Damonte Ranch is an incredibly well-run school, arguably one of the best, if not the best, in the area. It consistently leads the district in dual-credit college course enrollment, and while I was there, I felt just how strongly the school promoted these opportunities. Many of my peers are heading to the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) already classified as second-year sophomores because of the college credits they earned through Damonte. I even know students who transferred from other high schools specifically for Damonte's dual-credit program. I felt very safe at Damonte Ranch, and me and my peers never felt that we were unsafe. I think admin handle discipline here well. Damonte also has great incentives for keeping good attendance, and it wasn't a stressful environment.

Damonte also provides strong academic support, particularly in math and science. Damonte has its own detailed math website, complete with in-depth solutions, curriculum guides, and video lessonsa lifesaver if you miss class or need extra help. The tutoring resources are robust and accessible.

The teachers are highly qualified, and AP pass rates are well above the national average. But what makes Damonte special isnt just the academics, it's the way the school ensures everyone can participate. Whether its advanced classes, electives, or extracurriculars, Damonte provides resources/scholarships so that cost isnt a barrier for students.

Damonte is also one of the more diverse schools in the district and truly reflects the community it serves. While you would expect students from wealthier neighborhoods would be divded alongside those from lower-income areas, and there is a little, theres a strong sense of unity, and students from all backgrounds get along well.

Administrators are responsive and genuinely willing to support students. The overall environment is collaborative and encouraging, which stands in stark contrast to other high schools where I've heard of toxic competition. At Damonte, students support one another.

Personally, attending Damonte was one of the best decisions for my growth. The courses, culture, and support systems make it an outstanding choice. The campus itself is large, modern, with lots of room (built for 2,300 students, but currently serving around 1,700), which creates a comfortable learning environment. Teachers have told me this is their favorite school to work at, and I understand why.

Damonte Ranch isnt just a high school, it's been a launchpad.

Our experience has been amazing with this school. Weve not been to a school with out kid that has had the support systems in place for learning challenges like Damonte has. We get regular communication from teachers and its awesome to see the principle so engaged with students. Every morning he is outside greeting every student.

This school is very mentally draining with the way its being run and the fact that some of the admin use their white privileges over people of color so that can win any argument.

Our daughter attended the 2022/23 school year. She's an A student who gets along with everyone, plays several sports and is very likable. However, she doesn't take any flack. Here's what we experienced:

1. Most faculty staff are liberals pushing their agenda on the students. If your student disagrees, prepare for war. We went to war several times and won. Not without retaliation, either. The current Principal is less than effective.
2. The school is not safe for the kids. There are many unguarded points of entry. I brought that up to the staff several times over the year! After the last school shooting threat, they put an old man at the front of the school with a clip board. They have one cop patrolling the area who spends more time in the car texting than patrolling the school. Also, our daughter's life was threatened. The school did NOTHING about it. NOTHING. They chalked it up to "hearsay" even with witnesses because the boy who threatened her denied it.
3. Volleyball coaches are the "participation trophy" type who don't care if they lose. Waste of time. Basketball was far more productive. Track was good, too.
4. Lots of drugs on campus. The bathrooms are havens for drugs and vapes. Principal did nothing about it all year, even several of us brought it to his attention.
5. Handicap parking is for parents who don't want to follow the rules. The cops do nothing about it.

We had a few lockdowns this past year. Parents are not informed until after the incident via email. We were told by the office staff that it's not their responsibility to notify the parents. We were told "Kids have phones. You'll hear from them directly."

We got her a variance to another school for the remainder of her HS years. Avoid DRHS.

Moved from Southern California and this school is soooo much better than the schools in CA. The academics are much higher. They have more activities and sports. The education and teachers are high quality. I am so glad we moved to this area!

I have a 2018 graduate and currently a Junior. Bothe kids hate their school experience at DAMONTE Ranch. The administrators are bullies and only seem interested in their punishment games. Especially the golf cart squad.

The teachers are openly liberal and push their views on students. They are openly hostile toward our current President. Instead of demonstrating both sides of an argument, they demonize any student that does not agree with the teachers liberal agenda.

Just very fake in how we were treated. Reporting was a waste of time and actually seemed to make things worse for our student and how they are treated.

I know someone who's student is struggling but not sure if they ever got help they needed. They just seemed to want to force that student out.

They do not reply in writing if you report something. They did not seem to take seriously our reports of a teacher bullying and problem with volunteer. I wish we had just reported to Safe-voice instead. To the student who was bullied by a teacher. Report it to safevoice they will investigate. Be very careful in who you trust at this School as they may try to cover up what you report.

