The school doesn't truly care about your well-being. Many of the teachers treat kids unfairly and some of the administrators and counselors are so pompous and self-centered that none of them really care about what the kids are saying, only "it's just a rumor." The kids here are not great either. So many of them are entitled, spoiled brats who talk behind each other's backs and whenever there's any problem, they scream and cry and yell like a 5 year old. The school has gotten worse since COVID-19. I remember before COVID-19, the teachers and administrators actually cared, the school was more fun and had more accommodations, and it actually seemed like it was worth its money. Now, there's no reason to even go here. They pay 20,000$ for tuition. How is that fair?? That's even more than their OWN partner high school, Bishop Gorman. Not only that, but despite all that money, the accommodations and just overall resources given to the kids is laughable. The school lunches have given food poisoning before, their chicken tenders are literally pink. Compared to other private schools, like Faith or Meadows, they give so many more accommodations, their schedules and schools are so much bigger, and overall the students would genuinely be happier. So many students here are already miserable, spending their time with the same grade of 60 people for over 8 years. If you get unlucky and you get someone that you don't like in your class, you have to deal with it. You don't get to request your classes, and sometimes they will KNOW that you hate someone, and yet they still put you in the same class. Unlike normal high school schedules (or really what other private middle schools use), you have a 9 period schedule, and you sit with the same class. You could possibly have the same kids for 36 weeks, disrupting the same classes, to the point where you could do nothing and the teachers could still hate your class. Not only that, but the school ends so much later. Unlike normal schools, which end at around 1:00-2:00 P.M., the school ends at 3:32 P.M., which not only makes scheduling so much harder for kids who have siblings in other schools, but the day just feels so much longer and so much more grueling. The elementary school at LVDS is not bad, at least from my perspective, but once you get to middle school, I think you would be better off going somewhere else. The middle school program here is lackluster, unengaging, and overall just not worth your (extreme amounts of) money.

This school is not truly about education—it's more of a business. Once you sign the contract, you're locked in, even if you’re unhappy or have serious concerns. There is no option to cancel or withdraw without losing your money, which is very concerning. I would not recommend this school to anyone. The teacher we had was unprofessional and not what you'd expect from a private school. I didn’t see any educators who were passionate about teaching or committed to student success. The administration is unresponsive and unhelpful. If you want to switch classes or leave the school, they offer no support, and all your funds will be withheld. Overall, the school feels more like a profit-driven business than a place that genuinely cares about students or education.

Ever since I have been a student since Kindergarten, I have always loved LVDS. Most of their staff is great, and there are always many students and teachers that are always there to help you. Everyone feels well-respected and happy, and there is basically no bullying. Overall, this school is great, even after the COVID-19 incident.

My child has been at LVD for 6 years now starting from Pre-K. I noticed the quality of school has gradually been decreasing. The owner is now more interested in maximizing his profits than providing adequate education. My child was singled out and harassed just because I raised concerns. They seem nice until you disagree with them. At that point, they would become very arrogant and rude. Many teachers are good but some are really bad and the school administration don't care.

I’m so sorry to hear the past two reviews. LVDS has been transparent from the beginning . They have went above and beyond to keep our kids safe from Covid this past school year to keep them in class learning . Let’s be honest they sent an email explaining their remote learning program and it specifically said THE COMMUNICATION WOULD BE MINIMAL FROM THE TEACHERS.. They did not sugar coat it .They never made it sound as if it was a great online learning program . They were trying to give the parents an option . YES THEY DID GIVE A CREDIT . Not right away but once they had time to breathe and figure it out they offered it. It was new for everyone . Let’s give them a break ! This school is a great school very professional , attentive to the kids needs and consistent .They DO CARE about the kids in every way . Yes there are a few Daseler’s running the school which in my personal opinion is great because they have a mission and they want to see it through . I have been at a school where it’s about the bottom line and they jump at every parents demands. This school is not one of them . It’s about the kids here . They have rules and regardless of income they treat everyone with the same respect . I see clearly where my money goes and LVDS is worth every penny to me. We all have our own experiences but when we write reviews be honest about what the company says .

I echo last review. Before Covid the school was great. Now it's not worth the tuition fee they charge while they simply send students home with books to do on their own with no teaching and no program under the disguise of 'Remote Learning' platform. The teachers my arrange a few zooms chit-chatting but not teaching. Being a former teacher myself, I've seen many different teaching methods/platforms at both public and private schools. Sadly, LVDS is one of the worst if not the worst. Cronyism is rampant. There are at least five Daselers there from Director to Assistant Director to Manager to teachers, etc. They don't care if students would learn at all as long as tuition fees keep on coming in. It ruined mental health of many of the students. They ignored parents' concern. There are other better schools both private and public where your children will have a much much better learning experience.

