EES is the elementary school for the Marshwood school district (MSAD #35) It is a public elementary school for Pre-K through 3rd grade students living in Eliot, ME & South Berwick, ME
The pre-K program is FREE for children who are 4 by October 1st. Both pre-K and kindergarden are half day & 5 days a week.
The district has a strict peanut allergy policy. For rooms with students that have peanut allergies. All the lunches are put into a bin outside of the classroom & examined by the teacher or the school nurse to make sure they not only don't contain peanuts, but are not processed in a peanut facility.
When school gets out all kids go into the gym & are either put on a bus or they are signed out by the person picking them up. No child is allowed to walk home on their own.
Last year they were a national blue ribbon school award winner.
My kids & I have both loved the teachers and staff.
There is a before and after school care program at the school that is called Kids play.

- What did you like? The pre-k program The fact that the school has only students 3rd grade and younger the staff and teachers are great and many of them have been there for a long time. The school has some GREAT events. The winter holiday party was wonderful. Each kid was asked to donate items for a Christmas store and books for a book swap a few weeks before the party. Then at the party they can bring in their coins and buy gifts for their friends and family. At the book swap there was a list of the # of books each kid donated and they can choose that same # of books from what is there. Not to mention there was yummy food, santa, Mrs. Clause and a letters to santa station. the next week we got letters back from santa in the mail. It was amazing.
- What did you dislike? the peanut policy.-I understand that it is important because people who are allergic can die so quickly if they are exposed to peanuts/peanut oil. I just miss being able to send in homemade/unpackaged food for my kids lunch/snack. But I'm sure every parent of a child with an allergy really appreciates the precaution. Also the PTA.-Last year I went to the first meeting they had. I was excited to put my Recreation Management & Youth Leadership BA degree to good use with helping to plan the school years events. The women found my ideas laughable and did not want to give me the responsibility of planning any of the big events even though no one else was willing to take on the responsibility. I think they were just unsure of me because I was new and they didn't know me yet. I made baked goods when they asked me too. But I kept my voluteer hours to my kids classrooms. The events that were put on were great, I would have loved to help, we could have learned a lot from eachother.
