I have two children in the school. It is and has been a wonderful experience. The new principal is amazing. Communication with families has improved and I have no worries about my kids’ safety. Both of my kids have learned so much from the reading and math programs that they use, and I appreciate the importance of electives, like band, in the schedule. It’s middle school, so of course there are occasional interpersonal issues, but this is the time for kids to learn how to navigate such things. Any issues are always handled with support and mistakes are treated as learning opportunities.

Administration does not communicate with parents. They are more worried about the school looking bad and trying to cover up all the bad things that happen rather than informing parents. We anticipated great a great school based off the ratings. All we get is disappointment. They pass kids on to the next grade even if the child is not ready. The school could use more security. Better off homeschooling.

not a good school. Administration rarely makes an effort. They only care about what people think of their school, not about the students. Teachers have a lack of understanding content, and having basic respect. Bad bad bad bad

My children have had a very positive experience at Snow Hill Middle School. It is a community school, where there are no strangers. Students in the middle grades (6th - 8th) are encouraged to be independent learners through their individualized learning program. SHMS offers many opportunities to its students, and its dedication to the arts is impressive. I would recommend SHMS to any parent who wants their child to attend a school that focuses on academic achievement and the whole child while also promoting diversity and the arts.

The HW policy allows time for students to participate in extracurricular activities and to read for pleasure at home.

Multiple venues for communication between staff, parents, students and the community. And all communication is acknowledged and addressed. We are a Maryland Blue Ribbon School and are AFG accredited and have the Worcester County teacher of the year for the second year in a row. Go SHMS!
