This school says they dont tolerate bullying but nothing changed after a reported incident. Also, I have not had any communication with my child's teacher about their progress or where they are. My child has a different everyday about something that happens. Teachers are rude, kids take from other kids lunches and nothing is done. Teacher just says they are not present so they cant address it. It has been very disappointing and I would not recommend this school if you can avoid it. Also, they changed morning drop off for this school year so the street gets cluttered and nobody follows the laws. Admin just sends email reminders about etiquette but no enforcement on the street or visibility.

I can only speak from a distance learning perspective as my son (10) started school here in fall 2020 during the pandemic shutdown. I understand that this is the first-ever unexpected change we all had to learn to adjust to. This change was hard on both parents and children that I do feel D.L. Dickens ES did a great job in adjusting to apply academic distance learning education programs and hardware for the student body. I really like how engaged the faculty efforts and school notifications of up-to-date information. Teachers are very responsive to messages and phone calls. I only rated them 4 of 5 stars because of their hindrances from the CCSD school system's poor infrastructure and Nevada Department of Education's horrible support to education. In all, I really like the school and teaching staff and recommend this school.

I went to this school for 3 years (3-5) (I’m now going into 7th) and my first two years were great but my last one was terrible. The teacher that I had (I won’t say her name) but she is so stuck up! She gives citations to her students over petty stuff. Also, when a boy accused me of calling him an elf, before asking me, she said “well what does she look like”?!!! She actually supports punks like that!

I would rate this school a 3. The only reason I said 3 is because, there are teacher's, in particular one I know who made a difference in my son's education.

My daughter's third grade teacher made it difficult to communicate with her. She would hardly sent out flyers informing me of upcoming events.

My daughter's third grade teacher was effective only when I would notice a change in my daughter's behavior or her inability to understand her homework and I would have to wait for her to reach back to me after I would spend time trying to reach her. The bad behavior of other students made it difficult for her teacher to make time for the students who needed academic help. On the other hand, my son's fourth grade teacher was an exceptional, kind hearted woman. She went out of her way to reach out to me when she noticed my son would start to slip and needed a reality check in his academics.

No character development in this school. There isn't any respect for students, teachers or classroom etiquette.

There was more bad behavior being ignored by the staff than resolution for the students to were being bullied by the problematic students.

Cannot comment, I do not know if their was children with learning differences and how they were supported.

The staff, beginning with the principal encourages bad behavior by ignoring it and not punishing the student and parents. The staff's excuse for ignoring the bullying is because "children who bully come from parents who are not giving their children the attention they need."

Horrible the principal of this school is a joke so freakin rude im not sure how she got her job but she definitely does not need at all. I am going to start a petition to get her removed.

My kids love Dickens Elem. They have done wonderful at this school versus their old school. The staff are all wonderful. Great school considering where NV is ranked.

Compared to other Clark County Schools, Dusty Dickens scores high. The principal and vice principal get personally involved when there are student issues. Above all, the school seems to be properly managed. I can't say enough about how kind and patient the front staff are even in the face of constant demands from parents, teachers, and students. The have always been polite with me. The teachers care about their students and keep the hallways quiet. The school has many activities for the students to participate in along with parents. The school is actively seeking parent involvement by setting up parent phone text alert systems, sending notices home, etc. Classroom size is a problem in a few classes because when one child is misbehaving, it throws off the teacher and the entire classroom. After the principal finds a solution, then the child should come back to class. Having 35 or more students in a class is too much. This is a problem for all of Clark County schools. Hopefully Clark County can eventually solve this problem. Overall, I do enjoy this school and look forward to seeing the improvements coming in the future.

When one child is misbehaving or has a social/mental issue, it throws off the teacher and the entire classroom. After the principal finds a solution, then the child should come back to class or needs to be permanently removed. The school can only do so much, parents need to do more. Also having 35 or more students in a class is too much. This is a problem for all of Clark County schools. Hopefully Clark County can eventually solve this problem. Overall, I do enjoy this school and look forward to seeing more improvements coming in the future.

If my son prior teacher took the time and extra effort to reach out to me when my son needed a nudge, I don't know why his teacher here felt so irritated when I made huge efforts to work with her on behalf of my son.

5th graders are out-of-control and believe they can do and say what ever they want. More parent involvement is needed here.

My sons are in 1st and 2nd grade and have wonderful teachers. They show their concern about their students and welcome parent interaction. I have sat down with them and it shows they really pay attention to their students. The office staff are very helpful as well and it shows on a daily basis. I am looking to move within the next few months and I am only looking in their school zone, why change a good thing?

My daughter has attended Dickens since Kindergarten and she is now in 4th grade. I also have children in Kindergarten and the Preschool program at Dickens. I love the principal and vice principal and the office staff. The teachers are good, but the stress of their jobs always being on the line shows in there mood towards the children. I also would like to see more parents care about their children and participate at the school. Clark County is a tough place to raise children the schools have limited funding and so many children do as they please without parental discipline. If you are a parent that is involved your child s education this is a great school.

I love Dickens. My daughter went to Kindergarten last year and I was soo worried because I had to leave my baby at school, alone, without me. It was shortly after meeting her teacher that I knew I had nothing to worry about. Miss Bratland was a joy and my daughter LOVED her, I loved her, my son loved her! We are thrilled that my son will now have her as his teacher this year. I really can't think of anything bad to day other than their award ceremonies need to be better organized so that there is not so much crowding... other then that.. my daughter learned alot, did great, loved school, and we loved it too... We are all looking forward to the year ahead for them... I can only hope that all the other teachers are this wonderful! Everyone in their staff is so kind and just willing to go above and beyond for your kids....Miss Pam is amazing! THANKS DICKENS for making a scary thing so easy!
