My kids love the school! My son is in pre k and daughter is in 5th. They are very happy here.

My son loves the school, it's small and the teachers know each student. My recommendations are 100%.

One administrative staff member I will not name....is very bad at addressing bullying issues. He would force a child to get along with a bully then to get the parents involved and then lie about opening lines of communication from that parent to ours to never hear about it again. An issue arose this year of an older student bullying our child from the beginning of the year till about a couple of months ago. Finally because the administrative member did not follow through with the other parent...we had to reach out and take a risk to communicate with the parents one on one. So with Jesus, prayer and leading of God we took the matter into our own hands and got to the bottom of it and those parents are now an open book with us and we with them. ALL ABOUT IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE ALL OF THESE KIDS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. We parents are working closer with each other because you cannot always depend on the school to follow through on ongoing issues.

Many of the teachers do not initiate parent teacher conferences accept the first one at the beginning of the year. They have a different mindset at this school when it comes to getting parent involvement/communication. Many of the teachers want parents to reach out in which we do, but many of them, NOT ALL OF THE TEACHER BUT MANY, get offended when you want information and ask questions about your child as if we the parents are doing something wrong by reaching out and asking. Last time I checked that is a parental right among other parents rights.

This school is awesome for the most part....have had to request meetings because we as parents were not accepting the labels placed on one of our children in whom they really don't know personally!! Administration could do better at following through on investigations instead of saying that they will investigate an issue and they never have followed back up with the parents on the end result. We have also requested meetings to address issues to come to the meeting and for the staff and administration to act as if they are the one's that called the meeting and act as if to reprimand us the parents....NOT GOING TO HAPPEN and we have let them know. More respect could be given to all parents not just hispanic parents....other minorities such as black parents give negative feedback in regards to how they weren't made aware of issues that we as parents have tried to address with their kid/s bothering our kids or our kids bothering there's.. You reach out to the school to request that a parent meeting or phone call would be given to the other parent in regards to some issues that have come up between our children and there's and find out after communicating with the parent on our own in the community because that is what a community is about conversing and intermingling with parents and talking to keep a look out for our neighbors, we find out that the administrative staff that said they would open the lines of communication with parents failed to do so....another issue showing as a failure in following up with parents like they said!! But who is to say they cannot do better...we are sticking with Berryhill because we don't run from problems as we have shared with the principal of this school and other administration over and over....we just expect the staff to follow through on their word and do what they say they are going to do!! We also have confidence that superintendents and all will make the necessary changes needed to make this a better school.

Another concern is that we feel the overall ethnic diversity could be more diverse. The school is majority hispanic and so is our neighborhood and many of the surrounding neighborhoods. We tend to see that many of the hispanic community stick together and avoid others outside their race not all but many. We are a diverse family of many races and coming from all parts of the US we are not used to segregated mindsets!

We will not answer yay or nay.....all we will say is that the school and its administrative staff is learning from day to day like any other school...they constantly work on improving strategies to make the school better with each year. We are sticking with them through and through as long as we have to because things could be worse somewhere else.

WE teach our kids these things for the MAJORITY of their life....when caught off track the school does its best to help reinforce what we are teaching....It is not the school job to raise these kids....good home training and raising starts at home. So I feel bad for kids being sent to school and parents expecting the teachers to do there job.

There should be more than just reading in the lower grades...challenge these kids with reports or some hands on activity at home from time to time....now that our kids have gone up in grades their is more homework. We look forward to being engaged with this (homework) gives us an opportunity as parents to challenge our kids minds and take time to explain and answer all of our kids questions to help them growth cognitively!

My twins are excited every morning to go to school and see what adventures of learning is awaiting them. The Pre-K staff is excellent in developing the skills needed for kindergarten.

Excellent teachers, EC staff, ESL staff, arts staff, science instruction, and administration. All five of my children attend/ have attended here. Community school with magnet school quality.

Devoted teachers. Wise leaders. Overcrowded but what CMS school isn't? Great rural setting. Could stand a bit of remodeling but, hey, it's what happens IN the classroom that really matters.

I love this school. I have a fifth grader and a kindergardener here and they also love it. Next year the school is going to pre-k - 8th grade and I am so happy. My fifth grader can stay and my seventh grader will also get to go here. Yay!
