Excellent school focused on providing an authentic Catholic education. Our children have learned a lot about their faith and have had excellent teachers who genuinely care for the kids. Weve been parishioners here for 12 years and continue to appreciate how faithful the school is and how much our kids learn each year.

I love the level of communication we get from the principal. She is clear, honest, and cares a lot about these students. And as another review mentioned, on top of being so hardworking, she has FUN with the kids! We stopped homeschooling a couple of years ago and sent two of our children hereone was in 1st grade, and while most of the kids had known each other a year or two already, he quickly found friends. I was also amazed at how quickly the faculty got to know who our family was! The teachers have been competent and kind. I love that the school is openly embracing its Catholic identity and is centered on the Faith.

I have had my boys in this school since my eldest was in 2nd grade. He is now a freshman in high school and the two of my 3 boys have been going to St. Andrews since pre-school. They worked closely with me and my oldest when it came to his IEP/504 plan and would make any changes we needed too. All of the teachers I have interacted with have been the most loving and caring teachers I think I have ever dealt with. The care that the staff puts into the well being of the kids is truly remarkable. My kids have made life long friends here and I do not see myself taking them anywhere. I just don't know if I would trust anyone else with teaching my boys like they do here at St. Andrews. I honestly feel like St. Andrews prepared my oldest son for how high school was going to be back when he started 6th grade. To me that is what your school is suppose to do.

St. Andrew is as much our home as our actual house. I think any great experience starts with investment. I have seen a few negative reviews on here and I feel very strongly that you get back what you put in. St. Andrew's is not the school we started in 6 years ago for all the right reasons. The school still has its foundation, which is it's prominent teachers who not only love our kids but invest in them and who they are. The school is now focusing more on faith formation, stronger education, stronger teacher support and accountability for all students and their families. Both Father and our new principle are setting firm guidelines as to what St. Andrew is, a Catholic School and what it means to be a parishioner and school family. I personally think if you don't respect the Catholic Teachings this is not the place for you. We wanted an environment that not only loves our children but challenges them to be better people. It holds them accountable for themselves and encourages them to solve their own problems. We want a school that follows the true teachings of the Church and instills that in our children. Our school and parish have had many challenges over the past 4 years, but Father and Mrs. Draper have faced those head on, they have not avoided the hard conversations and been very transparent. Directness and honesty are considered mean or too harsh in todays world by many but as a parent who wants to know what is going on I cant say good enough things about the direct way Father and Mrs. Draper communicate. My children love Father; he has the right amount of seriousness and joking to be respected but approachable. Mrs. Draper is professional and serious but also so FUN. She has played football at recess, slide into boxed foods at school celebration, gone sledding with students after school. I have seen her shovel the walkway, help students out of the car and load trash in the dumpster. When your school leader is willing to do not only big important jobs but also small not fun jobs you know you have someone who just LOVES their job and is a great leader. Thank You St. Andrew for being a place we can call home.

To our family, St Andrews school and parish feels like home. It is a good practice to reflect on the positive impacts a place has had on your life, and share that with those who might be interested. Unfortunately life gets busy and leaving 5 star reviews does not make the top of our to do lists, so what does get shared then is an isolated unfavorable experience. Meanwhile there are a growing number of families wishing to be a part of what St. Andrews has to offer. So what does St. Andrews have to offer?

St. Andrews prioritizes building the faith life of the students while holding them to a high standard both academically and behaviorally. We currently have two students in the school who walk happily into the building with their friends where they fist bump the principal as they enter. We are not native to the KC area but have enjoyed becoming involved in the school and parish, which has allowed us to build a community of friendships for ourselves and our children. We have been at the school for 6 years and foresee being there many years to come.

We love that they are writing on paper and not staring into screens, pouring through books from the library for their book reports, and that prayer is woven throughout their day.

