This school has been the scene of many violent altercations on school property-bathrooms, classrooms, hallways, bus stop and more- that require security to intervene. Classrooms built for teaching are disrupted due to violence that requires teachers to act like bouncers instead of educators. The administration at all levels is aware of the level of violence but will not acknowledge it with formal reports to MCPS. Multiple videos are readily available for review that document the violence that endangers students.

PBHS has great potential with its relatively new facilities ,however ,the special education services do not meet the needs of the students and the iEP meetings fail to offer action plans that result in increased academic performance, graduation rates or college readiness.

Before sending your child to this school, ask to see the security logs regarding violent incidents on school property and compare them to other schools. These should be available from MCPS ,however ,this is not likely. . The safety and education of your child is at stake. Bullying is not taken seriously a when brought to the attention of the administration.

Some students are targeted repeatedly with violent confrontations which makes learning an unrealistic option.

There are many support programs like transitions and AVID but while students are encouraged to take higher levels, they are not required to take the tests that go along with them. Thus, they often put minimum effort into the classes or drop the class when it requires them to work. This makes them less ready for college.

This school continues to make national news headlines due to the increasingly violent environment.

Posted: August 2, 2018

Ongoing safety concerns without a safety plant to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.

Posted: August 2, 2018

The school remains understaffed to address bullying and prevent escalating levels of violent behavior. Leadership at the high school needs ongoing assistance to dramatically improve test scores for all students

Posted: August 2, 2018

Teachers are great and the staff is supportive. Leadership should develop a safety plan focused on preventing increasing episodes of violent behaviour.

Teachers very supportive and concerned about test scores that continue to fall below state averages.

My daughter went to this school and she is very happy with the inclusive atmosphere and the diversity. She is very thankful that she went to Paint Branch. Paint Branch is an amazing school with great faculty. She was admitted to top schools but her preference was complete BS without debt. She was accepted to UMDCP Honors college and is currently pursuing Engineering.

One thing I really love about this school is the staff and their commitment to making sure every single student achieve. They are very caring and supportive towards everybody regardless of your background, they don't like to watch you fail. There's many great programs and the sport program is strong and highly committed. What you see in PB is what you'll see in the real world. You'll learn a lot of great lessons from here and it'll prepare you.

Paint Branch HS is a great school that had (and still has) amazing faculty. My husband and I, siblings, and friends graduated from PBHS, and are professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. This schools represents a diverse neighborhood school that teaches rigorous academics, cultural awareness, and hometown pride. For the sadly misinformed posters, here are some facts about a few students from this "underachieving" school: My family- we have a dentist, engineer, and a public health specialist. Our friends- several are engineers, nurses, doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, and educators. ALL from PBHS over the last 20 years. The Northeast Consortium was negatively impacted by the economic collapse, and that shift became apparent in the school. The interest from the community and parents declined. However, Paint Branch engaged families and has revitalized many of it programs and sports teams. More funds are needed for the music and arts programs, but every school has up and downs. My experience at PB taught me to chase knowledge, be proud of who you are, and where you come from. That is why our child(ren) will attend PB too.

I honestly love this high school. What you see in PBHS is what you will see in the real world. The teachers are more than willing to help us. Also there is a new building so there will be a lot of room for everyone. I really love the signature program because it is highly useful. I am in Medical & Health Sciences and I love it. The principal is sooooooo sweet also. You can comfortably talk to her. Also if you dont think its safe, there are more than 118 cameras with ID so you dont need to worry about your child. I really recommend this school for anyone who is interested in medicine!

These reviews are bogus. Paint Branch is a substandard school with substandard staff and substandard administration. It is a cestpool. Do your research; read the performance measures for the county and see where Paint Branch falls in the ratings. You don't have to listen to me; read for yourself.

Paint Branch High School has got to be one of THE BEST if not THE BEST high schools in the Montgomery county area. The staff there, and the environment there is such a loving, warm, and challenging environment; the teachers and staff care very deeply about their students, almost like their own kids. There are also several programs in place in Paint Branch such as; The Medical Careers Program, where students get real life experience and gain knowledge about the hospital, and medical careers, there's TV production/media, there's Academy of Finance where kids learn about money management and more, and the list goes on. It's also highly diverse, and offers numerous extracurricular activities. Although it's great (almost a 5), I think some improvements can still be made, but having graduated there, I only see greatness and potential in this warm, nurturing environment.
