Fortunately I was able to experience WA with Farrell Rigby as the Headmaster. Now that Mr. Mike Reans is in this role, there is a distinct and measurable decrease in morale as well as educational opportunities for students. Staff complaints are well known but kept quiet due to fear of reprisal. The management style is fear-based with both staff and students. Reans has board approval, and Louisville is a small town where it is difficult to recruit for the headmaster position I'm sure. Unfortunately, it looks as if Winston had to settle for a candidate that can do the functions, fill the position, but not necessarily build and improve a school. I'm concerned moving forward, and I'm not sure I can remain here. The good teachers that are here are why I'm staying. I like the small school and the possibility for a better educational experience. Unfortunately, it's not happening anymore.

There is no consistency and the volume at times can be so consuming as to make you wonder what they are actually doing in class. Kids having to do homework for 3-4 hours after school is a little excessive. It depends on the teacher, and there are some excellent teachers here. As a parent, I can only hope it gets better in the later grades.

The majority of teachers at Winston are there for the right reasons. Yes, you do have those who are riding out their retirement and doing the minimum required activity.

It is stated regularly that if you can afford to come here then you are welcome. There is no regular Christian-based education, although it is a Christian-based school. Working to better the children is hit and miss and is really up to individual teachers that can readily be identified. Because of poor leadership, there is no institutional vision with a purpose and objective to develop character that I've seen or my child has experienced.

Under Farrell Rigby, I would rate the leadership of this school as Strongly Agree! That is no longer the case. Since his retirement, current leadership has been a disaster with staff and students alike. If this were a prison, I would also rate as "strongly agree," but it's not. When staff and teachers are managed based on avoidance of penalties, there is a problem.

They just don't do it and will tell you that Winston is not the place for you if you have a learning disability of any sort. You will need to seek outside help should you choose to go there.

There is a speech done annually but no actual policy that works based on the kids that continue to be bullied
