SO MANY delayed buses, buses never showing up… never any alerts or updates so you can wait over an hour just for buses to pick up or drop off students.

This is the k-12 albums school, brutal, ignores bullying, intensifies bad mental health, and everyone there is just so rude and cruel. Call me a snowflake but at least I’m not the one literally bullying my friend to the point she withdrew from the school while the teachers did nothing about it.

I’m an 8th grader here and not going to lie but this school is pretty bad especially when I was in the 7th grade (2022-2023). All my teachers are fine…except one, my social studies teacher she taught us nothing, I can’t even remember what I learned in that class. All you did was something called flocabulary every week and if it wasn’t that then it was some assignment that teaches you nothing. If you ask any one who was in that class who was the worst teacher they would probably say her or one of their elective teachers. She isn’t a 7th grade teacher anymore she teaches EC now. Some positive things about this school is that we scored the highest in the EOG out of the whole district and every one in the front office is very nice. STEM class was the most fun class out of them all the teacher was nice and funny, the football players that were in my class liked him probably because he was an assistant coach. In the 6th grade all of the teachers were fine they would actually help you and wouldn’t be mean or have an attitude, But there is one thing that this school does best…Fights and Drama, To the point where there is instagram accounts about drama and fight videos. They are entertaining and will be the subject of a conversation for the rest of day but the amount of fights there are is kind of wild. It’s only been 4 weeks into the (2023-2024) school year and there has already been three fights and two of them were between 7th graders. The last thing I have to mention is the bus, all buses are loud and chaotic especially in the afternoon and if you are one of the first stops to get picked up in the morning get ready to start waking up at 5:45 to around 6:00 because if you don’t you will probably miss it depending on how your morning routine is. I recommend not going to this school or city it’s not that good.

This underfunded place is horrible.
The school food is deplorable, the bathrooms are continuously unclean and vandalized, the buses are late, loud, and, violent, and the 6th graders all argue over the dang simplest of things such as someone just looking at them funny. The administration has called one of my friend's parents because he late because they didn't have a substitute for Bus 12 and the ensuing traffic jam caused him to be late. The homework is very crushing, and combined with having to wake up early if you're first on a bus route, plus any extracurriculars, can cause you to get only 6 hours of sleep.
Absolutely do not recommend this school, nor even living in Fayetteville, the city of no opportunity.

The teachers don't communicate and give out hours (Not an exaggeration) of homework. I play sports and come home to do work and don't get to bed until around 10 or 11.

I am not happy with the way their homework are managed. They can't take science material home to study, only rare study guides. Science has always been my child's favorite subjects and here all the motivation and enthusiasm disappeared, and not because it's harder, but because the teachers indifference to the subject as well as to the children succeeding. I can't wait when the year is over and hope she is getting a better Science teacher than Ms. Hye. 6 Grade Patriots team has more effective teachers than Waverunners after comparison of classroom material, teaching methods, homeworks.

Spoke to the principal several times about behavior of a student and it was often ignored or forgotten. My son had to attend ISS (well deserved) and came home describing ISS like a party where the teacher didn't care what they did

Due to my work, my son had to transfer school, after looking at ratings, we moved to the school assuming it would be a good school.
After talking to the principal, learned that the school doesn't fail the students. They gave students 50's for not turning in assignments and if the student was failing at the end of the year they bumped the grades to 70's.

Each grade is broken into teams, this seems like a great way to enhance communication between teachers and parents, however, when a plan was developed to assist a student, it wasn't often followed by all of the teachers

We are relatively long term residents of this area. We moved here almost 5 years ago because the schools here had great scores and reviews. Since then, the middle school has plummeted. My child is failing INSIDE the classroom. I have no idea how to help him inside the classroom. The school believes more in teaching the kids responsibility than actually ensuring they are retaining what they learn. He struggles on all his homework and saddled down for hours every weeknight. He went from a AIG student to C average student in 1 year. We are considering a private school now.

Pine Forest Middle was a huge disappointment. I can't speak about all the sixth grade teachers, but I do know that my child had some really negative and sarcastic teachers. I expect the teachers to set an example of appropriate behavior. Some teachers were absolutely RUDE to the students and especially to special needs students who were in some of the regular classes. It made the transition to middle school so much harder. Science class was 98% worksheets. The PE teacher was on his phone a lot of the time. Social studies was almost completely done on computers. The print on math worksheets was so small, our optometrist suggested we get our child reading glasses! Several parents had meetings with the principal to address issues with the AG teacher. One bright spot was definitely band. We're so glad to have sixth grade behind us!

