My daughter has severe learning disabilities with multiple diagnosis. She will never match her peers and thats ok. I have been very happy with the special Ed department and the entire team. They work together and she has made great strides that seemed impossible previously. In her previous school, she hated going and literally lost ground in the time she was there. Here, she looks forward to every school day and comes home with a smile on her face.

Im trying to like this school, but the office staff are horrible. I feel the attitude of one individual influences and has infected the rest of the staff and I feel like they try to make problems for certain students and parents they have labeled and I even fear administrative retaliation for my comment. Im
Posting in case this has happened to other people like me. Maybe they will be brave enough to come forward.

The school is great. The teachers are effective and caring. Positive environment.
Posted: January 12, 2019
It is great that they give little homework but it doesn't seem effective. They mostly harp on having time with i-Ready and ST Math.
Posted: January 12, 2019
Some teachers are more effective then others. Some teachers continuously give answers to questions as "its policy" then break the policy everyday in class. One issue is how much sugar my children get at this "sugar free"school.

The administration at this school doesn't care of the individual student they just care about the attendance numbers. When a student excels they will hold them back. They are not pushed to there potential.

This school supports the mediocre student. There are several students in need of additional help to succeed and fall behind. There are also students ahead of the game but get held back, which causes disruptions in class due to boredom.

This school is more hype then anything. They don't focus on what matters, the students. I had high hopes and was very disappointed. This is a factory school pumping out employees not CEOs.

I fell like they should try to help and push students who fall behind, and figure out a way with the parents help to help the child over come there weak spots.

Overall it was an okay school but I expected and had higher hopes for my kids that I didn't see with all the teachers but some I did.

They are just not what they use to be. The teachers are learning as they go with the students. My daughter special education teacher didn't even know what she was doing and couldn't help my child in her weak spots. Nor did her reading teacher seem to care. All I got from her was eye rolls and your child should know these things in the third grade. I want make it easy for her. I didn't want her to make it easy only make sure if she is studying for one thing don't hit her with the opposite. For instance they have vocab where they needed to learn the definition, why wasnt the test on definitions but on opposites of what the definition stood for. My daughter tried her hardest to study do hard but it seemed like her teacher just wasn't will to help. Her Math & Science teacher was a great help. She sent home practices, gave games and different study techniques for the kids to use to help them learn. She made it more interesting and she was vary hands on. She listened and made sure no child was left behind and that every child understood her lessons. I wish the reading teacher took as much time and pride in her students progress.

Some teachers were more hands on than others. And you could tell which teachers didn't mind going out there way to see students excel, where others just overlooked the kids that were struggling

While the curriculum of past and present standards have lacked in areas for children with special needs (gifted or challenged), the teachers at BVE have been wonderful. They do all they can to meet the child's needs for learning. It has always been essential in our home to nurture our child's zest and excitement for learning. The teachers at BVE do a great job of continuing to cultivate that desire while at school.

The staff at Bayou View Elementary is extremely caring and supportive of families of special needs students transitioning from pre-k to kindergarten. The teachers and administrators at this school are first rate all the way! They always put forth their best effort and the end result is phenomenal! The school itself is amazing inside, and it is something that must be seen to be believed - you just need to go there and you will know what I mean. It is amazing! It is not a wasted trip, trust me.

If you want your child to have a rigorous curriculum that can compete with any other state, then Bayou View Elementary is the school for you. The entire faculty and staff care about their students. They build relationships with the children so that the students want to come to school each day and learn. The administration is very approachable and has an open door policy. They encourage parents to visit frequently. The parental support is fantastic. I have been in several states, and this school is the very best. If you want a top-notch education for your child--with people who care, then BVE is for you. Contrary to an earlier post, we feel a part of the BVE family even though we are not wealthy. The administrators and teachers care for the students no matter what income bracket or race.
