No homework has ever been given to our kid.

No, a teacher was hired to teach a small distance education class. She was not able to independently find things for my child to do during downtime. I was called 3 hours after drop off to come pick my kid up (after paying 750 per month, an expensive enrollment fee, and donating supplies).. I was told I would have to pay an additional 40$ for him to participate with the prek class as a class aid. The agreement was 5 days a week full time.

I was told my son was also a disruption to the other kids during distance learning, another reason she wanted him picked up early. The owner accepted my son into this program knowing he was high energy and did not want to make appropriate accommodations.

Again, after being at this school for years with 2 of my sons, I'm very disappointed in the owners decisions made today. I was charged a very heavy price for my son to be in a school to promote a good educational experience for distance learning, and I was asked to pick him up early because they could not find work for him to do. They did not want him to disrupt other children with his high energy. They knew my son for 5 years, and they knew his behavior. They gladly took the money, but did not accept the responsibility in helping us with his education.

Negative and Very Disappointing, was hoping for so much better from owner and staff, especially with all the CHRISTIAN talk/words.

Employees are not trained, they are just thrown in the room and demanded to perform as the owner states, her rules at all times. Yet she gives employees no breaks, constantly cut hours and overworks them with more children than law states is permitted. All she cares about is money. Not children. Not employees.

Not one time have I ever heard the request of simple manner words Please and Thank you. Not one time from teachers, or owner and her family members, especially to other teachers or children.

The only leader is Debra the owner. No one else matters.

When the owner is calling a child a "wussy", laughs and says "you didn't hear that", I have to say bullying is permitted.

My grandsons first stepping stone in life to become the young man he is today was to attend DJ'S Community Christian Academy. DJ'S Academy enhanced my daughter's wishes and beliefs that Manuel should know about God and be honest and forthright. DJ'S teaching curriculum was a great contribution to Manuel's learning and use of his brain that the good Lord gave him. The family moved back to Wisconsin and Manuel has graduated in June 2017 with honors and will be attending University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. We feel as grandparents that Debra Abendroth and her DJ'S Academy has been a guiding factor in his life.

Do not even waste your time on this place!!!! This school is not worth the money. Staff turnover is high due to inept and uneducated administration so all the great teachers leave. There is no one left in the entire place who has a degree in education so they rely on an outdated curriculum which leaves children behind even the public school. Students and staff are treated poorly. The style of discipline is SCREAMING at children and teachers. Grades are fake and inflated to make parents feel better and teachers are required by administration to lie to parents as well as cheat on standardized tests. If you want your child to see school as a negative place where you just sit up straight to avoid being yelled at and do mindless paper work than send them here to stifle all the creativity and individuality your child has. These are only a few of the reasons why the enrollment is so low. Once parents become aware of what is really going on they run far away from this place! Also, many of the positive reviews on here are FAKE. Teachers and staff are required to post them and somehow the administration does manage to get many of the negative reviews removed from this site so the public is not being informed accurately about the many problems within the facility.

The leadership is negative and not well educated in how a school should be run.
Posted: March 18, 2017
Teachers are NOT ALLOWED to be effective. Especially if they have knowledge and an education in teaching because they are micromanaged and pushed to do things the way the administration demands.
Posted: March 18, 2017
Bullying is the norm here because it comes from the top down. Since the owner bullies teachers and students it is very common for students to mimic this behavior towards others. Especially the owners grandchildren who are allowed to bully other students and teachers by calling them names and acting entitled.
Posted: March 18, 2017
Students with learning differences not given the assistance needed because there is no one there who knows anything about how to teach special education.

If you want an example of the quality "education" that your child would receive at this school, look no further than the numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes on their website. After my child was verbally abused by the staff, I removed them immediately.
Unfortunately they are testing as a year behind now in public school. Why would I OVERpay for this place, when public school has a better curriculum.