Our children have received fair disciplinary actions at different times throughout their years that were consistent with the behaviors they chose. Our pastor and new principal are making changes that make sense and are necessary, but change can be upsetting to people sometimes. Is St. Andrews a perfect school? No, and no place is. But it is a great fit for us and the many people we have come to know there.

We have children of various ages and abilities, both excelling and needing extra help, and have found the school to be of excellent support all around. We love the teachers! The new principal has been so dedicated to our kids and truly walks the walk. Her academic goals for the school make me very excited for her continued leadership. Our Catholic faith is strong and led very well by Fr. Schneider. We are so blessed to call this school home and we love our community here.

We had a very disappointing experience with this Catholic school. While a few teachers were genuinely kind and helpful, others seemed overly focused on nitpicky issues instead of supporting students in a meaningful way. Unfortunately, the principal was extremely difficult to work with and often escalated problems rather than helping to resolve them, which did not feel very Christian in approach or values.The social environment was especially concerning. The students tend to be very cliquey, and new kids are not welcomed easily. Our child was repeatedly told by peers that he wasnt wanted there, which led to him coming home upset and in tears, just wanting to leave the school. No child should feel that way in whats supposed to be a safe, supportive and Christ-centered environment.Another deeply troubling aspect was our interaction with the head priest. When we had a meeting with the priest and the principal. Instead of showing compassion and understanding, he made inappropriate and hurtful remarks, including suggesting that we are the ones not taking responsibility for our child's actions, rather than focus on his academic needs that were not being me, and that we were raising a sociopath, instead of addressing the need for help in one class. This felt neither kind nor reflective of the values the school claims to uphold. Additionally, I felt attacked as a parent who has been advocating for my child as he is a kind, loving, funny and caring child as well as a wonderful athlete. This school was bringing down his confidence and leading him to believe that he was not good enough. Academically, our child did wonderful in his other classrooms, making good grades, being kind and showing an interest in learning, and was well liked by most of his teachers. We struggled to get the support our child needed in only one class. For the entire year, we consistently advocated for our child. Despite frequent communicationsometimes dailyour concerns were often dismissed or met with pushback rather than support. Rather than taking responsibility and initiative in trying to help him, they blamed him with bad behavior and nit picked every little mistake he made. We felt pushed and bullied out of that school. Since transferring to public school, our child is now thrivingdoing well academically and building healthy friendships. He looks forward to going to school every morning. He is happy with the decision we made for him.

We had a horrible experience at this school. The kids are the meanest Ive ever seen. Couldnt stand the new principal, and the Father appears not to like children very much.
I would not recommend the school if you care about your childs well-being.

We have been so happy with our decision to have our children attend St. Andrew. The teachers are nurturing, encouraging, and create a wonderful environment for learning. The principal has been helpful and attentive to our family. Our children are thriving and happy, which is all we want as parents!

There were some bumps that the school felt as the result of the sudden departure of a very popular principal (due to health). However they have filled the position with someone who has fantastic communication and interest in the school as his own children are enrolled.

I have two daughters in the school, I feel they have an appropriate amount of homework that reviews and reinforces lessons they've learned.

I'm baffled by the representation of the parent who gave one star. Her experience was clearly very different than ours. We drive past two other Catholic schools for our kids to attend St. Andrew. I have witnessed a growth in knowledge and faith in both of my daughters and growth as human beings.

I am a parent and teacher of Catholic education, and am blessed to be a part of St. Andrew the Apostle School. The dedication of the pastor, parishioners, parents and staff members working together is what makes it a positive environment in which children learn, thrive, and grow in their faith. Every student is gifted by God in some way, and the teachers tap into each child s uniqueness to encourage excellence and a love for learning. Parents are strongly involved in St. Andrew s school, and everyone benefits from positive support, as together we work for the spiritual, academic, physical, and emotional growth of each student. St. Andrew s is the first school in the Northland I would recommend for anyone who is looking to raise their child in a Catholic, Christian learning environment.
