Our first two children attended this school, in part because we are Lutheran and initially felt it would be a strong fit for our family. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We encountered concerns with favoritism and found the quality and consistency of teaching to be lacking. It was not the supportive or structured environment we had hoped for. Because of this, we chose a different path for our third child and enrolled him in the public school system. That experience has been overwhelmingly positive and a much better fit for our family.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend this school.

Traumatic.
I was initially going to write a long, detailed review of my personal experience here, but Id rather not dwell. I want to let the past be the past. Have the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

Funny how I only ended up having a real relationship with God after I left. This school made me believe in the devil.

Please take your children to public school. Yes, Nevada has one of the worst public school systems in the country. But some public schools are still better than this. And no matter where you send your child, being involved matters. A private school should never replace parenting. If youre worried about woke indoctrination

Just know:
Nothing protects kids from the so-called woke agenda like a $15,000-a-year chapel where the sermons preach love and the group chats preach racism, materialism, profanity, and n*des.

Nothing says spiritual purity like cliques, designer drugs, and designer backpacks with a side of passive-aggressive Bible study.

This is the place where love thy neighbor gets rewritten as judge, exclude, and vape in the cafeteria bathroom.

Totally understandable though. Who wouldnt want to raise their kid around curated bigotry and quiet substance abuse? Anything to avoid them learning empathy or critical thinking.

All it takes to succeed here is sucking up to teachers and quoting Bible verses in your essays. Or, if youre in honors, staying up until 2 a.m. every night doing pointless busywork and learning to tie your self-worth to exhaustion.

And God help your child if they have a disability, mental health issue, or learning difference. Youll be charged extra tuition for accommodations, if youre even lucky enough to get them. Meanwhile, neurodivergent students are laughed at. I once overheard a boy joke that a disabled girl was going to hell while his friend cackled beside him. No one corrected them. No one cared. This is just one of many incidents. Also, this school hates ethnic people/other minorities.

In public schools, counselors regularly offer safe spaces where kids can eat lunch, talk about home life, and plan for college with someone who listens. Here, most students rarely see a counselor. And when they do, not much gets discussed tbh.

Yes, bullying happens everywhere, but at least give your child the CHANCE to figure out how to navigate the REAL world, find the right group of friends, and receive basic support.

This school is everything they say theyre protecting your child from

I am actually shocked by some of these reviews. Ive had such a POSITIVE EXPERIENCE with both of my children at Faith. One has graduated and is in college and my other child is currently enrolled. I am a CCSD teacher and I would never want my children to attend a public HS school in Clark County- theres a reason they are ranked at the bottom. I feel like both of my children have received a top notch education that prepares them for college. The teachers have been very informative and professional. We love this school!

I was very disappointed in this school. My child attended 6-8 grades and found it to be not at all worth the money. The principals are so arrogant. Very unprofessional and actually dont know federal laws and violate kids rights thinking they can do anything since its private. The kids are very spoiled so you have to parent even harder and more for your child not to be sucked in by the eliteness here. The teachers arent bad but definitely
Not worth the price tag. The only good thing is the amount of sports they have to offer in middle school. Be careful how you spend your money, this middle school is definitely not worth it.

Faith Lutheran School, with its mission "Everyone Prepared, Everyone Saved," aims for academic and spiritual growth. However, concerns arise regarding poorly trained teachers, favoritism, severe drug problem that they hide, nepotism, and lack of true academic support. These issues make the school fall extremely short of its mission. Prospective families should consider these concerns before choosing Faith Lutheran.

Avoid at all costs, if this place is free, I would pass on this place. The administration is not friendly nor professional in my opinion and the kids are just numbers but if you're a donor family, you may just be in luck. A lot of the kids at this school are miserable but have no choice but to attend to please their parents and maintain their social status.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for Faith Lutheran's exceptional education and leadership. During our daughter's first two years at this school, she developed a chronic medical condition that impacted her grades. Despite this, the school has been extremely understanding and accommodating, providing the necessary support to help her succeed.

