This school is amazing and has a lot of potential for greatness. The kids learn a lot from this school and it has a very good teaching community with all the teachers being very nice, kind and smart being able to teach the stuendents very well. Also Mrs. Mcumber, the Pre-Ap geometry and stats teacher is very nice, kind and smart being able to help many students in a variety of ways being an amazing teacher.

Wow! I dont even know where to start. The school is appalling. You cant get a hold of anybody when you need them. The teachers are subpar, and the culture there is getting worse. Ive had nothing but a giant headache from the school and Im incredibly disappointed.

you get denied food if you are late to lunch (you get 4 minutes) and you get detention if you are a second late, same punishment as going to one second of class

10/10 DO NOT recommend this school. When a child comes to school, they should be excited to learn but no, not here. The school curriculum is just awful here, the way the teachers teach is unsuitable, giving videos to watch that don't make sense instead of doing your job and teaching properly? Does that sound great? Not at all, it makes it extremely hard to learn and get good grades. The kids that go to this school are also not great at all, misbehaved and rude, straight up. Also, I know I don't work in the school district but I know when you go to school you should have some creativity involved within all the sheets of math homework, informative writing assignments and science projects. Some kids are able to learn quicker and more efficient than others which is great, that's how life is going to be but, the school doesn't make it manageable for people who have a little bit of a challenge picking up concepts faster. For example, they misplaced me in all the wrong classes that were way to advanced for me, so I had to switch out, which is fine, but even after that the teachers classes I switched into get really frustrated when the kids they're teaching can't understand what they are explaining, if that's the case they shouldn't have that job, it's clear that they don't enjoy it. The school needs to hire better teachers. All in all, when considering a middle school to send your kid/kids to in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sig Rogich shouldn't be your first option.

My experience with Sig Rogich Middle School has been incredibly upsetting, and I feel obligated to warn others. This school has serious issues with professionalism, fairness, and inclusivity.
One of the most disturbing patterns I witnessed was how certain staff members consistently found reasons to pick on specific students, especially students of color. Minor issues were exaggerated or unfairly punished, while similar behavior from others was overlooked. This kind of targeting was not only demoralizing but deeply harmful to students self-esteem and sense of safety.
To make matters worse, racist behavior by staff was either brushed aside or completely ignored by administration. Instead of addressing complaints seriously, the school often made excuses or shifted blame. There was no accountability, and the culture allowed these injustices to continue.
The lack of empathy, fairness, and support from both teachers and leadership has made this environment toxic. No student should feel singled out, unsafe, or unwelcome at school.
I strongly advise parents to look elsewhere if they value equity, respect, and their childs well-being.

I have had 4 children attend Rogich. MY experience, over the past 11 years, has been positive.
PROS: The principal is compassionate and cares about the students, but also has high expectations of students. Every event I have attended, I have seen her there, her dedication is obvious.
The school offers a large range of after school activities and clubs for the students.
I have had a good experience with MOST of the teachers.
I have always had a good experience with the office staff. They are friendly and always try to help however they can.
The counselors for my children have always been caring and helpful.
Anything I have had to talk to the school about has been attended to immediately.
CONS: The school is getting over crowded because of Summerlin's growth, and no new Middle School is being built anytime soon.

This school is better that I had anticipated. My son has an amazing math and band teacher and is thriving at this school. He has not had any issues with other students picking on him or bullying him. The other parents are involved. My son is in the accelerated classes and DOES get a lot of homework, however, this is to be expected; I am glad he is being challenged. Compared to my older 3 children that attended local private schools, my son at Rogich is getting a comparable education in math, english and science with the accelerated program (although the grading system is easier much easier). We also have not noticed the same drug, favoritism , and staff arrogance issues experienced at the private schools. The downsides to Rogich are overcrowding, less organization than the private schools, and less teacher communication; the infinite campus student parent portal is lacking compared to the portal at the private school.

My time at this school was terrible. They don't help the students, they don't see all angles of a story, and pick favorites. If I were a parent I would NEVER send my kid to this school.
Posted: November 27, 2020
My biggest mistake was putting my child in this school. The teachers are disorganized and unhelpful. There are no communications between teachers and parents. One particular teacher tells students to figure out their mistakes instead of correcting/commenting on their papers. Horrible experience overall!!

Inconsistent with homework - sometimes a lot, sometimes none. and yes, that one math teacher is a nut with her expectations of homework. Thankfully my child can deal with it but my older child would have failed her class for sure.

nothing special in this department. There is no program or assemblies or anything that I am aware of.
Posted: November 30, 2017
The principal should move on - she is clearly ready to retire and the school needs new energy and someone who is invested and not just riding out her career. She is not friendly, stand offish and communicates absolutely nothing.

I know there are lots of issues with this. Kids are mean and administration tries but I don't think there is much of an effect. Mean kids don't suddenly become nice.
Posted: November 30, 2017
I was honestly hoping for more for my kids. There is so little communication, little school spirit, etc. I think academics are good but the classes are so overcrowded. Summerlin needs more schools and somehow the great masterplan didn't get that part right. There seems to be no end to how many kids are let in the school doors. I feel like the administrators barely keep up.