Before covid 19 the school was great. Their response is completely inadequate. I asked to reduce tuition, only response was they are doing their best. Full tuition while they send out work for students to do on their own, no teaching. Other private schools of this price are teaching remotely, daily. Day School gives one zoom, 30 minute meeting, once a week. It now seems clear the Daseler's want to ensure the money comes in while doing the least expensive thing to actually get through this.

I am a current student here, and I have to say that my experience at this school is amazing. The studies are challenging enough for us to think about it, but not enough to make us give up. The teachers are very helpful, and the homework sometimes can be overloaded, but the teachers always know when to give extra time. This school is amazing.

Posted: October 8, 2018

Even though there can be a lot of homework, the teachers are always there to help us.

Posted: October 8, 2018

They are always helpful and great, they are incredibly nice.

Posted: October 8, 2018

It is a school greatly against bullying, so everyone has respect for one another.

Posted: October 8, 2018

There is a lot of group work, and this improves taking leadership.

Posted: October 8, 2018

The teachers are always with open arms for people who need help.

Posted: October 8, 2018

They have a lot of things against bullying. They share videos, talk about it with the students, and nicely make them turn away from bullying and more into respect.

It has been great since the first day.

Posted: May 10, 2018

They have been around a long time and give great solid advice. We had a tough decision to make whether to hold my child back due to his birthday or not even though he was very smart. It was the best advice we ever received.

Posted: May 10, 2018

My child had several students that were well above many in math. They created a math curriculum to address this so they can reach their trust potential. They create opportunity for their students.

Posted: May 10, 2018

My daughter had a bullying problem from other students. The teacher notified me and the director and it was handled immediately. Girls can be tough in middle school and they knew exactly how to handle it so everyone felt good at the end even the bullies knew they were wrong. Supported by all the parents of both sides. The school knew what to do and it made us feel confident.

Both my children attended from Pre-k through 8th grade. It may seem tough at times but still to this day my daughter thanks me for the preparation that LVDS gave her. She said they helped me get into the top college she's currently attending more than high school. She didn't even want to admit it but she said it was the best education. Best part is the bond that these students carry with them. Even in college they are still close.

Posted: May 10, 2018

My daughter went to this school and at the time I thought there was a lot of work. But once she graduated and off to high school she admitted it was the best preparation she ever had. It has even made college easier.

From top to bottom. The counselors come into the classes and teach compassion and understanding and how to handle real life situations. The coaches teach integrity and the teachers take the time to make sure they understand the material. The school moves at a very fast pace but all the teachers are willing to come earlier or stay after to make sure they succeed. This creates incredible character with from great mentors.

I absolutely love this school, the staff is great, my daughters kindergarten teacher is an angel! Perfect teacher for my child! Very structured and loving school. Extremely pleased that my daughter attends here.

I have been attending this school my whole life and to be frank, it's awful. This school is where creativity comes to die. The extra curricular activities here barely even exist, and the drama program is funded from the teachers pockets. Teachers here are rude and show your child no respect. And the administration will do nothing involving teachers. They think that they are angels that can never be wrong. The elementary school experience is decent but I strongly urge you to send your child somewhere else for high school. The class sizes are ridiculously small and ELECTIVES DO NOT EXIST. Your child will be taking PE and art every other quarter along with everyone else. They will also be put in an extremely useless computer class in which you learn absolutely nothing. I can guarantee that if you send your child here they will become very good at cheating seeing as that's what everyone here does. The middle school is a hallway, a 98 yard hallway. The school rips the soul out of your child and puts them through emotional pain. DO NOT SEND YOUR KID HERE.

Kids with ADHD get no special help at this school, in fact they are ridiculed because of it.

Posted: March 23, 2017

I'm laughing really hard because the other day the counselor pulled a girl out of class to tell her he thinks she should be a leader for eight grade (all 49 kids) because we are all making fun of our teachers and aides.

Posted: March 23, 2017

I have no respect for anyone, literally anyone. I learned it here :)

Posted: March 23, 2017

You can barely remember something you learned yesterday. They tell you one thing then yell at you for doing it.

Posted: March 23, 2017

They assign too much homework and most of it is just busy work.