Unfortunately, one of the worst schools my child has ever attended. This school if a nightmare, so bad we moved. The teachers to not teach they had out papers tell the students to do it while they play on the computer and or their phone. Then when asked a question they act like you are interrupting their precious time. The assistant principle is the biggest bully of them all. Do not go to her with any problems of any kind she will belittle you to the point you feel so low after leaving her office. The principle is nice but he will tell you want you want to hear just to have you shut up and leave. He will not stand his ground with the assistant principle, with that said I'm not sure why he is the principle when he's scared to stand up to her. The communication between teachers and parents is a zero. Their is no communication unless it has to do with the school needing money for something. The female coach for girls basketball, and volleyball will criticize and mock your child during tryouts so bad that your child decides not to finish tryouts. Which is terrible knowing your child is doing their very best to make the team. I will never recommend this school to anyone. Stay far far away. With all do respect they need to fire a lot of the staff and start from scratch. Good luck if you choose this school you will need it.

This is the worst school my child has ever attended. The principal lacks leadership and the female assistant principal singles students out but fails to reply to parents' emails or calls. I am readily looking for somewhere else to send my child before I lose it on one of them.

This school should be better than average with the kids that are feeding into it from Long Hill Elem and Howard Hall Elem, but it is not. Parents are pulling their children to homeschool or sending them to private schools. Some of the teachers here are really good and educate accordingly; however, because of the lack of leadership, the teachers that can slack off, do slack off. We have only put up with it because we are military and won't be here very long.

I am really surprised by some of the negative comments! We couldn't be happier with PFMS! I guess every school has it's problems and share of great teachers & not so good ones, as we experienced at JGMS. PFMS was more than accommodating in getting our child into the AIG program, which JGMS did not. We have all had a great experience at PFMS and our child absolutely loves PFMS, the teachers, & staff. The teachers get back to us via emails and even call us when/if needed. Maybe we just had the best team of teachers that are very caring, informative, and want to be teaching. Too bad PFMS is losing Ms. Bragg, one of the best science teachers we've ever encountered, to JGMS. We just wish we would have had our child attend PFMS for all 3 years instead of supposedly attending "one of the best" middle schools in Fayetteville at JGMS. This one has them beat & the Pine Forest area is soooo much closer to Fort Bragg. Our child really felt like part of the community there & has had a great group of friends. I guess everyone's experience is different. Also like how they do their EOG prep.

As great as the elementary schools that feed into Pine Forest Middle School are, you would expect much more from this school. It's a shame that the kids are prepared so well in elementary school to have to move to this school that obviously could care less about teaching our kids. This will be my last year here. We will be making the move to private school. So unfortunate.

Really great school! Don't understand what the negative reviews are talking about but I certainly enjoy this school. There's not really hate but a lot of ghetto-like kids as even your child could be a ghetto-like kid. Every student in this school swears and I guarantee that your child indeed swears. I know I'm getting out of topic but I've even seen the smartest and the "goody two-shoes" do it as well. I'm pretty sure 99% of these kids swear and your kid probably does it. Don't believe your kid if he says that's not true because he is now lying to you. And it's not like you never swore as a kid so please don't get on to your kid about this because they end up doing it anyway. Other than that, the teachers are friendly, educational, and fun. The thing that I don't like is that some of the cafeteria staff are rude depending on what your child is doing. The thing I absolutely love the most about this school is the students and the counselors. The counselors are the most helpful adults you can trust and talk to so I recommend to go to a counselor if your child or you (as a student) to go to one if there is any problem. One final thing that bothers me is the strict dress code.- Student

Very happy with this school overall. Overall excellent teachers, once in a while, there is one that isn't great, but for the most part, my child likes his teachers and is learning a lot. The one thing I do not like is that there has been a sub since almost the first day of school, since the teacher had a baby. It is a large school, but they seem to run it well. I think my child is learning a lot, and I would recommend this school.

