Seneca Valley's academic and career choices were motivation for my middle school children. The support we received from their teachers, administrators and counselors was helpful! Their professionalism was always appreciated!

The schools IB program goes well beyond the curriculum. The teachers take the effort to coach the kids and have a vested interest in them succeeding. The after school programs are fantastic.

Expectations are clearly laid out. SV treats our young adults with respect and expects it in return. Students are encouraged to behave well and when they make a mistake, consequences are fair and not of a one-size-fits-all mentality. Students generally respond well to this tactic.

The teachers and staff at SVHS are phenomenal. They teach in a way that children want to learn. Teachers and staff make themselves available for extra help before school, during school, after school, and often answer student emails in the evening. If a student wants to learn, SV teachers will ensure they have the support they need to succeed.
SVHS is an International Baccalaureate school, offering some of the most challenging classes available. SV also offer AP classes, so students have many options and can choose the program that works best for them.
Most importantly, SV embraces school spirit and fosters a sense of community. My daughter has thrived at SV, as have all the children I know that have attended SV.

The teachers, coaches and character coaches have been so great. The school counselors were really helpful too.

My daughter has had a blast with her friends on the field hockey team and lacrosse team. And Seneca Valley's football team and basketball team did great.
I also love that Seneca Valley offers the full IB program and has THE BEST chorus program around.

My son is a new student to the Montgomery County Public school system. Overall, I have to say Seneca Valley has several teachers who take pride in what they do. Educating the students appears to be a high priority to them as well. My son is taking Physics this year and he has thoroughly enjoyed what hes been taught. He says that his teacher makes learning fun! Kudos to his Physics teacher!!! His counselor, who is new to the school but has worked in the MCPS system for 19 years, was a huge disappointment. The other issue is the daily STEALING. Although the ultimate responsiblity is the students to protect their personal items, the school administration does nothing to inform the parents of what is going on. Mr. Cohen the Principal needs to get the parents involved. Mr. Cohen was emailed addressing my concerns and thus far, no response yet about informing the parents. I believe if parents were notified of the STEALING situation and noticed their child bringing home things that didn't belong to them, maybe the parents would turn the item(s) in. A strong school principal dictates positive leadership.

I love this school! I have 2 students currently at Seneca Valley HS, (my daughter is a Senior & my son is a Sophomore), & another daughter who graduated in 2009, & our family is very involved at the school. All 3 of our children are/were in the Marching Band, & my husband & I have served as volunteers with the Marching Band since our oldest daughter joined back in 2006. The teachers are amazing, & Mr. Cohen is a great principal. My daughter, who is now a Senior, will be graduating with an IB diploma this Spring. Our son joined the Varsity Tennis team last Spring, & my husband & I volunteered to help with transportation to Away matches. We have had nothing but great experiences with all of our children's teachers & coaches. Mr. Singleton, the Marching Band Director, is amazing with the students, & they all love him. If my children have ever needed extra help or extra time to complete an assignment, whenever I have contacted a teacher about the situation they have always bent over backwards to help my child. SVHS is a great school!

I am disappointed that this school does not offer the level of advanced courses that other schools in the more affluent parts of the county do but the teachers here are great and the administration really seems to care about the kids.

My daughter is now a freshman at Seneca and I think the school is ok so far. I agree with the other postings that Seneca being such a diverse school it serves a excellent staff. Now if I can only get the school to give students textbooks.
