I would rate my experience as middle of the road. I am a single male parent and some how I have heard things that seems to come across as my child is intimadated by me. Yet when I asked for details to why you made or would make this statement it is avoided or change of topic. Which leaves me to question are you the teacher intimadated by me or the fact that I am truly involved and engaged in my child education.

My son receives homework for his grade level yet I do not feel the teacher is truly engaged.

His Kindergarten teacher was engaged and then disengaged. His first grade teacher I am truly not sure about what to say as I had my P.T.C and she did not inspire confidence in me as a parent about my child. I am asked for tutoring and her repsonse went straight to I.E.P review no grounds for her reasoning other than something she noticed which does not assist me as a parent and I requested tutoring.

I do this at home with my child and it carries over to school. The foundation that school strives for conveys these chararter traits.

The Principal is in her second full year and she brought back programs like the P.T.O. I am growing with her leadership at the school. I have no idea what challenges she faces so I will remain neutral.

I was told my child is getting reviewed for an I.E.P with no follow up or rational as to why or is there something I am able to do at home to assist my child. I am also requested extra tutoring and have yet to see that assistance for my child.

From what I have seen the teachers handles bullying in a positve manner.

I love it! My two kids love it and it really feels like a second family to them. They beg me to go to almost every school function!

They put a sense of responsibility on the children by giving them challenging yet achievable goals with homework.

My child did a complete turn around in 3rd Grade with his teacher. She pushed him to do his very best and not just accept a passing grade.

You can't walk 5 feet into the school without seeing what character traits they encouraged because they are written on practically every wall.

The principal is extremely involved and is at every school function. Always reachable.

They offer tutoring free of charge and offer different types of learning for different types of students.

Every school will have some type of bullying. I completely trust that this school will make an educated decision before acting.

My son attended this school and was bullied more times than I'd like to discuss. When he would return home after each day of school I would ask him how was his day at school and he began to tear up as he described his day. Needless to say as his mother I was even more hurt than he was about his experience. I did everything in my power to communicate this situation to the teacher,staff,principal and district employees. The resolution was to move him out of that particular class to another but the issue persist. The year ended (thank heavens) and my son no longer attends Morton. He was thrilled to learn he would be attending another school and did not have to return to Morton.

My son is in kindergarten and a little girl hit him so he hit her back. The teacher wanted in his backpack so she can move him down a color and write a bad note to me. When he refused to let her touch him she continued to be forceful. My son got scared and started kicking and hitting and according to her bit which he's NEVER done before. She called for help another lady restrained him, he swears he was choked and couldn't breath "I BELIEVE HIM" the next day I had a meeting with a couple of the ladies and got a real bad vibe.
Last night it was late and I told him we can do his homework in the morning, he got so afraid and starting shaking and said if he doesn't do his homework his teacher will be so MAD at him and he doesn't want her mad.
He is afraid of her. The principal says she's the best she's got.
I'm considering home schooling my children, this situation is horrible.

We have 2 children at Morton, 1st and 3rd graders. They have been students there since Kindergarten. The teachers and staff are AMAZING! We have been pleased each year with our children's love for learning, as well as love for their teachers and school. We noticed a huge change in the atmosphere when Mrs. Bachelor became the principal last year. It was like a breath of fresh air! It has a small town friendly feel, and lots of activities to be involved in. We have loved being part of the Morton family.

I was a little worried when we moved to the area and I first checked out Morton on this site but I must say we have had nothing but great experiences at this school! My sons teacher is beyond amazing and the Principal and all other staff I have been around are great! Ms Bachelor the principal really has a passion for the school and the students. I couldn't ask for a better school for my child!

My son has been going to this school for 7 months now. It took us 4 months to even get a parent teacher conference and to top that off that was the first time we even meet his teachers. Even though his grades have come up and we have seen and improvement on that part. We have seen a very bad mood change in our son ever since he started this school. He has been bullied on more then one occasion. Now since he has been sticking up for him self because he the school wanted to do nothing at all, he is getting punished for it. I went to this school as a child and thought it would be a great school for my child. I am really second guessing my decision on that now. They do keep the school looking amazing and have a lot of fun raisers for the kids. My main concern is that you are not notified when your child gets in trouble, you do not have the right to be there when they are scolding as I would say your child. Which very much irritates me, I feel like I have the right to be there to defend my child or make sure he is being treated fairly. Overall we have not had a great experience with this school. I just hope next year is better and we do not have the same problems over again!

When this year started we were very optimistic. The principal is fantastic, and the school grounds are up to date. The teacher however, we have come to find could not be worse, we will be moving mid-year and I could not be happier about that. This teacher has ruined kindergarten for my child, and I hope her attitude toward learning is not beyond repair.

My son attends 2nd grade at Morton. So far my experience with his education has been great. My son went up more than an entire grade level in reading since he began half way through the school year. I've been impressed with my son's experience at Morton. Ihope this continues for him well into the next school year as well.

My Sons went there when Mr. Barnes was the principal. We loved it! He was a super principal and the teachers were fantastic. It seems like the school has gone downhill since he left. How sad.

We've had children at Morton for several years. I can say it started out great when we first got there but it has gone no where but down. This year (2010-2011) has been the downfall of Morton. The only plus to the school is the majority of the teachers are top notch. The failure of the school comes from the top down. If there isn't a change in "leadership" for the next school year my kids will be going to another school. MES had been a Title I school for the past couple years so I'm sure it'll be easy to have them transfer.

If you research you will find that Morton has failed to meet the standards of learning for more than 8 years. While the staff is friendly, the students are not challenged. My daughter has an excellent teacher this year but last year was a nightmare. My child showed very little progress last year and the teacher's excuse for not grading papers or communicating with me was that grading papers was not a top priority. She also said she felt no need to continue with a child's learning skills once they met the minimum requirements! When I expressed concern, nothing was done. A neighbor has had such extensive issues with a teacher that they are moving to base housing solely as a means of pulling their son from the school since the new principle is failing to help, much the same as last year's principle did nothing for me. Other neighbors are having similar issues and our children have different teachers. Due to complete lack of teacher accountability, the number of bad teaching seeds, and the failing standards, I rate this school as poor.

THis is our second and final year at Moron. Last year was A+. actually came in midyear last year. Atmosphere was like family from the first. Atmposhere this year is changed for the worse. I dont know the principal in the other posts or the new principals but change is top down and i guess they have decided to change. I cant go there without finding a new rule or reason to stop me from whatever. our teacher is great though.

Already, my family is missing Mr. Barnes. There's a different feel in the air. I'm sure the new principal is fine, but Mr. Barnes was exceptional.

I agree. Morton is a great school. Principal Barnes, the assistants, the teachers, almost all the staff, they are good people, easy to deal with, responsive. Maybe a bad apple or two, but very few. I would like the whole group to move to middle school and high school with my children.