I regret sending my child to this school last year. The education is sub-par and the administration takes part in bullying the students, parents, and teachers. All day, my child sat at their desk doing pages upon pages of seat work (which is their way of saying "busywork.") the curriculum was boring and involved a lot of lectures and little interaction from the students. My kid was pulled in front of the school and yelled at by the administration. When they left the school, they had barely learned anything (yet still were on honor roll?!? Either the grades are inflated or changed to please parents and make us think our kids are learning). Not only did my child learn almost nothing (especially failing to make progress in reading, even though they were in the "advanced" reading group), their self-esteem was diminished by the constant nit-picking by the administration.
During the school year, I read several teacher reviews about the school, and I thought, "it couldn't actually be that bad." I was wrong. It was. Unfortunately, I don't see their reviews here any more, but they gave an accurate description of how bad the conditions are at this school.

My daughter has been attending DJ's Community Christian Academy since the third grade. She went a public school out in Boulder City, NV. where I thought she was doing well in school until I put her in DJ's. She was so behind that I was shocked to see just how far she had fallen behind just by being in public school. I know that my daughter is in great hand and that she is learning more that she could be in any other school. I have recommended this school to others that I know as well as the preschool. The teachers and other staff love my daughter as if she were their own. Not only is the education that she is getting above public school level she has also learned respect and how she should treat others. Every time we go some where we always get compliments about how well behaved my daughter is. She shows respect to her elders. I see all the negative reviews but I also know that there are two sides to every story so don't always listen to the negative take the time to check the schools out and talk to the staff. I wouldn't never think twice about putting any child in these school and hope that this reviews help others make the right choice as to where they should send their child.

It's a great school when I was there and I still think it's a great school

I went to this school when I was younger and I learned cursive,Spanish and the list goes on but since I left that school I have lost my ability to write most cursive and now no little Spanish because all the schools I've been to no longer teach these things. I am now in middle school and I have heard bad things about this school but when I went there is was a great school

I went to this school when I was younger pre-school till 2nd grade. When I was kindergarten I was reading at a 2nd grade level. I'm now 13. But when I went to this school the teachers and staff were great and every single one of us was treated like family. This school taught me so much and I thank the teachers there for teaching me about God and for the education I got when I was there.

The teachers and support staff are amazing. They are patient but firm and consistent with all of the kids.
Posted: August 6, 2015
There is only reading homework. The teachers teach in class for a full eight hours. When I inquired to the amount of homework my children would have I was told none. The response was we teach in the classroom.

Being a Christian school children are learning about God, morals and values. They are learning at home and it is being reinforced and taught in school as well, something public schools lack.

Both of my children went to the daycare and are now attending the academy. My son can read at a second grade level and write in cursive and just completed kindergarten. I love the administration, teachers and all of the staff. This school is wonderful and they treat my children and I like family not a number or a paycheck!

My son is just entering 1st grade so I'm not sure what amount of homework he will be bring home this year.

My son is quick to remember devotionals, and bible verses taught at DJ's. Honesty and Integrity are learned through good structured teaching. Ashlea Olson, proud parent

My child loves this school, and I have had nothing but good things to say about this school. The staff is prompt when I have questions that I need answered and are always there when I need support. Most of all it is a good Christian school that upholds that values and moral that are upheld in our Christian home.

My child is ADHD and extremely smart. He works well with the other children, and the teachers are amazing working with him when he gets restless. The staff at DJ'S have been nothing but helpful. My child is advanced in all studies, and I have had him tested outside of this school per the bad review given. He tested advanced. Ashlea Olson, proud mother.

PRAY ABOUT IT before putting your child here! If I could take back my bad choice in doing so, I would. I believed the owner/ principal when she told me that they supply a very advanced curriculum. Being one of the most expensive tuitions in the area, it was really important to us as parents to ensure that our child was getting a great academic education. Equally important was a Christian education with the leaders setting an example in a Christian environment. Sadly, this school failed miserably on both fronts. As we saw teachers dropping off like flies left and right, we felt something was not right here. Sadly, our child came out of this school way behind other children the same age, we had to hire a tutor just to help him catch up. That is the LAST thing we should have to do after paying so much for his education. I would not recommend this school for anyone's child, if I could give less then one star, I would! I would give a -2 star rating!

