My daughter is currently in 2nd grade and has been bullied by 2 kids in her class. She has been hit, kicked and also threatened with scissors to cut her hair. I have reported every time she has been assaulted and still nothing is being done. The teacher is not qualified in any way to deal with kids. If I were able to not have her attend this school I would never have stepped foot on this campus.

The administration at this elementary school is horrid. I’m so sick of the way the teachers and staff and especially the parents, and how they treat everyone else around them who are more than welcome to be apart of this community. No one should be discriminated no one should be feeling like an outcast or out of place because they’re different or have a hard time learning new things . My little brother has autism and kids make fun of him for being different. The parents of these bullies are a great contribution to the behavior of their children. Entitled rude and disgusting behavior. There’s zero common courtesy , no one helps with any questions that I have and they’re disrespectful when my siblings have to be picked up slightly later than usual because they’d rather go home than make sure kids are safe and don’t make sure their well being is taken care of over all. And it’s not like my mother doesn’t call in advanced when there is an emergency, they know ahead of time and they just be mad because it’s an inconvenience to them closing the front office where children should feel safe. The staff are SO rude. I just really dislike the environment of this school. It’s a great school and they learn a lot of great things great programs. but the manners and overall attitude of the administrators should be checked immediately. I’m so sick and tired of people mistreating hard working parents and guardians when we’re trying the best we can too. Everyone knows when it rains in Vegas it POURS. So the streets flood, guess they expect everyone to have a freaking motor boat to pick our kids up on time when it doesn’t work like that. Things happen emergencies happen, kids get out of school right at rush hour! The organization of pickup for car riders is unacceptable. There’s buses rude kids rude parents no organization whatsoever, it’s hectic and hard to get out of the school zone because everyone thinks they’re entitled to go before everyone, and take up 3 car spaces so no one can park and get their kids. Parents and children don’t say excuse me me or use their manners when they’re in peoples way to walk, it’s all disrespectfully overlooked. If I lived in another district I would send them elsewhere but this is our only option right now and they love this school they’re just kids they don’t understand the meaning of mistreatment. Please fix the attitudes and over all environment of this establishment. It’s unsatisfying and unacceptable to everyone involved.

Safety is not they're priority when it comes to the kids. They need to shut this school down.

I love it at Hummel! Everyone is respectful, kind, and the kids are always doing engaging and effective classwork.

My experience with the teachers and office staff of this school where my kindergartener attended, was beyond anything I have ever experienced before and especially since, the office ladies at this school are the most amazing women I have come across!!!!!!! Ms. Debbie is just wonderful!!!

Another great year for my son who just finished 2nd grade with Ms Santilli. The school has been extremely supportive throughout the last 3 years and he is having a blast and improving every day.

This is my sons last year of elementary school at John R Hummel I have faith that this is the best choice of school for him because it was the best choice of school for my daughter who is now in middle school excelling academically. SHe is in the Junior Honors Society and doing well in all of her classes so far and that is because she got a really good headstart at John R Hummel. This school has a great curriculum which gives the students the ability to learn well and excel in everything they do in school, at home and in their social surroundings. They incorporate a safe and healthy environment for their students to come to and learn. Their events are so well organized and makes it a memorable for every students that come and go. I highly recommend John R Hummel for every parent to enroll their students to.

Before the end of last school year I would have rated Hummel five stars. Mr. Darrington, the principal since Hummel opened, left and the new principal seemed too preoccupied with "something" to be visible or friendly. The teacher morale seemed to drop. Mr. Darrington was visible, greeting students at the door every morning and saying good bye at the door every afternoon. He was also in the lunchroom, interacting with students, every day. My kids miss him and don't understand why he is no longer there. Many teachers have chosen to leave. It makes me sad that a school that had such a personal touch has turned into an impersonal, sad place. Sending my children to school where I knew they were loved and cared for by both administration and staff made a big difference. It will be interesting to see what happens during the 2014-2015 school year. Fingers crossed. My children have always looked forward to going back to school. Not this year.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL FOR MY KIDS , THE TEACHERS THAT THEY'VE HAD ARE EXCELLENT AND VERY CARING AND THEY COMMUNICATE EVERYTHING WITH ME, AS A PARENT WE ALSO HAVE TO BE INVOLVED WITH OUR KIDS LEARNING DON'T LEAVE IT ALL UP TO THE TEACHERS.

What a difference a good principal makes!! I see a lot improvement in the school. My daughter's teacher is great and the school seems to be managed much better. The office staff is still mean and uncaring but much much improvement has been made. There is still the cliche of parent/teachers but overall I like the progress I see.

I constantly have trouble with most of the teachers, they never listen to parents concerns nor communicate. They set-up parents as well as children. In addition, the teachers have no control over their students. The curriculum is very poorly and do not teach children the difference between bully or abuse. The students are very gossipi and the teachers begin to accuse certain children.

Do whatever you can to stay away from this school. The teachers don't care, the Principal has no idea that her teachers are incompetent. I would have put my child in a different school if it wasn't his last year at Hummel.

II left Hummel as an honors student with straight A's and now so do my sisters they are now honor students as well
