My child has been attending North Point since 2021 graduating 2025 and to date, no issues in regard to teacher engagement, or school activities offered. What I liked the most was the teachers/classes he was assigned to were very receptive when we requested a meeting to discuss what they and us can do to ensure our child's success.

North Point was a great school for academics and building skills over all other high schools within Charles County. However, as a student the administration was less than stellar on communication and transparency with students, parents, and, from my knowledge, staff. The counselor department is less than adequate at serving its school with the resources and help requested at all times. This leaves more to be desired from students on a memorable and enjoyable experience to hold for the rest of their lives. If attending North Point, I would ensure you are more than capable of speaking up for yourself and others, as communicating with the school is one of the most aggravating things known to man (comparable to that of customer service.)

My experience at North Point High School is when I first met my new teachers during the first-year of my freshman year. I love going to North Point High because it has so many opportunities for you such as during nest you get your hair done if you want and you get to talk to your teachers during lunchtime as well.

The school seems to run well, which is not just the leadership, but teacher input as well.

The amount of homework is acceptable to reinforce what is learned in class. The note taking in the APUSH is a bit much, but the teacher is exceptional per my son.

In my experiences, teachers want their students to succeed and are always willing to provide additional help at Nest. They always respond to parent emails and provide valuable suggestions. Teacher are exceptional.

Good character should come from home which reflects well in school. There are some students who lack this and it shows in school. Hopefully, those students will focus and learn integrity and respect.

I have always had very good experiences with teachers when I requested information regarding my son's grade. The front office staff is outstanding. The counselor I have communicated with is less than I expect, but luckily I have only had a few experiences in four years. The teachers do very well preparing students for their future/college and I hope they know how much students and parents appreciate them. I am so pleased that my children are in the CTE programs and really enjoy North Point!!

I love this school because they really care about the children and their education to succeed and also their well being. My son got sick and was rush to the hospital and I tell you it seems like the staff beat me and the ambulance at the hospital. I love the football staff and teachers. They respond right away not days right away

So far, no bullying as compared to my son's past school. A friend, who is a teacher told me that they do address bullying right at the get-go in this school.

Col. Brown (AfROTC) is an excellent teacher who encourages and loves his students. He addresses concerns right away. My son has nothing but praises for this teacher.

Principal Simms is a trooper. I emailed him regarding my son's grade and I was thinking that like the teacher, the Principal will not reply especially since it's summer vacation so staff will never access their school emails. I was floored with I got a call from him and that he took care of my concern. He is a true leader and still watching over "his" school even at this time.

Students have behaved badly with my kid at this school. Bullying and the bathrooms are a issue at this school. Inappropriate behaviors. Teachers are good.

I have a student in the Engineering STI and one of the Engineering teachers should not be teaching in high school, if at all. He doesn't have a degree in Engineering and has never been an Engineer. He does not teach them and just screams at them when they ask questions. He is not in the least bit encouraging nor does he make Engineering exciting. Less than half of the freshman students that start in the program will finish, and even some that do finish, don't want to be Engineers, mostly because of their experience with him in this program. The program itself is commendable and would do a great job preparing students for Engineering in college, if only they had an adequate Engineering teacher. Overall, the school has good teachers and school spirit is high. Unless they get a new Engineering teacher, I will not send any more of my kids to North Point for Engineering, I think they will be better off with Project Lead the Way in their zoned school.

North point would have been a great opportunity for me. I just had to have bad teachers compared to my friends. I was very self-tempered and kept to myself and for some odd reason, some of my teachers did not like that. My biology teacher in my 10th grade year caused me to cry and always flirted with another student. He always put me out there and caused me to feel bad about myself. I feel like the outgoing popular students have more opportunities because they get noticed from teachers and others are ignored or just there. I'm also putting this school in my book about my experience. I had a few good teachers but not great. The principal now and before her were okay and my guidance counselor was not very good. I wish I had a better experience.

North Point is a great modernized school. The teachers, staff and administration are very helpful and responds to your concerns. My daughter will now be a junior and and enjoys her classes, teachers, friends and STI program. This will be our third year and have no complaints. Go Eagles!