Bad. Its a modern new School but very cold and interactions with staff have been very odd. Staff have been rude and strange manipulations that go on.

They seem to overload with homework. Sometimes no notice of quizzes. Too much reliant on Edmundo instead of telling students face to face about quizzes or homework.

Since my student has been lied to by staff who don't seem to support good ethics I do not agree. There may be teachers that do support Integrity.

A teacher had bullied me a few weeks ago (I'm a junior.) She has the capability to give me my final early before I move schools, she refused. The administration said they could transfer my finals to my new school, but they don't want to. "It takes time out of our day." The teacher as mentioned , had been telling other students how I made them mad . I refused to go to school for a week because I saw that teacher, and it was too late to switch out. The office didnt do anything whatsoever. The teachers are bullies, I do NOT recommend to any student.

The problem with a school for the performing arts is that it comes at the cost of everything else. The school has 2 great teachers, Mrs McKibbon for English and Mr Rosenfeld for Ceramics. Excellent caring teachers. Unfortunately, the rest of the school doesn't keep up. My son is moderately intelligent (IQ testing around 120) but in special ed for autism. The solution to any behavioral issues seems to be to pull the student from class and park them in an SSTS class. In March, I told the special ed team that I did not see my son on a path to graduation. I was ignored. At the end of 9th grade, he had credit for 1 year of English, 1 year of ceramics, and 1 semester of Biology. We moved him to Northstar, where he is keeping up with his classes and getting good grades, but unless he takes at least 2 extra classes each year, he will need a 5th year of highschool to have the classes he needs for the Millenium Scholarship and college. I think tht Damonte, ignoing his stated goals of advanced education in the environmental field, simply intended to give him a "special" diploma when he wants and is fully capable of earning an Advanced diploma.

Damonte Ranch has great teachers and a loving staff. They go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the kids succeed. My son Tevin loves this school and so do I!!!

I am not impressed with this school, The teachers are obviously very one sided and present their own political views. A new school so looks nice but education and support of parents is extremely questionable. The principal, vice principal and counselors do not work well with the parents. My oldest daughter attended this school but I definitely will not send my youngest. Seeking other options right now.

I attended Damonte Ranch the first semester of my freshman year and really just found the place to be nothing more than mediocre. The teachers are overwhelmed with students and often have trouble controlling the class. I took honors courses and all of my classes had anywhere from 30 to 40 students. The school also has too much invested in their athletes. For example, all football players were in honors level classes. and a good portion just contributed to the chaos. Furthermore, I know that the education here is subpar regardless of what they tell you. I've moved around the country my entire life and Damonte doesn't teach what the other high schools do. For example, we spent two months in an honors english class memorizing "words commonly confused". These words include all ready vs. already as well as to vs. too, ect. Overall however, I don't think it's fair to blame all of this on the school it was the kids not caring or applying themselves too. Overall, Damonte has friendly kids and nice teachers class time is mostly spent handling obnoxious kids or reviewing elementary concepts. Scholars, stay away.

Damonte is a good school, I had graduated with the class of 2011 and had been there since 8th grade. All the teachers for the most part were really good teachers, they expected you to try and work for the grade that you earn, if you need extra help they have IC time to go to your class for help, also there was always the counseling office that would help to figuring out problems that I came across. There were also a lot of tutoring sessions available to the students that needed help, and the information and sign up was found through the councilors. Through experience the more involved my parents were with my high school career by calling my counselor if they had questions about what was going on it helped the administration to see who really wanted to be there to learn and who was being there because they had to. Use the resources that this school has available, I mean there is a Career Center for a reason. The CC became my best friend my senior year, also realize that they more respectful that the students are to the teachers the less likely they are to be kicked out. This includes being prepared for binder checks, and any other assignments.

I really, really want this school to go back to the way it was! It was the most perfect school and I loved it but now I'm not loving it so much and everyone and I mean everyone, says that they can't wait to leave this school. Is this what you want us students thinking of Damonte? Please Damonte, just do something good again. I really miss the way the school used to be :( And again... help us succeed and not push us down with all the new USELESS rules. I can tell you, they are not helping us, you don't need to be mean and rude to students and parents to make us do what you want... The staff needs to grow up and BE RESPONSIBLE. Educate, empower, inspire is our motto... sure were being educated but were are most certainly not empowered and what is there to be inspired by? Absolutely nothing.
