Horrible school, do not recommend. People will bully you over the most stupid reasons, teachers are disrespectful, and the school food has mold. Very dirty school as well.

I would recommend home schooling before I would let my child attend lockerman middle school. My child came home and said that kid stuck a sticky note on her back saying kick me and I'm gay. The teacher was notified. My daughter explained to the teacher, that she can't deal with these kids. My daughter was told to go to the bathroom and cool down. Nothing was done to the bully. So I get wind that they're bullying her again. I go to the school and address the situation. So now, I'm the bad guy. The teacher should've said something about the notes being stuck to my daughter's back that day. There's a lack of control in this school. Let's make a child's day hard while they learn. School has to many distractions for kids to learn these day. Too much drama. Just home school your kids so they can focus on school and not be harrased. Let's hope this gets resolved in the investigation. Or I'll be forced to withdraw my child and go to court and explain how I'm not going to send my kid to a place to get harassed. Probably still be the bad guy. But what's a dad supposed to do?

Lockerman Middle was a great school for meeting new people and growing social bubbles. Lockerman and Caroline County Schools in general lack many things, I won't disagree with that. The thing you will not regret about going to this school are the relationships that you build. Not only will you build them with other students, you will build relationships with your teachers. The school is well beyond it's service and capacity requirements. Custodial staff does a lot for the school, the students treat the work they do like trash. Overall, the school needs to be rebuilt or remodeled. It is falling apart, breaking in places that are important, and seemed to be unhealthy to be in. Moving past structural, extracurriculars are barely offered. There are a couple clubs and one "advanced" course. The advanced corse is called HAP, Highly Able Program. Clubs are provided more as you move up in grade level. The teachers do their best with what they have. From my experience, the teachers were great, same with the guidance department. Administration needs some growth, but it's ok. Bullying is a larger issue, but unfortunately it's common in Middle and High school. The curriculum needs work, the teachers usually make their own lessons. The lessons helped, the teachers fitted the lessons to the needs of the class. With the teachers I had, it felt as if I was challenged. I have not heard the same from some other students. This school was good, the county and school need to strive to make it great.

This school DOES NOT assign homework. They use the excuse that every student does not have access to the internet as the reason homework is not assigned. Where they do that at? Denton! Homework not only reinforces what is learned in class but also give parents insight on what their child is learning.

I don't think you can be an effective teacher if the students aren't challenged academically. My child is definitely not challenged. I'm not a believer that you can deliver great education during a 1 hour class period. Need homework.

Kids fight on the bus with no repercussions. My daughter tell me that Kids walk around with confederate paraphernalia such as headbands, talking about stuff they know nothing about. But there is a no hat/headband policy supposedly.

We are imports from another county in MD. If the only requirement you are concerned with is having you child in school, any school, then Lockerman will meet that requirement. Anything extra is on the parent. There is no homework or extra curricular activities. I don't feel that my child is challenged academically at all. Will be looking for alternate education.

This school focuses more on enforcing the ridiculous dress code than it does teaching. Science and Social Studies are treated as unimportant, and the entire class system was confusing. Students never knew what day it was, and what materials they would need. When I attended, there was only one extracurricular, and it was laughable.

Several of the teachers taught with packets. They didn't actually explain the source material, but expected students to be able to get things on their own.
