CCSD provides a better education and they have much higher student to teacher ratio. If you want your child to be behind the curve then send your child to this school.

My grandson is in second grade and attends Solomon Schechter and he absolutely loves his school. From the teachers to the instruction and of course the friends-we are like one big happy family! This school promotes a strong community where children feel safe, secure and at home with all their extended family. This school has a wonderful curriculum while teaching my grandson what it means to be a person of good character and to care for his fellow students. I am so very grateful for the education and environment my grandson gets at his school. Thank you to Mr. Weiss, the caring staff and devoted teachers for making this possible!!

This is an amazing place where they place an equal emphasis on academics, Judaics and social/emotional development. I can't think of a better school to send my 3 kids to!!

Parent of one graduate and one current student. Fantastic education and community. Dual language curriculum. Caring teachers and staff that will communicate with the parents. Great student to teacher ratios. They will differentiate learning for your children to cater to their strengths and address any needs.

We have been parents at this school for 5 years, and we currently have two children at the school. Their secular education has been fantastic; they love reading, math, and science, and test scores have been high. Teachers work together to reinforce lessons across subjects, such that a science or humanities concept might be reviewed in Hebrew, for example. By the end of first grade, both of our children were reading Hebrew aloud with ease; in the higher grades, they are progressing steadily in comprehension and conversation. The grounding they are getting in Judaics - holidays, daily prayer, familiarity with some of our texts, and more - will serve them well, to know who they are when they are out in the broader world, to feel at home in the Jewish community anywhere in the world. The school is diverse in terms of family religious observance, socio-economic status, and country of origin, and there is no judgment on any of these dimensions - only education and a welcoming community.

The school has an overall philosophy that homework serves a purpose, and teachers are very thoughtful about what homework is assigned and why.

At Schechter, every member of the faculty and staff knows every child, and they see when something is not right. The school counselor proactively works with each class to promote healthy relationships and prevent bullying, and programs such as Character Day reinforce this. When problem behavior happens, faculty and staff are very accessible and responsive to ensure every student is safe. The student handbook also articulates specific anti-bullying policies.

My husband and I have a daughter in Kindergarten. The teachers are wonderful! Besides her kindergarten teachers she also has a Hebrew teacher. It fills us with such pride when she comes home and tells us about the things she learned, whether it's a song in Hebrew, a story about a holiday, or reading her sight words and story books and she's not even 5 years old yet! Yes, we knew she was ready for kindergarten. They agreed to test her and allowed her to start a early. Public schools here won't even consider testing to start early. It's an arbitrary cut off date that dictates your child's enrollment in Kindergarten. If you are Jewish and want a first rate education for your child, Solomon Schechter is the right school for you.