Not well. I had many issues at this school when I attended. I felt pressured at everything and had been bullied multiple times. Every time I went to the counselor, they would bring the bully up and say I was the one who told on them. The bully would then come up to me and get in my face and say "Why did you say something". Me being bullied before hand, I was terrified and I said I never said anything. I had been told if I needed help, I could go to the staff and they would help me. They didn't at all. I felt like I was trapped in a prison, forced to deal with bullies and rude teachers that expected me to do things a certain way. I was once excited to go to this school, now I hate it and never wish to return. I am afraid to ask anyone for help and feel trapped when someone talks to me because I'm afraid of being yelled at or bullied. But this is how I feel, other students or adults may not feel the way I do and thats okay but I wanted to get my story out there.

As a student, not being biased or anything, but this school is fantastic. The teachers are nice (except one particular math teacher), along with the staff - ones I've met are in no way hesitant in trying to improve their students' learning experience at Sig Rogich Middle School. I so far have not experienced any bullying, nor people I know, despite being a little weird. I have had so much fun at this school. I recommend children to come to this school to celebrate this awesome learning experience. Every day is a unique surprise at Sig Rogich Middle School.

So far, NO GOOD. I have a child coming in as a new student. After several attempts to reach the principal to discuss my new student's transition, she got back to me ZERO times. I felt I had to corner her in order to meet her. When I finally did, she was unfriendly and made us feel like she couldn't be bothered. The student orientation was an absolute DISASTER. How could the school be that unprepared for an event that included at least 1000 kids? The year hasn't even started yet and I am getting very bad vibes. I'll update my review after the school year actually starts. Fingers crossed, my child likes this place. I am highly disappointed so far. This school is supposed to be one of the best. I am yet to see THAT!

My son just started to attend this school,I had a chance to meet all his teachers,I know he will develope in all subjects,I am pleased to realize that this is a serious school and gives enough knowkedge to go on to a great high school.

Teachers are amazing; and although we do get alot of work, we have fun too. (8th grade picnic, swimming in PE, dances); however, I do believe some of the staff (not the teachers) have issues. They let the power get to them, and get you in trouble for dumbest reasons (VICE PRINCIPAL *COUGH*) Also, some classes are overflowing with students as people are moving over to this area due to how good the education here is. For the most part, there really isn't an issue with the school. People barely get bullied, everyone has friends and fits in with there group and school is clean. I was glad I had 3 years at this school, and hope West will also do me good. Definitely recommend this school, -- Anonymous

Overall good school but it would help if the school district hired crossing guards before and after school. Parents need to slow down when driving, be aware and patient of kids crossing the street.

great school, no bullying. my 7th grader couldn't be happier. staff is great. keep up good work.

I love this school. The principle is amazing. Just the other day she did the ice bucket challenge and the whole school was working on getting donations to donate to ALS. Most of the staff is great but quite a few of them are the meanest people I know. They just yell at you and don't want to listen to what you have to say cause your "only a kid". Other than that I love all of my teachers. They are the best. I love rogich.
Posted: August 28, 2014
A couple of the teachers are great but a few of them are bullies. My English teacher poked fun of me in class and I felt so awkward. She kept doing this throughout the year. I dreaded going to school because of it and I am not returning this school year. My grades dropped as the year went on as I really couldn't concentrate on my classes due to my feeling of hopelessness.

This school is a great school. I am so pleased with my daughter progress . The staff are very friendly too
Posted: April 16, 2014
Though some of my teachers are some of the best teachers I've ever had, I have learned little to nothing new this year. I actually got suspended simply because I cut a corner on a basketball court before the game began and because the vice principal had let the power go to his head, he suspended me because he wished it. I am an all A and B student with straight accelerated classes and Algebra I. There was one time where I was looking forward to school and to absorb the knowledge...Now, I feel as if it doesn't matter anymore. As for the bullying in the school, I have been harassed more by the staff than the students themselves. despite my many attempts to stop them, i merely get punished instead. And even though both my mother and myself have spoken to them about the theory of skipping for me due to my practically falling asleep in class, they slammed the door of opportunity in our faces. I have never even been tested for it. This school was one of the worst schools i have ever attended and caused me more mental abuse than i ever thought possible. I'm glad i'm leaving next year.

I am a student and I love this school it is great. Yes there are a lot of kids but most are really cool. I came from a private school for the last 8 years and I like this so much better. My other school was rigid and we had less students but more bullying at the private school. I really love this school and most of the teachers.

Rogich was mostly a great school, but there was a big bullying problem and some of the staff didn't really care about what their students were learning or what was going on in the classroom. The electives are fantastic and there are some really good teachers there, some of which are still my favorite teachers to this day. But the bulling and ignorant teachers is ridiculous.

school hasn't started yet and we are recent transplants from New York. What I have seen so far at Sig Rogich has been impressive. Thorough, caring staff with great attention to detail. My 12 yr old daughter feels more than comfortable going to a new school in a new state just because of the greeting she got at orientation. Even thought there was a paperwork snafu and her packet wasn't ready she was able to tour the school and get all the info needed. Again i was impressed and the paperwork problem was easily fixed.
