I am a freshman and I was looking through the student reviews talking about getting bullied and terrible teachers, while yes few teachers are not the best most are, also I have not seen any bad behavior of bullying, I have made quite a bit of friends and everyone is nice welcoming and friendly. one post talked about drugs and alcohol or something like that, but I just don't see it, Its one of if not the best high school, I feel like I am being challenged and enjoy myself, I am in classes meant for grades above me, and it lets me be at my own level. Fantastic School.

Teachers aren't too bad and I really enjoy being educated and learning. However, the administration is a complete other story. The administration at this school are abominable. I am a student at this school and I truly wouldn't have complaints other than the administration. They are completely unempathetic, don't try to understand their students, and are completely unhelpful. It seems that their main concern is just trying to dress code girls and make sure your ID is on to go get lunch instead of focusing on helping us improve our education and choose the classes that fit us best. I tried to express my concern about how an ELECTIVE caused me a lot of mental health problems and stress the year prior yet they still continue to force me into it this year (mind you, you should have a choice on what electives you choose) and I had to give up on taking an AP class that would benefit me and that I would enjoy because of an ELECTIVE that isn't going to help me and only will cause me problems.

This school offers a robust academic environment, assisting students with ACT prep from day one and fostering ambition through clubs, internships, and academic programs. However, occasional behavioral issues and a daily occurrence of vaping in restrooms are areas of concern. Additionally, the administration's neutral stance on problems could be more proactive. Despite these challenges, the school's commitment to academic success remains commendable, with potential for even greater excellence through addressing these issues effectively.

I saw someone complain about Sports at the school. Indeed, they don't have anything more than occasional intramurals, but both my kids participated in Sports at their home school for which we were zoned. So that is a nonissue. My daughter was able to compete and win TWO National High School cheer championships and my son's soccer team was District Champs and made it to the final four. So if your kids love sports...they can compete while still attending one of only THREE Las Vegas High Schools ranked in the TOP 500 nationally at the time of my writing. While my kids went there, the parents who tended to complain were the ones whose kids didn't have the chops to be at college-level academics or handle the school load they needed to excel. The fact is, every ranking has West Tech at the top. So if you want your kid to be prepared to do well in college and be academically challenged, this is the place. I couldn't have been more pleased with the education they got for free compared to some of the touted private schools that have great sports but don't compare as well academically. My kids passed the testing and were accepted to TWO private schools but after a tour, we found West Tech to be superior in every way...except sports. However, we took the academic trade.

Our children are Freshman and it's been a great start for them. They are doing very well academically.

This school is outstanding! Students are given the opportunity to excel academically and be themselves. My daughters felt safe and supported. There are very few behavior problems at this school, and the administration is top notch. The majority of the teachers are excellent. The school has a strong reputation as one of the best in the state, which can translate into more scholarship money from colleges. Students interested in playing high school sports can still do so at their zone school. The focus at this school is academics. Students must randomly get chosen in a lottery to be able to attend this school. Don’t give up! Sometimes students are waitlisted and later get in.

The only decent thing about this school includes some teachers here as well as the drive of a few to succeed and achieve. Those few go above and beyond what is expected while dedicating their effort to various activities outside of class. The few great teachers exhibit that behavior as well.
When I first got to this school, I didn't know that many people. I wasn't apart of the cliquey Summerlin MS groups. I arrived on the first day and was completely lost. They don't welcome or give instructions, you kinda have to figure it out on your own (which is whatever, it's not like you're lost forever). I met my teachers, and boy were there some horrible ones. One refused to be lenient to students and the other treated her classes like they were in pre-school. One completely stopped teaching after the first semester, the PE classes are absolutely garbage and one didn't even understand the material of the course he was teaching. The only good teachers I had was an English teacher that unfortunately doesn't teach here anymore who made his curriculum to the point. Another I had was a Freshman Studies teacher who also doesn't teach here anymore but prepared us for college, APA and the a fraction of the school. Another I had was a Spanish teacher who always made his classes to the point and interesting. Basically, I was able to breathe 3 out of 8 periods a day. I was surrounded by a variety of people, those who cared about their education and those who didn't. It was fairly simple during those times. However, when I progressed, I noticed a lot of my peers starting to be depressed and develop anxiety. This was due to the work and social incoherence of a lot of students. This led a good amount of them to be desperate and fake for attention and popularity. I've seen so many do drugs, alcohol and smoke. If you're focused on self-improvement and projects, you'll have a hard time finding real friends. The quality of teachers never got better and even if the teacher did teach material effectively, they would completely disregard students' mental health. Again, there were only a few good ones in the sand. (Of course there are some students that are naturally whiny and complained about anything, but there were a lot of teachers who simply shouldn't be apart of teen development) In general, classes here (besides like one) don't prepare you for standardized testing and unless you're going to an in-state college, don't bother with this hellhole. The credits are close to useless.

The teachers here don't care about their students or their education. The teachers here do as they please, happily treating students like they're worthless and expecting the students to keep quiet about it. I once saw a student get suspended for trying to stand up for a student who was getting bullied by a teacher. Teachers are supposed to teach, not bully.

I've seen students with depression and anxiety mocked by teachers when given an extension for a deadline. Not professional at all

Many students at this school suffer from depression and anxiety due to the lack of authority when dealing with bullying. I know many students who tried killing themselves because of bullying at this school and the administration did little to nothing to fix it.

Overall, it was a terrible experience. The only upside about this school is that I got to leave it. Yes, the teachers teach but at what cost? At a childs' mental and physical health? When will the district actually do something about the poor kids here who are just trying to survive but are constantly bullied into submission?

Overall West Tech has engaged, good teachers. But as in any school there are still weak links, who lack the skill and interest. e.g. engineering teacher...

My daughter has always attended private school and I feel like she is attending another private school. We are so happy she is at West Tech; the technology and academics are incredible in a safe environment.

This is a great school, 5 star, excellent teachers. Is the only Google pilot school in the district; the Google-WestCTA partnership allows students to collaborate digitally construct electronic portfolios, and engage in the most dynamic and creative projects involving digital media, animation, and a host of other applications. My son is doing great and happy at WCTA!