The school is the worst place to be. I used to attend this school a few years ago and I have been bullied, harassed, and excluded by many many cruel pupils. Worse, I've been disrespected by a teacher. I wanted to transfer, but it was a cost and my friends attended PFMS. I must also point out that the teachers, administration, and faculty don't even handle with the bullying, and just let me and my friends be maliciously treated by those bullies. The education was also fruitless, in which the school subjects were too easy and we learned nothing new. Sometimes, the subjects were abstract. I recommend that nobody should attend this school.

This school has really gotten under my skin from day one! The teachers don't respond to emails in a timely matter and when they do it always end with, " please feel free to contact the principal if you any more questions or concerns". The communication between teacher and parent don't exist. If my child needs cans for a fundraiser they send notes home and auto calls are made, but if she needs items for a science project I have to wait until my child remembers to tell me and then she doesn't know how many or when she needs it by. That is only the tip of the iceberg! I think the teachers speak the students disrespectfully and then try to cover it when asked about it. Lunch is way to short and to early for 6th graders to then not be allowed an afternoon snack, and according the principal; ' the child will not die' Die?! Yes I am sending my child to school to thrive not to only survive the time as if it were prison. This school has chosen to have a dress code that only applies to the students. You can not wear winter boots, or decorative scarfs because it is policy. If you break this code you will be sent to ISS until a parent can bring a change of shoes. looking for options now.

Middle school is such an adjustment for the kids, I was really concerned, because you hear all the horror stories of middle school. But we haven't had any problems, my daughter really likes it and has kept many of the friends she had in elementary school and made some new ones too. The teachers are all very nice, and she has had several projects to turn in. She has been very happy overall, no issues, and looking forward to the next couple of years! We haven't had any issues to require the principal, but he seems very nice. Parent involvement, well, I think once they hit middle school, they really want to be independent, so it isn't as involved as elementary school. Great school overall!

Im not even sure where to begin. The administration at this school is checked-out. There is very little educating being done here. My daughter has just finished 6th grade and this school is a joke. From the education, to the administration....this school needs to be re-vamped. Great school district when we moved here. It has not proven to be. Very disappointed.

Teachers and staff are helpful and friendly. Really a friendly family type atomsphere. No bullying or "cliques". the one "bad" thing is that i feel the teachers are to easy on the kids. I have two kids here, through all three grades and i feel that sometimes the grades are "handed' to the kids...

While, I don't feel that PFMS is perfect, I really must disagree with the majority of the comments that I am reading here. PFMS has fine teachers and administration. I think that most parents who complain, probably are the type of parents who in no way try to get involved and feel that their child is the schools issue from the hours of 8am-3pm. Any concern I have ever had in my sons 3 years at this school, have been solved quickly, fairly and with care and concern with one phone call or visit. The principal and his administration is extremely approachable and I would trust them with any issue. Some parents are so quick to redirect blame from where it truly lies; with themselves or their child. Any school will have a bad egg or two and could work on test scores, and PFMS is no different. They have produced some really bright and highly educated children!

The teachers at this school are very disrespectful to the students, even treat them like they could care less. So sad for the good kids, because some of them like my own are good. The office staff doesnt answer questions for the parents and stands behind their staff even if they're wrong. If you're not a child of a teacher or staff member, you don't have a voice. We're moving at the end of the year, and if we werent, I would be pulling my son or going to the Board of Education with a long list of complaints. Pathetic for a lack of a better term.

This is not a good school,some of the teachers try but adminstration does nothing to curb behavior problems, bullying, or the lack of providing good discipline. The students run the school basically and adminsration will say one this to the parents to appease them but that is all the farther it goes.

My child just past the 8th grade EOGs and I want to say that the 8th grade PFMS teachers really worked with my child in passing the EOGs. But I also want to add that I let the teachers know that it was important that my child might need extra help. I stayed in contact with the teachers. That is important b ecause in the 6th grad and the 7th grade my child had at least 1 teacher who did not want to keep me informed of how my child was doing. Usually my child did not pass the EOG with these teachers. My tip for parents who have students entering PFMS is to stay in contact with your child's teachers. One situation that still needs to be changed at PFMS is that in 3 years I have not seen a Latino, Asian or African-American student as peer helper at the front office. This is something future students or faculty can change.
