We LOVED Neal! My son attended K-5 and every single grade was a delight. The principal, Mrs. Brown is always very hands on with any issues and really cares about the students. The PTO had off the charts involvement, making sure the events and fu drainers were top notch. My son loved all of his teachers and made great friends!

I have had THE BEST experience at Mary B. Neal. The teachers, the front office staff and the principal have all been truly amazing to myself and my daughter. I love the diversity in the school. The communication and overall character of the school as a whole. I recommend to any parent that if you want an overall great learning experience for your child, be sure to communicate well with the teachers.

My daughter has attended this school from K-4 and the homework has always been well balanced. However, when she started 3rd grade, they stopped sending spelling words home for homework, I believe this may have been because of the curriculum, however, this was something that was important to me that I wish would've stayed.

Since my child has started attending this school, I have never had an issue with a teacher. They're always very responsive and pleasant. Overall, Ms. Bowen was an amazing teacher.

The Principal, Ms. Brown is amazing! The fact that she knows her students by name, compliments them on their academics and sends personal notes when they've received their report cards is phenomenal.

My daughter has had a few bullying incidents however, the teacher got on it RIGHT away.

While I wish the teaching staff were more diverse, in 3 years, I have never had a problem communicating with the teachers and office staff to ensure my child was getting all the challenges she needed to thrive.

My daughter is in gifted and talented and the school does everything they can to keep her challenged and tell me how to do so at home as well.

There is a no bullying contract the students and parents are required to sign in the beginning of each year and it is also printed inside all the students agendas and I’ve seen the policy on the school walls as well.

My daughter is required to have a parent sign her agenda everyday to show that I saw and reviewed her homework assignment. Accountability is key for both parents and students to create a good parent-teacher partnership in developing a child’s education.

We are a new family in Waldorf and just moved here from out of state. Our son is about three months at Mary B Neal Elementary School and we love every bit of the school s environment and the academic instructions our son is receiving. The school is based on a strong establishment of educational foundation that can affect performance in core subjects for all children in their academic life. The kids are challenged to their potential. Our son recently participated in his class Spelling Bee competition and he was selected one of the top five students in the competition. Ms. Ross is a young, energetic, and brilliant teacher with lots of creativity that motivates her students to work towards their potential. She is a great communicator we have not come across in years. This has been a tremendous gift as we love to be involved in our son s education. The principal s warmth, enthusiasm, and love for excellence of all children makes it easy for all teachers to put their full efforts in making Mary B. Neal is such an amazing school! It's always a positive envierment! The kids are great when it comes to learning! The teachers and staff are so nice to! Ms.Leveillee is a great principal and knows what she is doing! Ms.Kirk is the best kindergarten teacher i know at Neal. She had her kids on there A game and she knows what she is doing.

Neal is a great school, the staff is very invovled and there is great communication. I had a rough experience last year, but I had hope that things would change and get better because Neal is a GREAT school and I am very much glad to say that my son is attending one the best Elementary public schools in Charles County. What I love the most is when my son comes home and always tells me how good of a day he had and what he learned, my son teacher is AWESOME! Ms.Kirk, I love that she take pride in what she does, she is very compassionate. I would really love it if Mary B Neal made UNIFORM manditory, but it isn't , so I'm just hoping that it will in the near future.

The faculty at this school is outstanding. They are very attentive to the students needs without compromising educational integrity. The principal knows every child's name and encourages character traits. This school was just named The National School of Character for 2013.

Mary B Neal is an awesome school! I agree it starts at the top! My daughter was in third grade and came new to the school with a 2.5 reading grade level and when completing third she had a 4.0 reading grade level! She excelled overall because of the rewards and positive reinforcements! As a Mom and Substitute Teacher I found the school equalling in incentives for the teachers to strive their best. I think it is just a matter of time for Mrs Levillee to help guide the school to higher test scores!