The school's teachers and counselors have been especially helpful, meeting with our daughter multiple times to discuss her needs and offer guidance and support. We are immensely grateful to Faith Lutheran and its nursing department, whose assistance has been indispensable during this time.

Safety is a top priority at Faith Lutheran, and we have no doubts that our children are in good hands. When our daughter had an issue with another student, the school administrators immediately investigated the matter thoroughly.

For parents who value a strong relationship with God, Faith Lutheran is the ideal school for their children. We are grateful for the support our daughter has received and highly recommend this school to any parent seeking a nurturing and supportive environment for their child.

I went to this school for freshman and sophomore year before transferring to a magnet school to graduate four years ago. I would never recommend anybody to send their children to this school. Faith Lutheran gave students little to no support in regards to academics, and though there are a handful of great teachers there, they also employ teachers who are overtly willing to humiliate their students in front of the class. They also require summer school for any students who get below a 70% in the class (which is alright, that is their policy) but I dont think it makes sense that I was failing for two years there without any assistance, then went to a straight A student after transferring to a magnet school. Bullying and harassment were also very prevalent on campus, whether it be against disabled students, LGBT students, or just regular students who differ in any way from the general student body. Teachers also partake in harassment against these students; and in my experience, harassment against LGBT students was an almost daily occurrence. I vividly remember having a history teacher who started his class venting about why he believed LGBT people were ruining the country today (like, arent we supposed to be learning about history?). I also had close friend at the school who was disabled and was severely bullied and harrassed throughout class and often, teachers targeted and punished her when she would talk back to her harassers or try to stick up for herself. There have also been instances of students being removed from classes and extracurriculars because of being LGBT, and their handbook in 2015 contained an entire segment on why being LGBT at the school was prohibited. The whole school has very discriminatory beliefs, bullying goes ignored, and students do not receive help for low grades. (I mean, they make money off of failing students having to engage in summer school.)

There really aren't enough terrible things to say about Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School. Not only do they allow the wealthy students to
torment, belittle, and scrutinize the "outcasts, but they encourage it. On the outside, Faith Lutheran seems like a cookie-cutter school trying to use
religion as a front for their greed. In reality, it is so much worse than that.

Faith Lutheran touts itself as a "college prep" institution and has the audacity to take credit for the success of students. While Faith Lutheran would have you believe that students are successful because of FLHS; I would argue that I am successful despite it. The lack of acceptance, fairness and Christ-like behavior at FLHS is disgusting.

Save your money by spending it literally anywhere else.

My child attended from 6 - 9 and only his 6th grade teacher gave a care about him. The other teachers could not care less. They did nothing about unruly students. If my kid was struggling in anything we werent notified until it was to late to remedy it, grade books were never updated. We pulled him out after 9th grade and he did online school and flourished. Just missed the free scholarship from the state because of one class at faith he was having trouble in but we were never notified about. Its very clicky and if you are an athlete or a brain then you are coddled if an average student well good luck to you.

I sent my child here hoping to get a quality middle school education for her, but this school is a joke. They just want your money, and trust me, it is A LOT in general, let alone compared to what they offer. That alone is enough to stay away but combine that with the worst principal and inexperienced and/or outdated teachers. Seriously, stay away from this school. You might as well take that money and invest it in a college education down the road. This school is not a college prep as they claim. Pass on it. The town has better to offer for free for the MS and HS years! This is the Spirit airlines of schools: Everything you might want is a lot extra, and the base fare is not worth the hassle. Lol!

We did not have a good experience at this school. We sent two of our children through Faith Lutheran and decided not to send our youngest due to the experiences we had including uncaring and arrogant staff, favoritism, lack of appropriate teaching styles and grading systems, drugs at the school, etc. It is a shame because this should be a good, safe, Christian school.

