My son is wrapping up his first year at Wallin Elementary and he has grown so much not just academically but in his confidence and social interactions. I love his teacher Mrs. Jackson, she truly cares about her students and has been such an advocate for my son. I am very happy so far with my experience. PTA and fund raisers are a little much but overall can't complain.

The teachers are great and have been wonderful! I really feel the teachers care about their students here and never had any issues. Both my kids love Wallin.

Only admins favorites get the best teachers. Look at all the long time families/pta kids/staff kids- they get the veteran teachers and preferential treatment- leaving early with no ding, parents allowed at award ceremonies etc.

Used to be a good school but the shakeup with no real admin team for a year changed that. Now the school is slipping.

Wallin used to be great; the past principal truly knew how to run the school with respect for the students, parents, and teachers. But, sadly, that's not where it's at anymore. The new principal has completely destroyed the culture and enjoyment of Wallin for the students and restricted them on so many levels. I mean WHO doesn't allow sweets in the lunchroom on birthdays???!!! What is the point? It's the small, yet significant, things like that that continue to drain every last bit of happiness from the school. She is losing staff members left and right, like those that have been essential to Wallin since the beginning, and that is EXTREMELY hard to do especially when it comes to the loyal and hardworking people that it is regarding. So so sad. We have all had such amazing memories and friendships grow from Wallin, but I'm afraid that experience is becoming close to impossible to maintain under such bad management. The problem is that she is a rule follower with no backbone. If the district says to do something, she does it religiously. When the 51st in the nation says keep kids in the same groups for contact tracing, eliminate spelling tests, and drain the kids of any sort of enjoyment and creativity she does it (maybe there is more money if she follows these "rules" but that doesn't make it right). Where would any of us be without spelling tests? This school district is a disaster and restricts any and all freedom from the teachers. Our kids and teachers deserve better. They deserve someone who will fight alongside them and not be afraid to do what is right, but the number of declining enrollments is alarming. This truly is an amazing school at the core, and has so much potential, but lacks proper management.

Terrible terrible. This will be the third comment to mention the principal and other administration. They dont care and if you ask questions or try to advocate for your kid its immediately shut down. They have no ability to be self-reflective that something they do or say could be wrong or actually damaging to a child. Main teacher is checked out and doesnt care at all. If you are zoned for this school immediately try to find another placement or private. Awful.

Went there for two years. Sadly, as previous reviewers stated there was not one positive experience with the principal. She makes quick decisions and really is not friendly to parents at all. Even if they work and volunteer at the school. After multiple exchanges with her still will still act as though you are a new person. At the time they did not have a 504/IEp coordinator and I was constantly following up and even lost paperwork. They are not proactive is special education services - you have to FIGHT for them. There are some amazing teachers in the mix, but Some that are not. Inconsistent. Seems as though they really dont want parents in there asking questions or questing if something doesnt seem right. If your kid is struggling they will still struggle at the school; get outside testing and tutoring.

My son was fine with all of the instruction, my daughter needed extra help here and there. Teachers were responsive to inquiries to email and usually were able to provide strategies to help my daughter grow.

They focus on a few core values like "be kind". I think it is enough for an elementary school. If you want your school to develop your kids character send them to private school.

Sometimes the rules seem overbearing but it is because of a few bad "parents" and kids that have caused them to tighten up the rules so the school can be a safe enjoyable place to learn. That is good leadership.

Our daughter had a speech impediment which caused her spelling development to lag behind. They worked with her and us to help her along. She also had a special development plan and a speech coach at the school.

We had to deal with bullying a couple of times which made our kids anxious to go to school. When it was raised to the teacher they immediately spoke to parents and it was either stopped or the bully stopped being so obvious.

It is a great school. This review is being written at the end of COVID-19 pandemic and this school like many were unprepared for mass student distance learning. We are leaving and going to miss the Fall Semester. However, we cannot say enough how kind and effective the staff and leadership have been. This is the best school in Henderson and I think it goes up against some of the privates and charters in the area.

Two kids at this school. They get a normal amount of homework. When my kids were focused on doing it usually took way less than an hour. There are a lot of bigger projects that parents end up basically doing but I think they are good learning experience for your kids as they get older they need these skills.

My family has attended this school since 2012 and love it. The teachers are outstanding and truly care about our kids, the administration is as good as it gets and it always working to keep our students safe and finding new ways to excel. They have worked to help each of my kids in individual ways. The specialists are AMAZING! The PTA provides several free events every year, and typically the events they do charge admission for are still free for PTA members. The PTA also provides grants to the teachers for programs the individual grade-levels need. All around an excellent environment for our children!

Teachers are great. Not too much homework either which is nice.
But the PTA is lousy. :( Well terrible. Ill planners and horrible communicators. They charge and arm and leg to get into activities. Halloween Party (where at most schools is FREE) they charge 12 bucks an adult and 8 for kids.. hold a fundraiser or something, but stop charging for things that should be free.
For Santa Christmas activity they shut it down 30 minutes early. RUDE to families that got ready and planned on attending.RUDE RUDE--ILL Planned--thanks so NOTHING :( :(

Just another reason Nevada is ranked last in the nation..."Blue Ribbon" in nevada is equivalent to below average elsewhere...private school is the only way to guarantee your child is not left behind..Nevada is dead last in public schooling in the nation..

Love this school and have had nothing but amazing challenging teachers for my sons and they work at each child's individual pace for reading and math. This school has only gotten better year after year!

Our son is going on his second year at Wallin. We are really happy with his progress. The teachers seem to really enjoy their job. I am not too happy with the all year round change but we will see how it works out!

The Class room technology availabale to the teachers is impressive. Children learn at different paces and it s great that this school has a program in place to address that fact. Children are placed into reading and math classes according to their abilities. They switch classrooms for instruction, similar to junior high. Children who are struggling receive instruction at a leveled pace and those who are above grade level are challenged and receive accelerated work at a pace to keep their interest. Great idea! All schools should implement this program. Inappropriate conduct and language is not tollerated. Only complaint I have is the amount of candy given to the kids as rewards. Lunch options could be improved. According to our pediatric dentist "..apple juice pays my mortgage because it is nothing but sugar. Should be avoided!" Yet it is the only option provided for lunch EVERY DAY. (other than milk) What's wrong with water? :)

Rating this school based on the teachers and the quality of learning my children get is definitely a 5 star rating!! PTA and some other personnel there would maybe get 2 stars, based off of friendliness, or lack thereof, seems like they are always asking for more money from parents etc... The teachers are amazing, we have been there since it opened!

Polished and sparkled but no free thinking allowed. Office lady is rude (more than once). I have to agree with the politics of the last comment. Politics rule and these parents think they deserve a private education in a public school. Unreal - but not for those who pony up.

Overall, this is a great school. Like most schools, there is a lot of politics here regarding class placement and that gets frustrating when you see the same parents getting the best teachers this school has to offer all of the time. My son has done very well and has an IEP so I can overlook the politics.
