The bullying is out of control in this building. The principal is awful to her staff and doesn't seem to even care about her students. She's very rude to people if they aren't from rich families, as I've seen both sides of her to different people of different backgrounds. The assistant principal isn't the greatest either and acts like her little minion, but at least he pretends to care about the students. The actions they take towards bullying is so bad and faulty, that no wonder bullying seems to run the school there. It's horrible. There are really great teachers there, but there are some that are just terrible. I could name a few, including the girls coach. Those certain teachers have favorite students, the others get treated like they are a waste of time. I've even had my kid treated like crap from some of them (teachers), and when it is brought to the principals attentions, they don't do anything. When bullying happens from one kid to the other, they just get a talking to, apologies are made and maybe ISS for the next step, but it never corrects the actual problem. My biggest issue really is the lack of love and care in this school. You got a dictator for a principal who's only in it for the money (clearly!) and a few pretty bad teachers. I feel bad for the many good teachers that work there. They have to pick up the slack caused by the handful of bad eggs in that place. There have been many parents that have pulled their kids to homeschool them until they get to high school because it really is that bad.
The other school principals and staff are amazing and show great care to their students.

Since c19 the school stopped allowing volunteers, and does a great job at keeping parents out of the school. I believe we need more family/parent involvement in r7 schools. There is not much done about bullying, but its also not as big of an issue as other schools so I wouldnt say theres a bully problem here. There are not many extracurriculars, but there are sports and the coaches really care about our kids. The teachers really try to be in touch about our kids and keep them on track. Overall it is a good school and my kids enjoy it. They also have a rule where phones need to be in lockers during school, and the 6th graders arent mixing with the older grades because they have their own hallway. This is a small town so the students arent welcoming of outsiders, but the transplants have been extremely welcoming. I wish the school would allow more community involvement, and push our kids more but theres not much else Id change.

I grew up near Odessa, Missouri. And I went to Odessa R-VII School District. I trust the school district, teachers, and the students. My son is going to Kendergate and he learned a lot about school in Sumer school. My daughter is going to 6th grade and she knows Middle School like crazy, because they have a fun event called move - up- day. Odessa RVII is a great school district.

I had to take my children out of this school. The administration will not stop any bad behavior dealing with well known bullying problem. After seeing the non-action of the school districts administration also, I felt it was in the best interest of my children's safety to take them out of the school district.

We moved here at the beginning of the year and have 7 kids throughout the Odessa School System. All of them have done wonderful, especially our son who goes to the Middle school and is in the Special Ed program. The teachers there are great and keep in close contact with the parents. Across the board in every school the teachers are outstanding. We are happy that we moved to such a supportive community.