I had an 8th grader and a 9th grader in the 2021-2022 school year. We went in with very high hopes but transferred out mid-year. There were a few VERY good teachers, although not enough to justify the cost of the school. My children just did not do well there and began to thrive again as soon as we moved them to a more welcoming, friendly environment. I am sad that the school turned them more away from Christ than toward.

I could be so much more critical of this school and provide very specific examples of very specific people (teachers, coaches, and leadership) who I feel negatively impacted my children, but instead I am going to choose to be thankful that they are in a healthy environment that is better suited for their needs. This review is for those of you thinking about Faith for your children. The individuals (and there are just a few, but they made it bad enough that we could not tolerate), are not teachable, would not be receptive to feedback and could never accept that they in fact are they problem. I will say, there are some quality teachers otherwise.

This is a good school for the right student. The curriculum
Is strong and rigorous, the after school opportunities are many. The Bible is taught well. The school can do a lot better and should be doing better for atypical learners they need more resources contributed to this area so the staff is better equipped with knowledge and strategies and supported in teaching to a variety of student learners. The school does not currently support students with learning differences although they have programs which claim to do so.

This school misrepresents itself when it comes to helping children with learning challenges. Their marketing pulls you in and you dont find out until its too late that there are no accommodations in the classroom. I mean zero. They have a resource person that you have a period for that is like study hall. The kids can ask questions about their work at that time which is too late if you are completely confused. I have an A student who needs basic supports only. She developed panics from a certain science teacher who she saw bully students. The principal and the resource room teacher are also unempathetic bullies. Ive never been treated like that before in a school meeting. See the other reviews and you see the same pattern. We left for Henderson International, a caring school where my daughter was happy again and thriving.

If you love your child and can also recognise a bad monetary investment when you see one, then youll avoid this place like the plague.

Otherwise, expect for staff to bully literal children and attempt to also bully you, the parent, if you attempt to get involved. Christian values are thrown out the window with seemingly little thought, or perhaps too much thought from critically incapable people. Rarely did I witness true kindness amongst anyone that isnt at the schools front desks in the office.

The rest lack tact and any of the values they plaster all over their walls. The only disabilities they can at least adequately support are those that are covered by the Mark 10:14 program, which is one of the only good things about this school. If your kid is disabled in any other way, however, or god forbid LGBT, its likely they will be degraded, humiliated, and cast aside. That is, of course, unless you can afford to pay your way up the ladder.

I was publicly humiliated multiple times at this school for being mentally disabled. They accused me of lying repeatedly about my disorders, despite having given repeated proof from doctors and psychiatrists, and offered no support.

You will see other reviews say similar things. They made sure disabled individuals were up front and centre for all to see and laugh at, and I was one of them.

I have memories of begging multiple teachers for mercy, asking them to please just let me be, the stress of this often making my physically ill to the point of on-campus vomiting and hair loss. It was traumatising alongside the horrific things I was enduring outside of school. For many of us, school was meant to be the only place we could be safe. Faith Lutheran failed in all aspects of that for me, and I truly feel it contributed to the state Im in today, just a few years after graduating.

I moved my daughter from Las Vegas Day School (LVDS) to this school. This is by far the best school ever. Unlike LVDS, Faith Lutheranl cares most about learning of its students. My daughter is very happy and she now learns the proper way. The tuition fees worth every penny. Both teachers and staffs alike have students in their mind. They care less about profits since this school is not owned by a family. Their students safety and health are their priority. They ensure CDC health protocol is followed. The curriculum is top notch!

I think this is my favorite part about the school, which is how it develops children to be better, to be kind to one another, to think about their actions/consequences, to have empathy for people, to not feel entitle but to be thankful, to give thanks to our blessings, to help one another, to have integrity for everything they do, to be humble and courageous for truth. Most of the students are courteous and respectful even when adults are not around.