We are a military family that moved to MD in 2011 in the middle of the school year. My daughter completed 1 and half years (4-5th grades) at Neal before moving on to middle school and my son has completed 2 years (K-1st grade) at Neal. I thought our school in Germany was great, but Neal has far exceeded my expectations! I read some of the reviews and the ones who have posted negative reviews have clearly not spoken with the principal at Neal. Mrs. Leveillee (and VP Burns) is always asking for feedback from parents and is always willing to sit with them and address thier concerns. The staff there is equally great and more than helpful. As for the children being disrespectful, I've seen it myself, but that is a parenting problem, NOT a teaching/school problem. I assure you that the staff at Neal does not put up with disrespect, but where as when I was growing up, teachers could spank students, that is no longer allowed. Mrs. Leveilee has won national recognition for her leadership as a principal and the school recently received 1 of 29 national awards for thier character in education program. I invite parents to get involved and see what makes Mary B. Neal such a great place to be!

Fantastic! My daughter is finishing her 3rd year at Neal & I have been nothing but impressed. The principal is hands-on & runs a "tight ship." She encourages parental involvement & knows what is going on in her school! All of the teachers seen enthusiastic & excited to be there. Communication between parents & educators is emphasized. There are notes sent home often asking for suggestions or recommendations on improvements to the school & there is a separate "parental group" specifically for this. At this point I could not be happier with Neal.

This is an excellent school. The principal is wonderful. She sets high standards and challenges the teachers and the students to meet them. I am amazed at my sons' reading ability and math proficiency. They are far more advanced for their ages (5&6). I love this school!

Mary B. Neal is a great school, my son is in Pre-K and although it may be a half day schedule I must say from the moment they step into the school they are learning til the time they depart. I love his teachers and appreciate the fact the staff puts children's needs first. They have a lot of parent/teacher involvement activities and I love the optional uniform. This school is well sought after and I highly recommend Neal to any parent thinking of moving to Charles County and trying to decide where they want to live.

Mary B. Neal is a great place to be! We are getting ready to start our fifth year since the building opened. As the principal, I make students my number one priority. Any parent, student or staff concern is always heard and addressed. Bullying happens everywhere to adults and students. The great thing about Neal is we focus on the 3R's: Respect, Responsibility and the Right to Learn. In the 4 years we have been open our character education program has grown and become ingrained in the fabric of our school. Any parent, student or staff member that ever has a concern is always welcome to bring it to my attention. I'm here for the students! I do what I do each day because of the children.

This school has some great teachers but the administration has some problems. Some students are bullied and it seems that it is not a concern of administration. Behavior at the school is less than par. According to my child, students are disruptive and disrespectful and it seems that nothing is done. Glad my child will not be there this year.

We moved to Maryland in the summer and had no time to check out schools, but was glad to see that Neal had great comments! My son is in the fifth grade and loves Neal.His teacher Mrs. Lilly has been an awesome teacher. She really cares about her students and welcomes parent involvement. My son has excelled since being at Neal, he has gotten student of the quarter! Great job, Neal, and keep up the good work!

Wow! It is so great to see so many wonderful comments. We do have an amazing school! Unfortunately the grade scale in Great Schools is based completely upon test scores for grades 3-5 (MSA data). We are working each day to have our "test scores" match the true ability level of our students. The love and dedication of the staff and adminstration is evident each day. Neal is a place where children ALWAYS come first!

I'm glad to see Mary B. Neal has been added to the Great Schools website. It was not listed the two years following it's opening. My children attended Mary B. Neal during it's first two years of existence. I was a regular parent volunteer and spent many hours in the copy room, on field trips, at classroom activities, etc. I must admit in the beginning it didn't feel very parent friendly. With the whole drop your kids off at the front door and keep going attitude. You really have to get inside and make alliances with the faculty to feel welcome within the school. However, once you are in, you and your family will truely enjoy the experience. My children loved attending Mary B. Neal. The school was filled with new technology. The principle (Mrs. Leveille) is very efficient at her job. A little anti-social with the parents though. Great School to send you child to. Mrs. Rision is one of the most caring and qualified teachers you can hope for your child to get.

I am a new mom at Mary B. Neal. My daughter started Kindergarten just this week. I'm reading the reviews and the comments look great, but it's so hard to overlook that Grade 3 rating. If the school, teachers and principals are so good, why such a low rating??