North Point High School in my opinion is one of the best schools in Charles County if you need help with anything they would take there time with you help you figure out what's wrong and won't stop until you feel right with what's wrong

My son is a freshman at North Point High School in Waldorf, MD and, so far, we are impressed with the school, the administration, and the programs available to students. North Point is aesthetically pleasing and is located far away from retail establishments. This feature dramatically reduces the possibility for anyone not affiliated with the school to be near school grounds, thus reducing the risk of violence and crime. The administration is robust and engaged. When my family attended freshman orientation, it was obvious that the educators and staff liked what they do. This is important because this will enable the teachers and staff to administer lessons and procedures to the students in a positive way, enhancing their educational experience. North Point's STI programs offer something for all students' interests. From the beginning, I was impressed with the interview/selection process for admission into the programs. This is my family's first experience with public school and and this process convinced me that the STI students are held to a higher standard, similar to that of private school students. It is still early in the school year but, so far, so good!

North Point is alright. Of course it has it's ups and downs, but overall the school is a great experience. I am currently a junior at North Point and I am proud to say that North Point is a great school, with its many programs to choose from and the 1 hour lunch to expand our learning experience and to relieve some stress throughout the day. But now with many of the teachers that originally made up North Point gone and with a great principal gone, the school is starting to decline. I am afraid that the new students and teachers will take North Point for granted and will ultimately turn North Point into a bad school. If someone wants to go to a great school in Charles County, North Point is a great pick. Just remember that don't be so ignorant and careless just because North Point is one of the top schools in the county, because North Point's greatness is made up by the students and faculty. Although I'll leave North Point next year, I will always be proud that I was an Eagle.

My son attended North Point in 2009 through 2012. He loved the school and had dozens of friends. The school gave him many opportunities to take AP classes and when he graduated he had completed 10 AP classes. He received 8 fives and 2 fours on his AP tests while at North Point. I my opinion it is the best school in Southern Maryland. He is now attending RPI in New York.

The person who made the report on November 5, 2011 should check their facts. The FACT is that the annual HSA scores of Northpoint is higher than Westlake see http://mdreportcard.org/rschool.aspx?K=08AAAA&WDATA=school- know your facts before printing your opinion. You are correct that Westlake SAT scores were higher but you must also look at by how much and the population that actually took the SAT. Westlake in 2011 had 63 students with the Mean score being 1484 and North Point had 322 students with the Mean being 1445...really 39 points will not make a difference in college acceptance. 63 students vs 322 students taking the test makes a difference and I would rather have more graduating students taking the test than not taking the test for college.

I am a parent and a teacher at North Point. I am new to the area but I am beyond impressed with North Point. I teach an STI program and my child is in the regular high school. I like the fact that there are many electives to choose from as well as a strong curriculum with high standards from the teachers and administration. To top it off the school has school spirit comparable to a college atmosphere. #NPNATION

I personally do not understand what is so great about the school. Everyone wants to go there just because it is new. They do offer a science and tech program which is definitely impressive but if you look at the regular high school program itself, it is by some means subpar. Compare North Point's SAT scores with neighboring Westlake High School, and Westlake's annual scores are significantly higher. By no means am I "knocking" this school, but am just submitting this review to address some of then common misconceptions about this place. New is not always better (especially when half or more of the "regular" courses reside in TRAILERS).

north point is the best! from the hour long lunch, to the awesome teachers, to the athletics. its all around awesome. the classes are hard, but the teachers make it manageable and are understanding. my science teacher understood i had some things going on that were really distracting in my social life, and gave me a small extension for a huge project.

I love this school my daughter takes the Criminal Justice Program there and she loves it especially her insrtuctor. The teachers are wonderful.At North Point it's like being with your family you always feel welcome and the support from the students and the staff during their sports is trmendous the students are very proud of there school.

North Point High School is the best you can get in Charles County. The academic focus is on college and careers, which presents problems with scheduling if a student wishes to take certain electives. Even if the student is working to be a professional musician, counselors will push and push to put your STI classes before your music class. The best thing about NPHS is the supportive environment. As a community, our school is extremely respectful of differences. Bullying is not a huge problem here. In other Charles County high schools, bullying is a major problem. At NPHS, you are not punished by your peers for getting good grades, answering questions in class, etc. If you quickly learn which teachers will screw you over and which teachers will fight for your well being, NPHS will be home to some of the best years of your life.