They have a program for special education. They involve children with special needs in sports, art, presentation, choir, I mean anything you can imagine. Students treatment nice and often have buddies company them at various events, so they are not along. They really bring so much smile and pride out of the special needs children. They feel important and valued by the teachers and student peers. Very warming to the soul to watch.

My son had experienced bullying in the very beginning year of 6th grade (from a couple kids who are like class clowns). We didn't noticed it, it was brought to light by the MS vice principal. MS vice principal and 6th grade counselor Dr. Karl immediately investigated and talked to each child and got it under control very very quickly. They handled it professionally. We have not experienced anymore bullying behavior from these kids again. I rarely heard of any bullying incidents by the time when kids get into 7th and 8th grade. The school take this topic seriously, try to be proactive and educate kids as often as they can. So by the time of 7th and 8th grade you don't hear things like this anymore.

I have 2 children at this school. Every staff and teacher I meet are courteous and genuinely care for the well being of the children. They encourage all students to do well and be awesome. They teach children to be independent learners. They are quick to tackle problems/issues. You can always see the principal in all kinds of events at all hours. They really do care (I can't even make it to all the events sometimes). Lots of clubs and after school activities to engage in and have a healthy social environment. Everyone is encouraging and kind. They do have a few bad apples from time to time. They generally give the students opportunities to make improvements themselves and give them second chance. But if the students or the parents are bitter or unwilling to stick to the same policy ever other student has to comply, they are not afraid to serve consequences and punishments for the bad behavior. Trouble makers would have a hard time sticking around and causing issues. Overall, this is an excellent school for academic, sports competitions, fine art/music development, STEM courses (MS & HS), leadership development, spiritual growth, and a healthy social environment for teens. I am thankful daily that my children goes to Faith Lutheran and are excelling in academic and personal growth on a daily basis!

Teachers largely seem very inexperienced. It seems to be a landing pad for great teachers moving on to better gigs, inexperienced teachers that have nowhere else to do, or rejected teachers running away from somewhere else. Definitely no culture of excellence.

If parents finally figure out how much they are really paying for over their students to go to a mediocre school with over crowded classrooms Im sure these guys will all be tossed out on the street instantly...

Management is very condescending. Any issue raised will get a polite email or two in response and then no matter how small the issue is or whether it involves the high school or not, the high school principal will step in and tell you to suck it up or withdraw your student. Essentially that I their entire operating philosophy. They require a blank check when you register and any time they want more money, they just take it. Last year they decided to sign up for a dial- in tutoring program whether students planned on using it or not. No notice was sent to parents. It wasnt in the contract. No permission was given. Money just started getting withdrawn from our bank accounts each month for it. These guys are extremely arrogant about it. During MS orientation the middle school principal got up and said that middle school camp would be added on to tuition and not to worry, she would just withdraw the money from our accounts when she was ready. She wasnt sure how much it would be exactly but if she needed more than X she would just add it on. No thought at all that she should be asking for permission before taking money directly from our bank accounts and especially before she decided to take more than she even announced. They are very unlike other schools in the area. The tuition is not the amount you pay. They have exorbitant activity fees, registration fees, their lunches are $8-10 for basic cafeteria food, classes are crowded, teachers are largely green with very little experience, biology books are photo copies of anything they can find that avoids religious entanglement, few students move on to even mid tier universities. This is the Walmart of Las Vegas private schools. Its a place to send your mediocre student with mediocre dreams.

Dont expect this school to go out of its way if your child is struggling with a subject. The middle school principal will be more than happy to make you and your child feel unwelcomed. Im certain that the other private parochial school, Bishop Gorman, has gain quite a few incoming freshman to their campus due to the antics within the leadership of the middle school.

Wished I had read the reviews reference the middle school principal prior to enrolling. Its her way, or its the highway. Unless of course you have money. My child was not a discipline issue, but encountered health issues. These issues along with the medication she was taking affected her cognitive function. My child was passing with Bs and Cs with the exception of math. When we had a meeting with she and the counselor, she told us we should consider going to another school. So much for that Christian Values they advertise!