Posted: January 10, 2017

Agree. School has zero tolerance to bullying and in 3 years I haven't heard of one incident.

Posted: January 10, 2017

Posted: January 10, 2017

Since day one Administration has been very helpful and easy to communicate to.

Posted: January 10, 2017

Totally agree. The school has zero tolerance towards bully and encourages an environment where everybody is respected.

Posted: January 10, 2017

In the 3 years my daughter has attended this school, all her teachers and aids have been wonderful and very approachable.

Posted: January 10, 2017

Our daughter brings homework but nothing that she can't handle.

Posted: January 10, 2017

Great school. Strong academic program. Our daughter has been in this school since 3rd grade and she loves it. The have several after-school clubs that allow the students to enrich their school day. My daughter attends French Club, Book Club, Computer Club. The environment is caring and since it is not a big school, pretty much everybody knows each other. It always makes me smile when I see how teachers and staff call my daughter by her name, which represents how personal is their school culture. Our daughter will start in middle school soon and we are very excited and looking forward to their middle school program.

Posted: September 9, 2016

The teachers are engaging and the curriculum is challenging. There are many clubs and sports at all grade levels. A well-rounded education.

Posted: December 2, 2015

the kids show no respect whatsoever. They just sit in the corner and read or sit on their computer

Posted: December 2, 2015

it takes me 5 hours to do all the homework and i still dont get it all done sometimes

Posted: December 2, 2015

no one at this miserable hell hole of a school is nice, the teachers dont care if the kids misbehave, the only nice teachers are Mr. Hicks , Mr. Cartledge, Mrs.Gabe, and Mrs. Bising

Posted: May 26, 2015

We had our children in another private school that sold itself and being the best academic program in Las Vegas, not true. Las Vegas Day School has a strong, traditional educational philosophy that has produced hundreds of successful students who excel in high school and college because they are challenged and given strong study skills during the fundamental years. This school is just quiet and humble about it.

I love my school. I have been a student at LVDS since preschool and it is fantastic. Cool teachers that care if you learn and understand. I will graduate this year but I don t want to leave.

Posted: March 3, 2015

I am currently a student attending the Middle School program, and I don't really like it. They make it so that no one has their own schedule, they just go to the same exact classes with the same exact people every day. It's basically elementary school inside of a hallway with less students and you alternate classes. Also, you have absolutely no freedom here. This is not a middle school it is a hallway. Whenever you have a question about the policies at the school, they answer it with a stupid excuse. There aren't any electives at the school so you are forced to take P.E., Spanish, and Art. The education may be good but they go out of their way to teach you things that you don't really need in life. They only put their focus to big sports like football and basketball while the rest are left to suffer. I have attended this school for a while now and it is good for elementary school education but if your child doesn't want to spend middle school suffering then take them out before then.

love my school! so happy ! I wish I can RE ATTEND school! so comforting when you walk in, and everyone is absolutely so caring....

Posted: October 3, 2014

This school is ABSOLUTELY amazing!!!! family owned, everyone personable, everyone cares, the administration is top-notch and I am so happy that I am here. What a blessing. great curriculum, and the teachers actually care about your child as if it were their own.

Posted: January 14, 2014

Fantastic school! I moved my child from a small faith based school to LVDS and couldn t be happier. Their focus is on academics versus religion. They are also big enough to have specialists to teach Spanish, music, art, PE and computer as well have numerous after school sports and clubs. It is more expensive but well worth it.

Posted: December 11, 2013

You don t know how great this school is until you try someplace else. We left for three months for another private school and came right back.

Posted: May 28, 2013

Great school overall. Our two boys attend (ages 5 and 7). The administration is involved and active, there are numerous school activities and the academics are first rate.

Posted: May 7, 2013

I toured and subsequently enrolled my child in Las Vegas Day School. The environment is warm, caring and compassionate starting with the Admissions Director to the teachers, aides and administration. As the school year went on and different issues naturally occurred all of my initial feelings were confirmed in a positive manner. Concerns or questions are answered promptly and the school is extremely fair with disciplinary and academic expectations despite being a very challenging program. Parents looking at private schools should tour those schools to really know what they are all about. At LVDS what you see and feel is what you get.

Posted: February 26, 2012

Make sure the teachers are certified. We found out the hard way When our daughter went to high school. She had to take health and a computer class over again because the LVDS teacher had no certification in those subjects. Coach Lair was one for Health. Ok for Gorman but not the ccsd. You would think with all the money we spent there and all the teachers layed off that LVDS could of solved this issue.