I would strongly recommend that parents do not send their child to this school. We did not experience what the school promised. As other parents have commented, the academics are substandard. Our child has received straight As semester after semester. Because we have a family friend who is a teacher in a local public school, we asked her to test our child to see her understanding of basic, grade-appropriate concepts. Our child is behind. At this school, the students spend a large amount of time doing "seat work." It is basically individual work at their desk. They do mindless worksheets that are never reviewed with them and they learn nothing. The school also has a very high turn over for their teachers. Our child comes home and will explain that a certain teacher "moved on" or "is no longer with us." Our child's teacher left in the middle of the school year with no warning and no opportunity to say goodbye. After that, there were two other teachers in her classroom. It sounds like a joke, but it is the absolute truth. The only positive comment I can make about this school is that religion is stressed and our child has enjoyed devotions and prayer time at the school.

HEARTBREAKINGLY BAD CHOICE!! I had both of my children at DJ's, (one in PreK, the other started in Kinder and went on to 1st grade there) for almost 2 years. We made a lot of sacrifices to afford the high tuition because we believed them when they told us that our children were getting the best, Christian education available. My son that started in Kinder there, brought home all A's and was ON THE HONOR ROLL EACH AND EVERY REPORT CARD..We started 1st grade there where he was one of only 6 children in the entire class. We had to leave for financial reasons. We had to put him in public school. HE WAS SO FAR BEHIND THE CHILDREN...He did not even know the sight words for KINDERGARTEN!!! We felt betrayed, how could his 1st grade teacher not notice an issue with only 5 other students in the class? How did he get all A's, on the honor roll? We paid a lot of money to make sure our children were educated BETTER then most. THEY WERE NOT EVEN AT A PUBLIC SCHOOL LEVEL was HEARTBREAKING. We were told that we were not the only one with this problem, that it is COMMON coming from this school. Nothing worse then thinking you are making a good choice, then watching your child struggle.

Not worth the money, look into it, park and wait for school to be dismissed, ask parents how they feel. I had both my children there for a year, paying these people more then twenty thousand dollars for their education. They dont care about your children or if they are TRULY learning. We bought the fraudulent reviews written by family members and the secretary of the school. The proof of who these people really are is the fact that they cannot keep teachers working there. They underpay them and treat them horribly. They have lost more then half dozen teachers in less then 18 months. Bottom line is that this is not a good school. It is not worth the money spent. While there are no perfect people, these folks have shown time and again how very un Christian they are. I would not put my children back there if they paid me to do it. Look around, for the same exact money or less, you can give your children a much better school.

Do not send your child to this school they are very money hungry and will falsify grades to keep parents happy. If you do send your child here make sure you look at all the paperwork your child brings home. Ask questions. The administration belittles teachers in front of the children. The teachers dump the kids desk on the floor if the desk is disorganized

This school is the best I have experienced any where! I am so happy I found this place. It is not just a school but a community! Year round there is always something happening in school, and other parents are involved with birthday's, etc. This is the best place for my kids to learn!!

I toured this school UN announced and have to say, they are legit. The teachers are amazing, working with small class sizes they are able to give the personal attention - which I feel lacks in other schools- EVEN other private schools. The kids are happy, the staff is friendly, the facility is clean, orderly and family-oriented. My review= 2 thumbs up!

Finding a good Christian School in LasVegas was hard til we found DJ's Christian Academy. We are soo glad to have found a school that values education, bible study, and each individual student. There aren't any sports here but having a computer and library room for the kindergarteners is great. The Kindergarten teacher Mrs. V is just superb with the children and getting the most out of each child. My child comes home daily singing Bible songs, talking about how much fun he had, and teaching me something new that he learned. My baby is reading, writing, and adding double digit numbers in his head...WOW I just love DJ's and Mrs. V.
