percentage of their students into great colleges, those kids are getting in there by legacy. There have been big scandals at BH lately of bullying and worse whereas a number of kids have departed, on their own or by expulsion. There is a bad, bad culture being bred at BH. Don't be fooled.

A Student. Belmont Hill is great for a very specific type of student. If you don't fit their mold you might be better off somewhere else. The curriculum is very rigid and limited. Every student takes a nearly identical schedule. The only differences being regular vs AP and which language you chose. Make sure you check out the courses offered so you dont miss out on something you really wanted to study. Not many electives, the arts are alright but not great. Sports are a huge focus there. Pretty much everything at the school revolves around athletics, not much value is placed in the arts. That being said the teachers are excellent all round with very few exceptions. They are very motivated and passionate. Students are alright, very intelligent, but very preppy and arrogant. Almost everyone comes from wealthy families. The lack of girls is another annoyance. A good school if you fit their mold, but otherwise unfufilling. Could use some more diversity. The arts are subpar compared to other highschools both private and public.

Not the same school it was years ago. Doesn't hold the same standards of character, honesty and integrity.