My child felt bullied by both the staff and the other students. If you have enough money your child can do no wrong but if you dont then it feels as if they look for a reason to pick on them. They have meetings with 5 or 6 staff members to discuss your child and i have no idea why im there and all of them sit there with laptops typing while speaking to you and they all seem to gang up at the same time with no way to even defend yourself or your child. It is more like on t.v. in a courtroom in front of a jury and they all pick you apart. Its sad because i thought i this was a school with christian values.

For example they give homework for math but the teacher gives the answers online on moodle and they dont check for accuracy only for completion. So they get good grades for either work that is wrong or that they didnt do themselves.

My child spent all of 6th grade alone and the middle school counselors and principal told me that she was the problem and didn't want to hear it when i told them how the other kids teased her and made fun of her. She struggled socially and academically and instead of admin offering help they basically put her down repeatedly. They have zero compassion and no Christian values unless you have money and donate quite a bit to their school. They play favorites and have torn my childs self esteem to shreds.

This school definitely have alot of well off families but we aren't one of it...we actually have some financial help from the school to go here...the high principal Mr. FOGO and the whole office staff has help us walk us thru all the necessary steps to enroll..my sixth grader and high school freshmen loves the school and looks forward to going to school....the staff encourages the students to be involved in school activities...the won't force you to but the kid and parents have to make an effort....my freshmen started his own computer club and my sixth grader is in the robotic club...they're having a blast...so it's not all about sports at this school...there is something for everyone...my freshmen is on course to graduate a year ahead but I encouraged him to enjoy being a kid in high school...I definitely recommend this school if you're motivated as a student and parent to be involved..

My child finally confided in me that he felt like a total failure at Faith. Teachers were mean, arrogant, inconsistent, bullies, humiliated students and were lacking professionalism. Senior year my child went to public school and wants nothing more to do with an educational institution because of Faith.

The middle school principal uses intimidation and fear to force her agenda on students and parents. Once in her "crosshairs" she will bully your child. She has done a fine job of souring the spirituality of my child with her unchristian and downright mean degrading remarks. I would think that someone in this position that has the responsibility to lead both faculty and students would remember that this school was founded on Christian principals of service to God, family, and your fellowman. I feel that this school has lost its original path, and in order to get it back on the right track, it can start by reassigning the middle school principal. She does not need to be in a leadership role. With that being said, the Asst. Principal showed kindness and compassion and acted like he truly cared about the kids.

There were some good moments, and there are some outstanding teachers. But of course there were some terrible once too. Very unimpressed with the math department. My child was spending 80 hrs on math monthly to include not only her regular class time but also tutoring. The teacher would markher answers wrong if she answered X=2, and not 2=X. At the end of the quarter she had a 59.75 and she refused to give her a quarter point to give her a D. Principal of the middle school is a bully and uses fear and intimidation as her leadership style. I should congratulate her on tarnishing the spirituality of my child. I have to admit it certainly has affected mine, and my feelings toward the Lutheran church. But I will continue to attend church because our faith in God and belief that Jesus is our savior will never falter. We, along with several other families left this school because of the middle school principal. She certainly needs to be placed in a non-leadership position.

We have had a wonderful middle school experience. After being at a morally bankrupt school filled with strong education and no balance for the child, we stumbled upon Faith. What a difference, still strong expectations but disabling not punishment. Much different values here then we have seen anywhere else in the valley. We are sold.

With the exception of one of my sons teachers so far, he has had a very good experience with them. He came from a public MS and has excelled academically. He has close to the top of his class in MS and continues to be so in HS.

Not sure if it develops strong character in its students or if the ones with it just shine. My son is a young man of character, very respectful and full of integrity. The school didn't make him like that but the smaller school size and the Lutheran values have helped preserve that.

