Please change the afternoon pickup routine it’s a mess. Someone in the office told me the kids and go line is not active for safety reasons and too many people walking through. But even with that being down now it’s still a ton of people walking through the parking lot, I go grab my kid and come back to my car and I am stuck and I can’t get out because all of these people are walking through from all these different ways. It’s an inconvenience all the way around and I don’t always want to walk miles just to get my kid and it’s hot here. Then when walk the mile to get your kid it’s totally unorganized as well they stand in a line then when the bell rings kids scatter like ants. What you all should consider doing for pickup is get walkie talkies, fix the communication system and order of things. The kids and go line needs to be open immediately

Have the car riders outside and
Have a worker verify the parent via walkie talkies in each car securing the safely of each child instead of just letting them scatter

Then with the kids being out side and parents verified then they allowed to walk to there car and cars can’t proceed until all kids are in the vehicle eliminating people walking through the parking lot.

It’s simple. Walkie talkie, communication and that will keep traffic movie. How you guys have it now is a mess. Thank you. Please change this I do not like it whatsoever. Then on top of that the person that opens the gate is never on time.

I have had kids in this school for 8 years straight now. I would never move my kids anywhere else, even if I moved. Scherkenbach has the most amazing staff, facilities, and engagement for both students and families. I have always felt safe with my kids there and we have never had any issues at all with bullying or anything of the sort. They have recently even made more upgrades to safety procedures and equipment. Every single teacher we have ever encountered there was caring and really seemed to want to see my kids succeed. They offer so many great activities and trips for the students as well. I cannot recommend this school enough!! I seriously have NO bad things to say.

Amazing School with amazing teachers and administration. Both of my children are thriving at Scherkenbach. The teachers and admin have been very accommodating to my special needs son. I am grateful for the time and effort teachers put in every day to make school both fun and educational.

SEVERELY OVERCROWDED SCHOOL. Rude teachers and staff. Belittle children who ride the bus - and barely get to school on time, because of the bus drivers fault, no fault of the child. Bullying at this school is insane and nothing is done about it although the school claims to have a zero tolerance policy regarding bullying. Classrooms are so crowded, to the point it is likely a fire code violation. 30+ students in rooms designed for half the number of children placed in there. This school needs a complete administration/teacher upgrade. Hire teachers with compassion and a willingness to actually teach children, remembering that all children are different, don't try to mold them into some puppet you want them to be. All children learn at different rates, the kids attend school to learn, not to only pass a state suggested test. If you can, don't send your child to any CCSD school, this one for sure is a best case of why CCSD school are so horrible.

My little ones did more play than learn, it seems like they give treats just to shush them up, front office staff was horrible they seem to judge and assume glad we moved out of there.

Absolutely atrocious administration, teachers, and in particular principal. If your child has special needs, RUN don't walk away from this prison like atmosphere.

Horrible handling of school bullying. have allowed it to repeatedly happen and blame the person being bullied for doing something wrong. Currently seeking legal options against the school

We really like this school we were just sad when we found out that they did not have any openings for full day kindergarten and had people on a waiting list but would not be opening a class even if more people requested due to having to hire a teacher??

I totally agree with the last review. I'm suprised that they still gave the school 4 stars though. The grading system is horrible. I very rarely see any graded papers and there a no grades posted on parentlink, so I have no clue where my daughter stands. They do not drill math facts so she still uses her fingers. There are no timed math tests and they don't teach algorithyms until 4th grade. There are no spelling words/tests. Overall, I'm very disappointed with this school, especially since it's rated so high. I'll be moving my kids to a charter school for next school year.

THIS YEAR had to have been the worst year my daughter experienced going there. Horrible in the transition to their new curriculum. Her teacher this year has a horrible, bland personality to say the least. And in the middle of the year they switched from "non-grades" to letter grades and yet, the teachers still grade on the old system. Have not seen any letter grades on my daughter's papers, yet she gets letter grades on the report card. Very confusing. Worst of all, all of the "homework" is pretty much voluntary online links they can go to. Dr. Hammond needs to straighten up this catastrophic mess next year. My daughter went from almost all A's to straight B's because of the new grading system.

I LOVE this school!! Great after school activities, great teachers, love the principal!! I can't say enough good things about this school. I have 2 sons who have been here for 3 years. They love it. They really handle bullying. I have a son who used to be bullied a lot at another school. It hasn't happened here. He is excelling. I really think this school is great.

This school meets and exceeds our expectations. Very cutting edge with technology. Very well kept physically. Staff is friendly and personable and always concerned with any issues you may have. Principal is fantastic - I don't know why the previous reviewer says otherwise. I see her in the hallways and outside of the school often and she's always involved with what's going on. Other than some overcrowded kindergarten classrooms - I'd call this school perfect. But hey it's not the school's fault that the education budget is crap - they handle their resources well from what I've seen.
