They have good programs for kids with learning differences.

They do not take bullying seriously. In fact, theyll tell you that you have no idea what bullying is and that youre completely wrong. Theyll also tell you that if youre being threatened everyday at school , you just need to ignore it and itll go away by itself!

This is the most disappointing school Ive ever attended. They claim to care about mental health but when it really hits the fan they tuck their tails and give sorry apologies. Where was that Im better than you energy then? They dont take bullying seriously in any sense of the word, theyd rather let you get seriously injured before they intervene. This is one sad excuse for a school. Ive learned more from the real world and other programs than I EVER had in my years there.

They pick and choose the kids they want to see succeed and ignore the rest!

The majority of kids here that Ive met do not have respect for authority, have no moral compass and do not know right from wrong. Its rare that youll come across kids who are genuinely concerned about peoples well being and feelings.

The principal is extremely condescending and assumes you have no idea what youre talking about. (whatever the subject of conversation may be)

They do not address the bullying at this school whatsoever. If the kid who is bullying is in sped they will make it look like the other child is the cause or put the blame on other children.

I graduated from Las Cruces High School in 2012 after transferring from a rather affluent school in Albuquerque where I had been mercilessly harassed and bullied. I absolutely adored Cruces and to this day am thankful that I attended there. Although the school has a (somewhat deserved) reputation for being "ghetto", all of the kids were always extremely friendly. The Teachers were for the most part good. There is a lot of school spirit among the students. This school is also very diverse. I had several classes where I was the only white student and those classes were some of my favorite. The AES/Gifted program is absolutely fantastic. The facilitators of AES are underpaid but still do their job incredibly well. The sports teams are stellar. The punishments for the students are very reasonable. The point of high school is to prepare you for the real world both socially and academically and Cruces High does that fantastically.