We have had NO PROBLEM at all with leadership here. The admin staff is amazing. The counselors, Mr. Dan Buikema in particular, are amazing and better than any college counselor I have ever had. My son is in the Honors Institute program and has tons of guidance and will be better prepared for college because of it.

Its not the school, more the sports programs. Some teams elect captains based on popularity, which doesn't work. In my son's experience one of the teams captains was the biggest bully. To allow team captains to be picked based on popularity is asking for trouble. I let my son deal with it, as I did as a kid and he weathered the storm. I believe it helps build a stronger young man or woman. Dealing with bullies helps prepare you for the real world. Our society is so worried about bullying that they don't look at the real problem, Social Media. Take away social media and you wont have 90% of the problems associated with "todays" bullying crisis.

I think this school is amazing. Smaller class sizes and in general, kids that like to learn help this school lead in academics. There are kids that go to this school that have horrible grades, but that's because for the parents its a prestigious thing . My son feels comfortable here and well challenged. He loves the smaller school feel with about 280 kids in his Class. Which is amazing since the public school, Centennial High School, he was supposed to attend has over 1000 kids in the same class. Education in the STEM programs and other academies here are outstanding. There are more opportunities in this school that kids can take advantage of. All of the staff and parents I have met have been very welcoming. Unlike some families at this school, we struggle to pay for it, but its money well spent!

Despite what some people say... there is as lot of homework. My son has a 4.06 GPA and its because he does the homework. Its not just busy work, its work that prepares you to do well. Students that say there isn't a lot of homework... just don't do what they are required to do.

This is a real weakness of the school environment, where the students are shepherded to be all the same (almost like robots). There is little path to learn differently.

I think there is a general lack of leadership, due to what appears to be confusion as to who is in charge and what aspects each person feels like they have authority.

Some of them may be effective, but two of the three teachers my son had were not. They did not focus on students as a priority. They failed to mention my son was wondering out the window with a lack of focus (until I inquired). This is just one example, in which managing the classroom environment and student learning was sub-par. All communication had to be initiated by the parent.

The homework is excessive and requires re-teaching as the ultimate objective. Homework, in my opinions, should be the completion or practice of theories already initiated in class learning.

We just experienced one year at this school, and it did not meet our expectation of a positive academic environment. The administrators aren't clear on guidelines for uniforms and behavior for some students as to others. They make arbitrary, subjective decisions in counseling and advising students and parents. The classroom learning dynamic is limited to facilitating of textbook learning instead of actual teaching. As an educator myself, I spent well over 2 hours re-teaching my son each night. The Christian ideals of service and modeling faithful behavior, in my opinion, are not a philosophy adhered to by many at FLS. In fact, I found the culture to be snobbish, hypocritical, and a place in which where favoritism and denial of Christian standards fairly prevalent. If you are looking for a school with student education its highest priority, and not simply giving tons of homework for the evening, then this is not the school for you. Their learning system, Moodle, is not actively used by all teachers, also causing a lack of communication from teacher to student and parent.

I have 2 children at Faith Lutheran. One just started middle school and the other one entered in middle school and is now a junior in High School. I'm sure Faith has it's share of cliques and mean kids as any other school, after all kids are kids. The teachers, counselors and staff are always available and actively promote anti-bullying campaigns, host guest speakers for the kids and parents re: the dangers of social media and are very accessible to students and parents alike. Private schools are non-profit so they do not receive any grants from the government, so they do host fund raisers and clubs will ask for donations, but I have never felt pressured nor obligated to make a contribution. In addition to that, a lot of the fund raising is for students on financial aid so they can attend Faith. In my experience, I have found Faith exceptional with their very hands on counselors. All the information I receive from my son's counselor regarding college preparation (which started in 9th grade) to college application is worth it's weight in gold. A working mom such as myself, does not have a lot of time to socialize with other peer parents to get this kind of information. My son will graduate from Faith next year, and my daughter will finish her middle school and high school at Faith. I would highly recommend Faith to any parent!
